Básicamente, i put in a new speed controller i plugged in the battery. I left it up a couple of times this caught fire. Then it shorted out the live pose and the whole lot went up so in this video i’ve got another esc the same one. Otra vez, an xlx2 brand spanking new we’re gon na chuck this one in there and see if it works, Espero, it’s not gon na catch fire again. así que, although it looks really bad, luckily the damage isn’t too bad – i think most of it’s gon na clean up on a new battery tray new receiver. Obviously a new esc. I think the motor is going to be okay got a little bit of singeing, pasando aquí, side, guard’s done, but i’m just going to chuck the esc in there for now and see if it works, because if it’s going to catch fire again, then at least It’S not going to get any much worse if i rebuild it or make it all nice again and it catches fire again, it’s a whole load of wasted time, but guys even the tyres caught fire and these really made a mess. Look at that so we’re gon na get these off. First we’re gon na get most of the mess off. First then we’re gon na get it in the workshop and have a little look at it so that got hot in there. Look the receiver’s melted! Oh, Dios mío, but strangely the wires.
Mira: Bien, Es decir, Extraño! Look inside the receiver box, it doesn’t look too bad, but that was saver. Look the inside of it looks perfect, but just in case it’s melted, the aerial there actually got so hot. It was laying across the top arm like that you can see the imprint there where that wire was laying across next we’ve got to get all this soot off of it bearing cleaner. Maybe oh yeah, that kind of gets it off all right so i’m going to carry on doing that i’m. Not going to do it perfectly because in a future video we’re going to properly rebuild it because we’re just going to test this esc, make sure it doesn’t catch fire. I’Ll give it a speed run, make sure we can get it to go over 100 milla, an hour which was the original plan, Entonces, once it all works, we’re gon na strip, it all down, give it a full rebuild and gon na bring it back even better Than what it was before so i’m gon na give it a quick clean up now and then we’ll get you back on. Oh, Entiendo. Kinda cleaned up this center diff unit definitely got really toasty. We’Re gon na have to replace the whole lot pretty much, but it does still work and i’ve disconnected opinion and look. The whole car still moves perfectly freely. So next i’m gon na put the max 5 back in and i just want to power up this motor because a few you guys said in the comments the reason the castle esc caught fire may or may be, because the motor was faulty.
I used this motor before with this esc and it was fine, so i doubt the motor was faulty, but we might as well check it anyway. So the connectors that are on here now are eight millimeters, the ones in the esc. I think they’re about six millimeters. So we’re just gon na temporarily, just wedge him in there like that. próximo, we need a new receiver and this time we’re gon na try it here next to the fire door. So if it all goes wrong, we can just sling it straight out and i’ve got my fire extinguisher ready here, but hopefully we won’t need it so radio on a test baby. We’Re gon na make sure this doesn’t catch fire, vamos a na. Take it out for a rip so so far, here’s the burnt stuff it’s come off of it and it’s not actually looking too bad do a little bit crispy, especially that center diff, oh chicos, i’m getting nervous now we’ve got to plug it into the program box And trains a few settings on the pc, so i’ve got the castle link. I’Ve got my program card, so we plug the esc into the box. Lipo auto cut off auto uh. Leave that uh we’ll leave that for now break him out i’m gon na leave that all right, someone said i should have done the perform motor test. So i don’t know what this does warning. This will enable a test mode, Muy bien, blah blah blah i’ll read that in a minute. So basically it says you rev the motor up to full rpm and it kind of teaches to esc what it’s got to deal with. Someone in the comments said that so we will do that in a minute motor. I do know we got ta turn this round to reverse we’ll, leave the rest of it, update it, set the end points and then we’ll plug it back in, and i want to get this outside. I don’t want to do it indoors in case it will catch us fire again. Get you nervous guys. So i got my fire extinguisher. I got the laptop got.
The car right next to the door, got some side cutters here in case it all goes wrong. I can just quickly snip a cable, you might think i’m being overly cautious. But if you haven’t seen the video where it caught fire, then you will know why all right wish me luck, guys all right so to calibrate the throttle you’re supposed to hold flat out and turn it on. That should be calibrated um. Oh, what the hell! What the hell man that’s another one popped lipos are warm saved him. A esta hora, Aunque, we saved a fire connectors are warm that doesn’t make any sense because it worked perfectly with a hobby wing. Lipos are hot motor, not esc’s got some heat in. There smokes come out of there. próximo. Do you see at least we’ve got a few in stock, so it’s a max 6 that i had in there originally and then, when i moved it over to a max 5, it seemed like the buggy went slower. So that was the reason why i wanted to put in the xlx2 to see if that’s going to make it faster, so we’re going to put in another mac6. And then i want to do a speed run with the same wheels that we had on with this. And see if this goes faster, if it goes faster, then i don’t know maybe we’ll leave that in it. If it goes, if it goes the same speed as that, then i think we’re going to put the max 5 back in and play with the gearing.
So the reason for wanting to take out the mac 6 originally was because it overheated after a couple of speed, passes and cut out. So then we went to a max five, but it kind of felt a little bit slower. Tenemos 98 milla por hora. I think it was a 97 mile an hour on road, but it just kind of felt slower and if you look at the specifications, the max 5 has a thousand kv limit and the max 6 has a 1 500 kv limits. I was kind of thinking, maybe the max 6 would be faster, but i wasn’t fully sure lending member xlx2 came out and looking through the specifications. Nowhere does it say a kv limit, so i thought this would be the ideal esc, because i thought we’re definitely pushing the hobby wing too far, because the motor i’m running is a 3200 kv and they recommend a thousand kv. But i don’t trust using these xlx2s anymore, guys that’s, two off literally burnt out in a matter of seconds. I don’t know if it’s something that i did wrong. I don’t know if there’s something faulty with the unit or there’s there’s, a design fault or something i don’t know, but all i know is is that i don’t trust it anymore until there’s going to be a proper solution for it. Vaya, this stinks, but at least it’s not as bad as the other one. I know a lot of people are going to say no, No, no it’s a motor and yes that’s.
What i would have thought as well, but if there’s something wrong with his motor, then it wouldn’t work fine with these ese’s. So we will see if this one here is going to last longer than a couple of seconds hello. The next we got ta change. These eight millimeter bullets and put these smaller ones back on to fit the max six and the max five esc. An eight millimeter hole in my chopping board works as a perfect little holder, a smaller connector on all right. There we go round number three or whatever uh yeah. We won’t need that it’s hobby wing, so radio on plug him in power on a s we’ve got to set the end points all right. Here we go a test baby. That castle, that would have smoked up ages ago, look flat out full break four of us. Well it’s, just a little bit warm esc is cold batteries. Cold cables, cold, connectors, cold! I could do this all day long. So using the same batteries, the same motor same servo, same receiver, same radio, just a different esc, perfect so i’m. Just looking at this armor forum and there’s, a few people on there saying that the fire was staged, the first one went all flamed up, so people are trying to figure out what lipos i was using. The lipos that i were using were these here. The gent ace soft case bashing, lipos people trying to blame the fire on cheap, lipos that’s, just daft guys.
I mean if a lipo is cheap, it just means it gives it. It gives out less power and a battery giving out less power. I should not make an esc catch fire if an esc catches fire just because the battery is a little bit older, worn out that’s. Just a bad design do not make excuses for it guys. You should not be able to set fire to an esc simply because you’re doing something on the throttle trigger or what batteries you’re running on it, that’s just daft. So next we got some dude that probably works at castle and he’s. Saying he’s not gon na lie. He thinks that the fire looks staged, he doesn’t get how the tires would catch fire. So the tires that are on the car are these here and they’re contact foams. Here you go guys here’s. The part number here are the exact tires that i used and they were brand new fresh out of the packet, and when you take these tyres out of the packet, they actually smell, really solventy. You can smell it on there and that is probably what first caught fire. So that is why all four tyres caught fire because of the solvent smell coming off of them well, Es decir. What i reckon anyway, and also when a lipo first flares up the fireball, is absolutely enormous. By the time i legged it back into the shop got on the camera. That was, there got back out again started filming the the worst of the flame was already gone.
So i didn’t even see the flame but i’m guessing. It would have been a massive great big fire ball i’ve seen lipo fires before so i don’t see why anybody would think that this is staged. Si lo hace, i invite you to go and get yourself a set of these tyres set off a lipo within that distance and then test it for yourself and then once you’ve tested it for yourself, then you can come back and you can call me a liar. So i know that my channel is mainly entertainment focus, but everything you see on this channel is 100 honest. You see exactly what happened. Básicamente, what you see is my experience in using that product, but i try and bring it across in an entertaining way. So for people then to come across and think that i’m being dishonest um. Bien, they can think what they like, pero eso es, definitely not the case, and it appears to me that the company of this product is just trying to get out of it and blame it. On to me and then he’s on about like the first batch or the second batch, i haven’t got a clue what batch my one is. I got my esc straight from the uk distributor, so whatever batch castle sent to the uk distributor that’s the one that i’ve got so this dude here said that he tried setting fire to an old foam tyre took about eight eight seconds for it to go up.
Uh, but if it’s an old tyre the solvent would have come off, you got ta, get the same tyre out of a fresh packet and then get a lipo and ignite it. Next to it come on dude and then people are saying are doing this that’s. What made the esc catch fire don’t be silly guys these are esc’s for an rc car when you jump these cars. That is exactly what you do in the air to control. The pitch of the car. Do not tell me that by accelerating and braking that’s going to cause an esc to catch fire, you know what i even tried doing the doing it to this on purpose, to try and make it catch fire and it stayed cold. You can see that on the video guys, please don’t make excuses for a faulty product, but you’re entitled to your opinion. If you think it’s all staged – and you think that the esc’s don’t catch fire then go ahead, bring it in your house, set it all up in your house, set your house on fire and who you’re going to blame. Then i also want to give a big shout out to raz shiffrin i’ve been chatting to him quite a lot recently and he’s got. I think i believe the world’s fastest armor he’s, getting some crazy speeds out of him and he actually tested the xlx2 system for castle before they released it and he absolutely stress, tested it.
He tried to break it. He done everything he could. I think he pushed like 600 amps through it and it took it. So i can only assume that the prototype versions were good and then the ones that they mass produced – there’s a fault somewhere. Espero, they’re going to sort it out, because this esc has got great potential. But if it’s going to set fire to everybody’s cars, then i don’t know how anybody can actually trust it. Así que con suerte, they’re going to resolve it soon, but until then we’re going to stick with the hobby wings, Muy bien, let’s quickly, take it out for a speed run. The road is a bit crappy on the edges, but if you look down the middle look, it’s actually pretty smooth, and this could be the road that we could do the 200 mile an hour speed run on oh dropping litter vinnie’s, getting his car ready plug him In boy he’s gon na go up in smoke, no we’ve got a hobby in there, it’s fine. Claro, yeah don’t blip the throttle. Why can’t? I pick the photo because you know it might damage the speed controller, es, a hobby wing, we’re fine.

Better we’ve got slightly less speed but i’m going to put that down to the fact that this tyre here has got a big trunk missing and it’s out of balance, and also that road was not ideal. The whole thing was skating around so let’s have a little listen to this esc compared to the other esc and see what the tone sounds like, because if they have, if they have the same pitch, son, probably the same rpm, in which case we’re going to put The max 5 back in gear it up and then get a whole load more speed out of this car. Así que ahí tienes. Both esc’s sounded the exact same when they had the pinion off on on full power.
So we’re going to put this esc back in it again, we’re going to gear it up, we’re going to get more speed runs out of it. The goal of this car is to get it to go over 100 milla, an hour on grass and we’re, going to be doing that very soon and also we’re going to be rebuilding this car got a whole load of new parts.
