When was researching, I looked HARD at Viper. I was running car alarms in the late 80s/90s and Viper was the one to have. I didn't run them because they were expensive and you had to have a dealer install them. I was running things like Crimestoppers or whatever I could get and install myself (don't remember now, actually). It was pre-internet so it was basically what I could find locally (maybe even Excalibur).
Anyway… Viper has been known to be the one of the top brands… but I just couldn't get comfortable with them. They are not interested in the self install market at all, and in fact, when I went to their website – they wouldn't even tell me what system met my requirements, they just gave me an option to contact a dealer. I know people buy them on ebay and amazon and DIY them…but their warranty doesn't cover DIY installs (as far as I am aware). And while they do have a blade-like modular capability, I couldn't find anything as easy to install as the Excalibur. Maybe it's out there…but they have harnesses for data immobilizer bypass boxes that you have to add and they only cover remote start, etc. etc. It was complicated.
Then I stumbled across Omega in my research as a highly recommended brand, and I went to check them out. I didn't know at the time that they were the ones who made Excalibur (which was a brand I was familiar with). I liked their product, and features, and could browse around their website and see exactly what I could buy for my Jeep. Then I called them and talked to some tech support guy to ask a few questions. He was very nice, knowledgeable, conversational, and even better… helpful. It was during that conversation that he actually pointed me to a different system than I thought I wanted… because what I thought I wanted wasn't the best fit (even though it was a flagship model). That was cool… usually companies try and push the flagship… but he pointed me to a better unit for me… not the most expensive one.
Finally, it was during that conversation that I learned that they were just about to release that new T-Harness which will fit my Jeep that offered integration from the security, remote start, and keyless entry side of things. We talked for a long time about how that new harness, combined with the blade, would be a super easy DIY install. As it turned out, they had a pre-production harness in the shop that they were willing to send to me – noting that the production lot would be available for sale in just a few weeks.
So, I was sold. Great customer service, super easy install, well regarded company, great features… That's what landed me there. I have an excalibur installed on my truck. When i used the remote start the windows wouldn't roll down unless i had the key in the ignition. Now i have the key in the ignition and my windows wont roll down still. Any idea what went wrong?

So if I just want the alarm and not the remote start or door locks I just need the 12v constant power on the 4 pin sensor ports and whatever wires to the accessories I want on the 18 pin, right?

Good video, I have a factory alarm/ security system.. don't know which would be better.. I just pull fuel relay and lock the hood if I'm in a sketchy area.. Its a pain doing that though.
