We got a big one. Today i got my first large scale, rc car truck whatever you want to call. It uh pick this up the arma outcast exp uh fifth scale. So this is an 8s capable stunt truck. I guess so. I’Ve been kind of holding off on getting large scale for a while for a bunch of reasons why i didn’t have a whole lot of space to store it so well. I don’t know where i’m going to put this but um the other reasons are weren’t a lot of places for me to run large scale and then there are of course quite expensive and there wasn’t really one out there that i want to get but arma just Released the outcast exp roller, so this is their extreme bash version. It’S got all the upgrades. The 7075 aluminum pieces and stuff and uh i’ve been thinking about getting a crate for a while, but didn’t really like the crate too much the outcast came out. Um, it solved some of the problems, but there were still some durability issues, so i finally decided to get this. I think this just this came out probably like a month or two back um it’s about for a little while, but uh yeah finally picked this thing up and we’re gon na explore the great big world of fifth scale, so uh without further ado, let’s uh open The box dang it what the hell here it is in all of its glory: unboxed outcast 8x exb.
So they call this a fifth scale. I think it’s really more, like a sixth scale, it’s, not humongous like a low c 5t, or something like that um. This thing is reasonably sized, but obviously, on the big size, quick, look at what else comes in the box, uh instruction manual as well as like a little, i don’t, know technical pack, explaining probably how to i don’t know what that’s that technical pack is a little 24 millimeter nut tool, which is nice, because i will need one of those uh. I guess some kind of snap ring pliers. It looks like maybe for the d clip system or something i don’t really know some stickers. You can put all over your car a couple different motor mounts as well as i guess, an optional uh spur gear, i think that’s, what that is, or maybe it’s the pinion gear, not really sure a bunch of screws. So i assume this is going to be like three millimeter and two half millimeter screws again. My first fifth scale or sixth scale we’ll have to see a 56 series motor mount and a 49 series motor mount, which is nice because i did pick up this motor to try to use. So this is the hobby star: 56, 92. 4 pole brushless sensorless motor. It is going to be an eight millimeter, um shaft, so here’s some little shock pistons looks like a lot of like 8 by 1.0 or 8 by 1.
1, millimeter, 1.2 millimeter, pistons, uh yeah, so just different piston sizes, not sure what stock is. This looks like the uh zero saver. You must assemble it yourself and then we got the it’s like a servo mount slash, esc tray, so they have a difference. A few different sizes with a few different covers here. So i think for different size servos, whether you got the full size, servo or the extra long type um yeah. So i paid 5.99 for this. My local hobby shop, norcal hobbies, was having a sale for the fourth of july and they had a bunch of stuff launched a bunch of large scales. 150 bucks off like in fraction, i think, was like 150 off or felony was 150 off and uh yeah. This is the vehicle i’ve been eyeing for a while uh. This is really the fifth or sixth scale that i wanted to get, and at that price you know i really couldn’t pass it up. Uh we’ll need to pick up some electronics. Um did pick up some other parts to go with this, so first off rear, rpm arms um. I guess these break fairly easily, so local guy there giovanni, i recommend i’d pick a set of these up. So i did get these not a big fan of rp arms in general. Honestly, i find them too. Flexy also picked up a couple of them on one spool gears. I think this is for like the limitless, um or infraction or something so, basically, a spool gear.
Eight millimeter bore mod one, which is what you need uh for this motor and that uh spur gear. So i got the ‘ tooth as well as a 34 tooth to basically use as a pinion gear, not sure what uh size, i’ll use. I’Ll probably run the 34 and see how that runs as well as maybe the stock spur gear. Yeah that’ll take some gearing uh trial and clean off the body clips here. Super nice matte black armor exp body, which is what they use on everything medium thickness, not super thick. It does have the integrated massive roll cage so yeah, if you land on the top here, this is going to definitely survive and let’s. Take a closer look at the vehicle, so quick, look at the vehicle a lot of the red aluminum exp parts. As you can see these braces down the middle um, they did split up the top brace, i think, on the v2 versions of the arma creighton 8s. The first one i did have a – i actually have a video on the first arma crane 8s, and i didn’t note that i thought this bar was too long and likely to bend and so it’s good to see they actually split that up into multiple pieces. As long as you kind of flex here in the middle a little bit, of course, the exp chassis, they did change out the shocks a bit. So i believe there are thicker shock.
Shafts, bigger rod ends massive turnbuckles. Now these things are gigantic. I don’t know how many millimeters, i would guess, like i don’t know, eight millimeters or something huge turnbuckles here, um a lot of space for electronics, so you can definitely mount a big motor and a big esc combination, two battery trays, of course, so 4s, each um Other changes to the exp models not really sure what else they did. They did add new sway bars to the exp models that the regular outcast did not have i’m, not sure that’s super necessary, but you know can’t really hurt you can always remove them as well. Does have the backflip tire so that’s nice to see i’m a big fan of the uh arma outcast tires. I think they’re pretty much the best bachelor tires you can get for at least the terrain. I want to drive on huge shutter differential here. That thing is massive: even’s got even got a little body clip holder there quick release, i guess to probably pop off the braces there on all looks like all the braces kind of has this quick release system that’s, pretty cool um, but yeah, pretty nice. Looking uh big rc truck, if you have any suggestions on esc’s and cerebrals, let me know i’m thinking about running a max 6, because i don’t really consider this a full on fifth scale: it’s, not quite as heavy as like a dbx le or 2.0, or something Like that or a low c5 so hoping, i can get away with a max 6 i’m not going to gear it like super high or anything like that.
I think it’ll run okay, because the the regular rtr comes with like a maxic style. But if you think i got to go max 5, let me know uh battery wise. I am going to be running jen’s ace batteries as usual. Probably the red lion batteries get maximum uh. Basically current running through those uh standard, you know sort of double wishbone type. Pillow ball suspension or pivot ball. If you want to call it that um looks pretty nice steering feels pretty free suspension, wise yeah, very stiff springs um, especially in the front rear. A little bit softer might have to crank down the preload a little bit more on the rear, definitely a bit soft on the rear. So this thing will probably wheelie uh, but yeah. This thing looks awesome. Well, they even have a little steel plate here in the back, i guess to kind of stiffen up that rear, differential or diff housing, bulkhead uh massive. What are the oh, these are little battery connector holders. It looks like integrated into the bag. Straps that’s kind of cool uh thin battery straps. Well, there are two and it looks like you could add: maybe a longitudinal battery strap as well interesting. I don’t think that comes in the box, but probably something you want to do if you’re truly sending this drag link uh pretty stout as well. This looks like a pretty massively overbuilt vehicle kind of the standard outcast looking vehicle with the small rear, bumper uh kind of a bigger front.
Bumper looks like an exp style, bumper up front a little bit bigger than your standard, outcast bumper, but yeah. This thing is humongous gon na. Take me a little while to get all the electronics and put this thing together, but certainly looking forward to running this, and i think it’ll be a lot of fun. So anyways that’s it of the unboxing of the outcast 8s fifth scale exp.
