So basically, i haven’t had a proper motor in my four wheel, buggy for a while now my original motor, i overheated, then i was running my old motor but that wasn’t cutting it. So i borrowed something and uh. Finally, i got a replacement of my own, so i could return the borrowed motor and have a proper motor for my car before some big races i’m. Going to i want to apologize for not making a video last week. I was planning on it, but uh then i ended up working a whole lot like 10 days in a row. We got snowed in and i skipped a track day. So really it wasn’t going my way and uh. My video plane fell through Music but uh. Here i am back this week and uh yeah. I got this trinity motor it’s, a 13.5 for my four wheel, buggy i’m gon na run it on an analyzer, real, quick and just see what kind of numbers i get from it. Compared to my old motors before i hit the track. Okay, i’m. Going to open up the box for the first time with my trusty hubby knife Music, i pretty much know what to expect. It should look like my 17 5 motor here are the specs from trinity that will be comparing to today on the motor analyzer, and here is the motor nice strong, rotor milled out like crazy, so it’s lightweight black end belt, because it is certified.
Ceramic bearings. Shimmed looks really nice see if anything else came in the box looks like nope, nothing, no sensor wire, all right, that’s, okay! I have one okay, so i’m gon na hook it up to my analyzer now and see how it is: okay, here’s, the motor hooked up to the analyzer and first thing. I’Ll check is the timing of it and compare it to the sheet that trinity sent out. So average seems to be about 46 degrees, 48, 45 44.. They have 48.7, 49.1 and 47.2, so that is a little bit off all right, let’s see so this will be kv rpms and how many amps it’s pulling my battery voltage is a little low for this test, but that’s, okay, okay, so it looks almost 3700 kv. That’S uh not too high 5.5 amps, um yeah let’s see what they have on the sheet yeah. It seems well it’s, pretty close, so it seems as if uh, maybe the inaccuracy of this device, particularly is the issue here. But uh looks to be pretty close to what they’ve uh, what they’ve come up with and um yeah like i said, uh their devices are probably way better than this one, so should be okay, i’m, not gon na touch it uh i’m, just going to gear it Uh 72, 23 and uh put it in my car and see how it goes from there i’ll check the temps when i’m done and uh after that.
If i need to up the timing or something i will that’s the specs of the motor on the sky, rc motor analyzer, and just to compare real quick to some of my other motors, for example, the reedy 13 5s plus at 43 degrees timing. It was almost ’00 kv, almost 30 000 rpms and 5.4 amp draw and then uh my tkin 13 5 spec car when it was new that was 50 degrees. Timing, 4500 kv and the battery was a little fuller that time when i tested it. So it was at about 7.9 volts for this motor. It was 7.5, so you can expect a little bit of gain there and then the draw was 5.4 as well and 35 000 rpm, so that motor really like to spin up pretty high. So this motor kind of falls a little short on power from the looks of it. But uh so did my trinity 17 5, and it was just i mean it’s it’s, unbelievable. Actually how good the motor is. So i don’t know if uh, like the kind of lower numbers, mean much here, because uh i’m expecting this to be just as good as my 17 5.
