I picked up 2 of these a few months ago. A green and a red one. Really they have been good for the kids to zip around in the dirt at the state park. The one downside so far has been the controllers. After the kids ran them a few times the contacts for the steering has gotten finicky. You have to kind of push down and turn. Are there any controllers you would recommend for kids with these?
Typical slick promo . All products do it these days and have for years . Guess what?, a slinky really won’t walk down stairs . Shocking I know . One thing you seem to miss the mark on when promoting RC hobbies for families . When I buy for the family I’m buying four of whatever toy it is … So when you say “ just a little more money and you can buy this much better car “ that’s doable for a family of one , but when you’re buying in multiples of four , and five hobby grade RCs for all ain’t happening . This was a perfect fit for alarge family . Everyone gets their own car , everyone can race ( or crash derby ) together , everyone is smiling, laughing and having fun . I believe that fits the definition of family fun and entertainment ..
I was really into RC cars as a kid. Nitro and all that. I am starting to get back into it as an adult because its fun. And I can actually afford it now. Is it worth buying these cheaper chasis and upgrading to brushless motor and shocks and wheels and such? Is this model upgradable?

I bought this for my nephew (6y) for Xmas. It was $50 at the time. When I got it, I was super excited for him because it looks amazing. That's where the excitement ended unfortunately. The controller felt like $h!t and non proportional controls made it feel like a kids toy. I returned it immediately! Ordered another car for $55…new car was faster 36kph, had proportional controls, and looked just as good. The car in this video is not worth $50…Pas $45 either. Maybe $30. I cannot believe this car has so many 5 star reviews…I guess people just don't know better.

Nope, for me still anything that has trim on the r/c car itself is just a waste of money.
One would be better off buying a cheap micro drone which would be full of features.
I might consider gifting this to the child of my enemy in hopes they will want a better r/c and force their parents to buy them one….but no maybe something that makes noise/sound would be cheaper and seemingly gracious hehehe

WOW that thing is TERRIBLE, and that Video is SOOO 90's and probably filmed exclusively DOWN HILL! I bought a New Bright for my GF's Daughter for $39 black friday at WALMART!!! and it is faster, has proprtional throttle, does wheelies and goes through grass better only negative was expensive proprietary batteries so it was cheaper to buy a second car than to buy and extra battery and charger for hers when we all go Trailing and at least i have spare parts for it now.
