Volcan Redcat 16 stock and how to upgrade walk threw

I just wanted to go through what was different about mine versus out of box, so these things are 1 18 Échelle. They remind me more of a 1 12 scale because well let’s face it if you’ve owned one. You know what i’m talking about they’re, Pas vraiment 1. 18. If you ask me the wheelbase and the size of it in general, it reminds me of a 112 Échelle. Although it is the same size as what is it, the ecx 120 Non 120 118 Échelles, euh .c’est, not as big as i thought it would be, but no matter. Having said that, it is freaking awesome for a hundred bucks. You get a basher, you get everything you need so this one i just got. I just got it in the mail today. This is stock. Nothing done to this. I repositioned the shocks, the way that they are on this one. Just so when i do a run test later, you guys can see what i’m talking about so let’s take the body off. You have a ‘0 motor it’s, actually not too bad for being a brushed motor. It can be pretty quick once you’ve upgraded it, but i’ll go through that and tell you what i’ve done so you got the ‘0 motor it’s got a lot of torque you’ve got an ecs receiver combo. I don’t like these this one isn’t too bad it’s. Just not waterproof it’s, splash, proof, uh and then you’ve got a mini servo.

So this isn’t, like a mini mini servo, Comme toi, would use in a ecx ecx stx24 uh. I did, Cependant, put an scx24 servo in this we’ll. Go through that here. In a little bit so you don’t have oil filled shocks. They are pretty bouncy Music they’re, pas trop mal. To be completely honest, it just depends on how you want to set up your shocks. You do have three different shock positions that you can do. I know you probably can’t, see it but there’s this one’s on the end, one there’s a center one and an outside one uh. I like putting it up as high as possible. Just because you know you get more of a ground clearance that way so with it set up normally it’s about, like that so there’s this. This is the stock version and on the front, you have two different shock setups you can put it on the inside, which is what i do for more spring. It just gives it more cushion when it lands uh, and then you have the outside one, which give it a little bit of a not really wider stance, but it it would push out the wheels a little bit and camber them in towards the truck. Je, like my wheels as flat as possible. I know the back isn’t it. It actually does sit flat with them all the way out with them all the way in i’m. Pardon, the shocks are all the way in with you set them all the way out.

The wheels would be straight, but you can see this one. This is the stock one i’m going to show you the bounce on this one, one more time. d'accord, now this is my modified one. I’Ll show you the bounce on this one that’s, how you’re supposed to do it it’s supposed to absorb the shock it’s not supposed to bounce. So this is my upgraded one. J’ai un 1 10 scale esc in it, there’s no wrong way to upgrade these. If you can figure out how to upgrade them, it’s not that big of a deal. So this is a hobby wing, Slash, redcat, Esc, Brushless, motor brushless, moteur brossé. Sorry uh still got the ‘0 Moteur. I got a red cat receiver in here. The esc is put on the backbone right up here with double sided, Ruban adhésif, and then there is my actual mini servo. It has a lot of torque. It has not once been over uh overloaded going as fast as this thing can go. It hasn’t been overloaded, which is pretty surprising, because this one’s much faster than the stock one uh. I think this servo gives it a little bit more oomph, because this one is for a 1 18 Échelle, which they kind of slowed it down a little bit, not because they meant to. I just think that’s the way this esc is and yes, the remote transmitter receiver. Whatever you want to call, it does have a throttle, control on it, you can make it go a lot faster uh.

Let me just go. Get that real quick to. Let you guys see it, so this is the remote it comes with. Let me do it like that there we go see, this has a speed setting on it. You can put it on the least amount of speed, or you can put it on the highest amount of speed uh. Some people prefer that i do not so that’s why i went ahead and took this radio out plus i didn’t like the esc in it the esc, receiver combo, Je ne. Like those, i know some people do that’s your opinion. I really don’t have a problem with it. I just personally do not like them uh. You do have an auxiliary button here for lights. I did not put lights in this one. I just got it out of the box to show it to you guys, euh .e uh. I do prefer this one. I got red cat receiver, redcat, Esc 110 esc i’ve got uh. Qu'est-ce que c est? UNE 17 gram servo mini servo in there? The way i did that is, i put a piece of stick: double sided, sticky tape up top and a piece of double sided. Sticky tape on the bottom and the only reason being is because it gave it. It was too small, uh tall wise. It was just entirely too small, so putting a piece on each side raised. It up, gave it a little bit more girth, which made it pretty sturdy.

In all honesty you can see in here it doesn’t doesn’t move, and then i have a 1 000 Milliampères, 2s lipo. These are hard to find. I got mine on amazon, Oui, c'est, Un 35 cell. I would rather have a 35 cell 1 000 milliamp than you know, 35 cell 450 Milliampères, because you can use the sdx 24 batteries in this. They just don’t last very long. Je pense, maybe at the most running it full out the entire time it probably lasts. Five, maybe eight minutes this one actually lasts close to 15 À 20. everything you’re, seeing too you can get on amazon for pretty cheap. Il s’agissait de 20 for two of them, which, if you ask me, is a pretty good price for something that you actually need uh. I got oil filled, shocks off amazon, they’re in plastic body, but they have uh aluminum top cap and aluminum. I can see if i can get that down. Yeah a little bit. An aluminum bottomed cap they’ve got aluminum uh aluminum aluminum screw things. I don’t really know what you want to call them. Some people know exactly what they are. Let me know what they are called. I can’t think of the name of them these things right here, mais euh oui, donc il ya, the servo there’s, l’esc, i’ve got the lights in i’ve got redcat receiver ‘0 motor still, and this thing does wheelies. Now that i have taken that esc out uh.

We will do a speed, Courir. Video and i’ll just show you, you know how each one of them handles later on. I just want to get this one uploaded, because i know some people are curious. Got this off amazon. 24. 2.. 17. For this 17 gram servo. This receiver, i mean receiver, this esc. I think you can get off amazon for like 20 Ou 30 Dollars. I just had a whole bunch of them because i take them out and i usually put my rc car cars brushless. So i put a different motor combo esc combo in them uh. So i have these just lying around. I think i have three more uh receivers. Cependant, i don’t have any more uh free, remote controls to be able to take this off of the other one. I will, Cependant, order one at some point, because i do not like those, but this one will probably just be a show model there for a little bit until something breaks on this one, and then i have to go back to that one, while i’m waiting on Parts you can upgrade these to aluminum drive shafts the inside uh diffs they’re, all plastic. You can upgrade them to all metal. You can upgrade the center drive, shaft it’s, actually pretty sturdy it’s, not really steel, but it’s uh. I think it’s actually aluminum, but i haven’t had a problem with it. Yet with torque uh, you can change the hubs, le e uh ..

What are they called the diff caps? You can change everything out to metal on it. On redcat i haven’t been able to find anything on amazon. Yet there is some on ebay. The upgrades for this. To me i mean i was only able to find one uh differential metal upgrade. So i mean i’m not going to just order one so i’m, probably going to go to redcat the driveshafts themselves. Je pense qu’ils sont, six dollars and the front one is a uh. I can’t think of the name of it. These don’t come apart. They are all one piece: the back ones are actually dog bones these slip out of each other uh. These, Je pense, are four dollars. These are eight dollars, uh the caps on all of them the wheels the hub assembly. Il s’est, Je pense, four dollars for a set, and then you can buy a center’s drive shaft. It comes with a cup and a uh. I don’t really know what you call it, because this thing is kind of like a uh it’s, not round it’s it’s weird, but uh you’ll see what i’m saying here: i’ll spin it so that actually fits into the rear. There’S no cup on the rear. Back here that actually slides into a piece that’s actually like uh, been contoured, so this thing can slide into it. Euh, mais oui, c’est, not a bad little truck. You can upgrade the spur gear you can get new engines.

Uh i’ve just been scared to buy a brushless conversion, just because this thing already likes to wheelie, but um yeah. I think i’m gon na keep it brush brushed just because i think it’s a little bit more fun. I mean you get a brushless engine in it and then it’s all to me. The wheelbase is too narrow. If it was just a little bit wider, i probably would put brushless in it, but this thing already likes to wheely uh. You get it up to full speed, you turn it real, sharp it likes to tip over on two wheels but it’s for a hundred bucks. You can’t beat it and for amazon. Prime shipping, you can’t beat that either uh. They just went through a sale for 85. They knocked 10 bucks off of it. It ended uh march 15th, so i mean i’m putting this video out a little bit late for you guys, Je suis. Pardon, but you know i had to get the other one, so i could show you guys the stock version versus my version so yeah i really enjoy these 100 Dollars. You get yourself a complete rc. I do hate the batteries i’ll get the battery. Il s’est 800 Milliampères, lithium ions. Some people prefer these. I hate these just because you know they’re, two batteries put together. Whoopty do two double a’s. You recharge lithium ion great. I do prefer lipo batteries because they’re easier to take care of. I actually have chargers for them.

The one that comes with this is just a wall plug you, Ne, even balance it or anything. So i mean these are cheap batteries. The you can get an upgrade on redcat for a 1300 milliamp lithium ion battery, but you know i mean, for i think it was 17 and get two of these. For 20., i mean to me that’s just a no brainer but either way uh that’s the way. I upgraded this one, so if you guys have any questions, just let me know, i have zero problems answering them.
