2020 Lexus UX SUV review – five things you need to know | What Car?
But before we go any further, don’t forget if you want the very best deals on the UX or any of its rivals head to the watt car new car buying section on our website. So the first thing to mention is the car’s name. Now it’s a brand new car it’s, not a replacement for anything it’s, not a model that’s following on from something else: es ist, not something that harks back to Lexus is tradition or heritage, or anything like that. es ist, a brand new model on a new platform, so they’ve called it. The UX and Lexus said that the you in that stands for urban and the X or a cross stands for cross over so it’s. An urban crossover, hmm slick right having an X on the end, also makes it a recognizable part of Lexus is current SUV family, which includes the bigger NX and even bigger our X and our XL. As for its rivals, the UX is against premium family SUVs like the Volvo XC, 40 and BMW x1, as well as hybrid rivals like the Kia, Niro and MINI Countryman se. As for the interior, if you’re looking for a typical high riding driving position in your SUV, the UX might not be for you because you sit noticeably lower to the ground than its rivals, while it might not be quite so high as others it’s still a fine Driving position with great visibility and lots of adjustability to get comfortable as for the rest of the interior, it’s typical Lexus, with a truly excellent level of build quality, but as with other cars and its lineup, an infotainment system which is hugely frustrating to use.
Because of its complicated layout and ancient trackpad system in the UK, the UX is only available as a hybrid car. So that means it gets a brand new 2 litre petrol engine, and that is paired with an electric motor. It gets a battery as well so what’s that, like well like most hybrid cars, it’s very impressive, at low speeds, around town, Wo, when it’s just running on the battery power, it’s very quiet and the acceleration is smooth and quick and responsive as well. But the car also gets a decent amount of power as well. So not only will it cope very easily and very comfortably with town speeds, but if you get it up to higher speeds, it does actually have a decent amount of power to go with the smoothness. As well so longer fast, the motorway journeys are actually pretty easy, but what we would say is that being a hybrid, it doesn’t quite have the pulling power of the diesel engines that you get in its premium. Rivals like the XC 40 or the BMW x2. Now that engine is paired with a CVT gearbox that’s, a continuously variable transmission, what that is, is an automatic gearbox, so ist es, not a manual. You don’t have to change gears yourself and there’s only two pedals, and it basically means that it doesn’t shift gears. Like you get on some other automatic gearboxes, the trouble with CVT gearbox is, Obwohl, is that when you ask for a prolonged burst of acceleration, it sends the revs soaring and takes a very long time for it to settle down again.
No one has made a CVT that’s, quite as slick as a more traditional automatic lexus has worked on the CVT transmission for the UX and actually it’s, not quite so bad as it has been in other models. Also, although it’s not perfect, you only really have a problem if you’re, suddenly accelerating very hard and the instances that that happens are really not that common in everyday driving. This is an early Drive in the UX, which means that there are still quite a few things that to be announced by Lexus there’s. Nein. Confirmation of pricing, Zum Beispiel, with Lexus saying it’ll, be priced right among its premium rivals, meaning it’s going to start from around 30000 Pfund. So the UX is a striking hybrid family SUV with a plush interior and offers decent performance around town.

Quelle
a upgraded CT200 with power seats and power liftback , and runflat tires, but principally . . AWD available. Ich mag es . . especially the interior . . but prefer the old exterior on the CT 200.
No power for $35,000 !
Getting my ux250h f sport sun package thats max, work in toyota so get some % Aus
These car reviews are worthless as everyone has their own opinion…this review rather poor and they never mention the astonishing build quality of the Lexus which is the best in the world. Ich besitze eine 5 year old RX 450H it's amazing luxury on wheels and oh so reliable. Personally if your looking for a smaller SUV go for the NX.
You forgot to mention that there is virtually ZERO load carrying space in the "so called" boot. Looked at one a couple of days ago and the boot space is ridiculous. Its tiny…..miniscule. Even the Lexus sales guy was embarrased to open the rear tialgate to show me. You maybe get one medium size suitcase in there but very little else. I was looking as was very interested a a company car driver due to the low emissions and decent spec but the lack of boot space makes it totally imprctical. What the heck are Lexus thinking offering a car with no boot space?
Every single reviewer of the the Lexus Infotainment program has the same thing to say. Jedoch, once you actually own the car, read the manual to become familiar with ALL THE FEATURES, you find out it's simply wonderful. Ja, it's complicated because it does so much. How can something be simple when it does a thousand different things? Like any other software program, you play around with it and suddenly….you simply GET IT. Certain things you only deal with one time. Set them and forget them. Many other things can be accessed on the left panel next to the tach using the steering wheel buttons. Dann, there is VOICE COMMAND which is extremely nice. Aber, you have to spend a little time to learn it. Once you do that, you can do many procedures with both hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road. Also, Bitte…..you reviewers….give us a break. Use your common sense and assume the Lexus design team and engineers know what they are doing. Go ahead and review the product but don't make yourself sound ignorant just because you're unfamiliar with its capabilities. Most of the reviewers say "it isn't intuitive". You could say the same thing about piloting a LearJet. Imagine how ridiculous THAT would sound!! This is a marvelous automobile, in every respect, and considering the materials, workmanship, performance and reliability, you really can't do much better if you're in the market for a crossover.
Lexus gearbox is the only one with no obvious gear shift on the market. It actually feels like there are no gears, just one smooth acceleration.
I currently have an F pace R sport but find that city parking spaces are just not wide enough so often it’s very difficult to get in and out without clonking other cars etc. I am going to test drive the UX on Monday and I’m really looking forward to it. Also hope the aftersales customer service is better than Jaguar.
Besser 0 An 60 time than the Lexus CT 200. 🤔 So Brand new CT or UX as they're pretty much the same price bracket nearly.
My daily is an IS300h and the eCVT in it is fantastic. Journalists universally don’t seem ‘get them’ at and critique them like an auto when it isn’t, it’s a electronic differential and has no ratios. You have to adjust the way you use the throttle and then it’s just a serene drive. It also has a sound generator to mimic a V6 (well in mine it does) and that blends the engine noise nicely.
Drive wise it’s actually pretty wise, and accelerates like a train.
This will be a great car I reckon!
Mooi toch wat een CAR is dat!!!
Bought it for my dogs.
If you took even just a few minutes to learn rather than criticise something you don't understand yet, you would discover the benefits of the Lexus infotainment system.
It is easy to use when you understand it is nothing more than a trackpad common to laptop computers the world over. And most people who buy a car have a laptop, so instinctively they know exactly how to use it. The difference is haptic feedback which is adjustable.
Once setting your favorite parameters such as volume of nav and preferred radio stations etc you can find most functions quickly accessed by voice or quick access buttons on dash or steering wheel.
If you thing about the turn and twist and lean motions of iDrive or Command systems they are a lot less familiar to a user of a computer. But because they are BMW and Benz no criticism is leveled at them anymore. Jedoch, the first iDrive cars were panned but BMW persisted and people and, that subclass of people called motoring journalists, got used to them.
This looks horrible. Big pass…..
NICE LEXUS UX BEUTIFULL LOOKING CAR TOYOTA CHR IS NICE LOOKING CAR TWO
looks like CX3 upgraded
I like the ct200h far better If it had a hybrid system like the prius then I would seriously consider it but a belt driven transmission forget it
Womens car
Don't like the car too small
Uglier than my ass
I need to see this car side by side with other cars just to grasps it's size. For all i know, this is the same size as a Golf.
As soon as he said CVT I lost all interest.
Great preview. I love the quality and reliability of Lexus. I've been coveting an RX450h for years, but this looks like a more realistic prospect!
So original taking the piano style shortcut keys from the 3008 & 5008. Gimme the Kuga Vignale or XC40 over this anyday!!
Its based on the Toyota cross over platform in a Lexus cover ….. its just that
This looks lovely
Better than a X1, e pace, xc40 and GLA!!!
He's talking like he's talking to a group of 5 year olds.
This is just a luxury version of toyota chr right?
I just don't get these raised hatches with a lowered sewating position. Add to that the worst user interface on the market and poor powertrains, I would go elsewhere with my money.
Yay Doug Revolta's back! Enjoy his reviews. Danke!! Gerade abonniert.
I like the look of this Lexus and the potential economy. I wish they'd bring it out in the dark metallic green that I have seen some pictures, but instead we'll get lots of shades of grey. Manufacturers be advised – I will NEVER buy a grey car!
Tolles Auto. Looks like a baby Lexus RX
