So let me show you guys what i did if that shift collar moves this guy right here. If this thing moves, it has to move out here, okay or it has to flex this shaft right here and the shaft that’s in there is the original one and there is no bend it’s as straight as this one. So i can’t see that flexing now, so it has to move. This has to come out of the gear which moves a shift for it, which means it has to come out here, and the only thing out here that could flex was this horn that i made when i first did it so and the way i had this Set up was, i had to bend it up to make clearance, and you can see that hole right. There is where the bolt was. I had the little arm deal coming out and turning this way, so the servo actually had less leverage on it out here than what it would have in here. So what i’ve done? You can see this other plastic horn. I have a metal one somewhere, but i can’t find it uh. I had to elongate that and i’ll show you guys that up in detail and i spaced it i’ll show you the spacers in detail as well, and this right here. I turn this to the inside. So we’re going to look at those up close the gear selector moves in and out perfectly straight.
This right here has an arc to it, as you can see right here, the arc so that’s why i had to extend that in the far end position. It’S kind of towards the middle in the far out position it comes out, so i had to open that up now this horn, there is no bend in it. I found these spacers i’m going to measure those and give you the exact thickness of those spacers, but still this would not fit so what i had to do was actually take the dremel and shave this down on both sides. I didn’t really have to shave the top down, because that just kind of hangs up at the top but uh you might need a little bit more clearance right there, but uh. This right here should eliminate the actual flex that i would have in the horn and with this to this side over here and i’m. Talking about the hole right here, it gives the servo more leverage, thus making it effectively stronger against all of the stuff inside here. So i’m, hoping that that right there can actually get the job done and there shouldn’t really be any flex anymore, because with that horn being straight, let me see here: you don’t have that bend that bend uh really i mean it worked, but i think maybe that Was part of my problem the whole time, but then again you know we also have the clearance issues inside the transmissions stock transmissions and the vidivon.
The vitivon internal dimensions were made the exact same as the uh stock ones. So this is really. This is really an issue on axial’s part for this, so all of us out here trying to get this thing to hold in second gear. Well, that’s part of the issue and we’re trying to get this figured out so anyways i’m going to get some measurements for you guys so uh. You guys know if you have this servo, you want to space it up and also want to mention that if this horn right here had just a little bit of flesh, you only need about a millimeter and a half of flex and with the power that we Have going into this thing once it starts going it’s just going to go so um yeah, which kind of makes me wonder. Agile, expects it to work with a servo saver. Yeah don’t see that one happening, but anyway, i’m gon na go and get those measurements and tell you guys about those and uh. Hopefully get this thing put back in the poor old riff, the measurement on the spacers 1.87 millimeters, and i forget where i get them at, but um, i probably saved them out of a kit or something years ago. I have a tendency to save things like that, but i really came in handy fit perfectly with a normal, larger saver or a washer, the small screws and the tight tolerance right here. You’Re not going to be able to fill them in without trimming them so yeah and as far as the travel goes right there i got about 5.
6 millimeters of travel, so yeah. That really was a big deal there and uh. The uh endpoints on here went from about 25 to about 34 and about 24 to 36, so the travel here is a lot more than what we had previously, which helps to increase the effective torque or effective force on the shaft holding the gear in and uh Let’S just hope this works, so there we go new two speed. Uh got the spool in the center let’s. Take this thing out for a drive and see what it’s got now there’s one thing to keep in mind: i’ve got that center diff locked up. So, with that uh it’s gon na be more brutal to the axle diffs. Yes, i still have the diffs in there. I like the diffs in all honesty, but this is uh second gear let’s, give it a pull. Oh now, there’s going to be some kind of chatter, with the uh, with the shift collar and all that, but uh shouldn’t be any actual gear slippage. Oh whoa was not expecting that much so far so good, i love the slap wheelies. Maybe i should put a big wheelie bar on this thing, so i can get a slat wheelie for a mile and a half i got maximum maximum turn up front. I did adjust that a little bit as well. That was easy, Music. So far, so good, beautiful, i’m gon na be sad when all these dirt piles go away.
Hey Laughter, oh hit that jump wrong. I believe this is one of the areas where it was chattering. Quite a bit. Oh, no! It doesn’t chatter anymore. Let’S try some first gear stuff just to make sure i didn’t mess that up by getting the second gear just right now, what’s cool is i’m. Looking at this right here, it’s, not even touching the top of the ramp or the dirt. Well, yeah missed the wheel. Speed on that, that was some second gear that’s, why a little ridge in the dirt see that beautiful landing landing on a down of any kind, even something as horrible? As that is awesome, i think i got it. I think i got it beautiful that’s awesome, so maybe my biggest issue was with the horn that i did the bet horn. Maybe that looks good to me Music. I can also tell a difference of having that center diff out it. Definitely i mean differentials. Of course, the way they work they transfer power to the path of least resistance with the high viscosity earplug that i had in there, but still planting the back pretty well, but not as much as it’s doing right now. Music, i’m actually surprised the axle disks are taking it because that’s uh. This is more brutal on the axle disc, more brutal on the drive shaft as well yep, i’m, confident enough that i’ve got the problem fixed. Now now you have these gears um there isn’t enough room inside, so i had to do the modification on the fork to get more travel about five and a half.
Millimeters is what you need overall travel, full engagement on the low and full engagement on the high. That seems to get there and i had that before. But i had the horn and i bent that horn up. You know to get it to where it needed to be because it just wouldn’t go. I didn’t really think about the whole flex of the plastic and all that, because i actually heated that so i may have weakened it, but you know axial still they sell it with a uh sort of a saver. I cannot see that holding at all. If you have it in there, with the servo saver comment down below, if it’s holding i’m really curious about that now, the surfaces, the teeth on the shift collar uh could have been about maybe three quarters of a millimeter longer it doesn’t sound like a lot, but It can make the difference. They were flat, they shouldn’t have any shifting under load. However, you have all that vibration in the transmission and i kind of got a feeling that was causing it to go here and once you get to the taper at the tips of the uh of the shift collar and the gear. I think once you got close to that, it just simply skipped out and then because you got so much power in here, you know it just simply rides on top of that and doesn’t really go in anyway, regardless of all that mumbo jumbo.
I think i got it, i think i’ve got it. I won’t find that metal horn, but anyway i think i’m good enough. Now that i can go and progress with other mods and try some other things. I’Ve got the carbon panels. I haven’t even been able to put on yet i mean sure i could have put them on, but having this issue would have taken away from it right anyway, guys uh.
