Let me get mine made all right if youre building yours along with me, your hands should hurt right now, too, lets get these installed and there we go. The rear is all done. The front is similar, so I went ahead and built. It too.
The Body: Jeep Gladiator
Lets take a break from building and check out the body thats going to be going on this. This is a Jeep Gladiator and it looks like its going to fit perfectly. Ive already cut this out previously. All we need to do now is get the window stickers. Put on and then Ill show you what color were going with thats one Im going to go: ah a and do the rest of these off camera. Im, not sure when Proline switched to vinyl for their window masks. But this is so much better than the cutout masking tape was before were going to be going with this champagne gold, color Im, hoping its going to come out kind of as a desert. Tan metallic Jeep actually has a color very similar to that on their full-size vehicles, and I cant wait to see what it looks like on this truck.
Prepping for Painting
Okay lets finish getting this thing ready to paint now painting is 90 prep. I like to start with a brand new scouring pad and just go around and kind of scuff up the inside surface, that takes down some of the shine and gives the paint something to stick to once.
Preparation and Painting
To start off, you’ll need some 90 plus IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and a new clean paper towel. Give the whole inside of the body a wipe down, but be careful not to go too crazy close to the stickers. The adhesive can get softened if you’re too rough. Once that’s done, make sure not to touch the inside and let’s move on to putting some paint on.
The first coat of paint should be a nice light, even coat just to get a tack on the surface. You’re not trying to completely coat the whole thing, just enough to give the heavier coats something to stick to. After applying the first coat, let it dry for a little bit, and then you can go in with a heavier coat.
Now that the body is all painted up, you can consider reinforcing the inside. For this build, a different approach was taken. Drywall tape and Flex Seal were used instead of E6000. While it’s easier to apply, there is some uncertainty about its strength. However, we will find out soon enough.
With the body painted and reinforced, it’s time to put the stickers on. Start by peeling off the protective plastic. It might not be the most satisfying task, but it needs to be done. Once the plastic is removed, it’s time to apply the stickers.
In this case, the process was done off camera, but you get the idea. The rest of the stickers were applied, giving the body a complete look. The finished result is a completed Jeep Gladiator Rubicon body that looks great and is ready to handle some serious bashing.
