Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery Hilldow 120C Long Term Review

    Form Factor and Compatibility

The Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery from Hilldow is an interesting choice for those looking for a battery upgrade for their RC car. While it may not be of high grade, it does have a form factor that fits perfectly into the Hyper Go 1/16 scale car. This was actually one of the main reasons why I decided to review this battery, especially since it was sent to me free of charge.

    Connector Compatibility and Modifications

One important thing to note is that the battery comes with an XT60 connector, which means you will need an adapter to connect it to the Deeds connector on the car. Thankfully, I had already modified mine to fit the brush version, so connecting the battery was not an issue for me. Regardless of whether your car is brush or brushless, the battery compartment is the same, and the battery fits nicely with the little downs lock profile, ensuring that it doesn’t move around during use.

    Initial Discharge State and Charging

Upon receiving the battery, I noticed that it was not fully charged. It had an initial discharge state, which initially worried me a little. However, considering the price and the fact that it’s cheap, I wasn’t too surprised. The capacity of the battery is advertised as 1.6 amp hour, but upon measurement, it was actually 1.5 amp hour. Despite this slight discrepancy, the battery voltage held up well, even after multiple charging cycles.

    Long-Term Performance

After running approximately 30-40 cycles with the battery, I noticed a slight decrease in capacity. It went down to 1.4 amp hour, which was not a significant drop considering the number of cycles it had gone through. The battery continued to perform well, and its voltage remained stable.

Upon testing the Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery Hilldow 120C, we observed some interesting results. One of the key aspects we focused on was the internal resistance of the battery during charging. We found that the internal resistance measures at 6.7 ohms. This parameter plays a crucial role in determining the C rating of the battery.

    Calculating the C Rating:

To accurately calculate the C rating of the battery, we considered the highest recorded internal resistance, which was 9.2 ohms. Using this value, we can determine the actual C rating by performing an online calculation. The obtained result shows that the battery only has a C rating of 21.6, far from the advertised 120C.

    Overrated Labels:

It’s important to note that the labels on budget batteries, including the Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery Hilldow 120C, often tend to be significantly overrated. Many manufacturers exaggerate the performance of their batteries to attract customers. However, upon testing, we can clearly see that the actual C rating falls far short of the claimed 120C. This overrating issue is not unique to this particular battery, but rather a common occurrence among many budget battery models.

When it comes to the long-term performance of the Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery Hilldow 120C, we have some concerns. While the initial performance may be satisfactory for casual RC car enthusiasts, the lower C rating compared to the advertised value raises doubts about its long-term reliability.

It is important to consider the specific requirements of your RC car and how the battery’s capabilities meet those needs. If you prioritize a high C rating for improved performance and durability, it might be worth considering alternative options with more accurate labeling.

In , the Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery Hilldow 120C may not live up to its claimed C rating of 120C. The internal resistance measurement and subsequent online calculation indicate a much lower C rating of 21.6. Therefore, it is essential to be mindful of the overrated labels found on many budget batteries. It is recommended to thoroughly research and consider alternative battery options that meet the specific requirements of your RC car for optimal performance and long-term reliability.

In , the Hyper Go H16BM 1/16 Scale RC Car Alternative 3S 1600mAh Lipo Battery from Hilldow is a decent option for those looking to upgrade their RC car battery. While it may not be of high grade, it fits perfectly into the Hyper Go 1/16 scale car, making it a convenient choice. The initial discharge state and slight discrepancy in capacity can be overlooked considering the price point. In the long term, the battery performs well and maintains its voltage stability. Overall, it is a reliable and affordable battery option for RC car enthusiasts.
