ARRMA Outcast 8s long term review
I did miss a couple things. I do these off the cuff, so forgive me uh. I need to work on that, but uh i did lock the center diff with ear plugs, which highly recommend it, and then i put i changed my punch level to four and my brake to 62. I believe whatever it is it’s like 60, something i think. To je. 62. so punch level, 4, i’m running and break 62 and then lock your center diff. So you’re going to see this before i go over the truck in the video sorry, i forgot it and uh catch you guys in the next one. What up everybody chef, pierce lee um, as you guys know, by the um title of this video? This is gon na, be a long term review after putting a bunch of packs through the outcast uh. How i think it held up well, Mislim, needs to be upgraded um, because i seen some hate the other day on the arma facebook group um, some guy talking a lot of trash about it and uh he’s. Having some issues we’ll talk about that when we get to mine but uh, i long story short. I don’t think i haven’t had really many issues with this um. Tako, oh and uh that’s my new intro until i get my uh logo made because i have someone working on it um i just just wanted a logo so it’s just this flying through the air with my name.
Očito, you guys see it that’s gon na be my new intro for a while until i get my uh logo, but here she is obviously we’re gon na look at the body first, i did nothing to this. I did not shoe do it. I didn’t do anything. Um, if you guys watch my videos, this thing took some hard hits and honestly for what it went through. The body really isn’t that bad, like yeah, got some crunches here. We got a slice here slices in the back, but i frankenstein those together with some zip ties to hold them from split more which, after this i’m going to do that here, to keep it together. But overall it held up pretty well uh yeah. This is an issue. Everybody knows about this issue. Uh there are things you can do, but when i get a new body, i’ll do those things, but i want to see how this was actually going to hold up and honestly for what it went through his body held up really well so let’s toss this out Of the way, Dobro, sorry guys, my gopro stopped recording, but i got the beginning. I just rewatched it. So what i was saying like in my first uh run video when i first got this out. I didn’t do nothing crazy, but i did slam a curb. Really hard, if i can get that clip i’ll put it in right here. So if you guys watch that clip, if i got got that to work um, i did bend the shock shaft um, which i think was just fine.
I slammed that really hard. So i switched to the m2c uh m2c shock, shafts, all the way around. If your guys are going to do that, which i recommend doing uh, you have to get the rear. Crane 8s shock shafts all the way around, because that’s what this runs all the way around um and ever since then never had an issue thing just phenomenal. I was launching it the other day, no, no ben’s in the shock shop since which is fantastic. A couple videos later i was ironing it out at the pit and i broke. I believe the front left lower a arm, so um they’re notorious to break um. So i had rpm ones already in the in the shop here, so i’ve swapped, those out and haven’t broken one since and i’ve been airing out higher than before, and haven’t had an issue with them breaking. I have an issue with the shock ends here, with the ball ends in it uh breaking now, because i believe these are over extending, because if you notice these arms don’t touch the chassis now right there, the stock ones did so now. I think it’s over extending so when it comes off the lips, it’s like bam and it’s, slamming down on these and it’s breaking the end caps here, so what i’m gon na do? I actually ordered up limiting straps for the laser nut. I believe and i’m going to figure out a way to make these work to limit the travel to just a smidge, so it stops sliming down and once that fixture once that issue’s fixed in the rear.
I don’t think i’m going to have any more issues with that because uh like i said they do not, they do not touch the chassis anymore when it goes off of a jump, so i think that’s my issue there uh. What else did i break um? I do bend uh the drive shafts. I bet one in the front but that’s fixed. I bet one the other day here. If you can see how it’s bowed down um, i think it’s, because these rpm arms do flex more so it’s kind of like a trade off like instead of snapping arms i’m. Bending these, so people do make titanium. Um shafts i’ll probably look into those um but i’m gon na see what happens. I do the limiting straps and i do have one more stock, one but i’m just going to straighten this out myself and keep that stock mount for when i really bend one really badly so it’s kind of a trade off these are softer arms, so they don’t Break but you’re probably going to bend these shafts but we’ll look into the titanium ones, because those are pretty legit, so we’ll, maybe we’ll get those uh. Another issue i had was my set screw for my opinion. I don’t know if you guys will be able to see this came out, so i don’t have a set screw in there. So there’s some play before this. Even moves there’s play here. Um. It is a d shape.
So it honestly my what past two three runs. I didn’t have a set screw in there and it’s been no issue, so i do have new set screws uh. I did swap out to the noble receiver in here, which i didn’t have any issues with the remote unbinding, because some people did, but i swapped it out before that was even an issue. So i don’t i can’t speak on that terms, but i know a lot of people are having issues with their remotes on binding personally people. I know so that might be something to keep in mind. I am running. I got the first pre order in it’s. The first rc i ever pre ordered i got the pre order in and it used to come with a gear. I forget what pinion it was on it, but it came with a 23 in the box and i put that on right off the bat. I never had the other gear on there, but the new the version twos come with the 23 already on there and you don’t even get another gear so right out of the box. Excuse me, with a brand new one it’s coming with 23s now, which i recommend so um stock electronics. All the way around haven’t had any heat issues with the 23 iron it out back flips all that stuff um, the chassis surprisingly still holding really strong uh. Is it tweaked, probably because just because it’s obviously aluminum but uh it it honestly if it’s tweaked it’s, not bad it’s, still going good um? So i would like to get an m2c at some point because i think i’m pushing it to his limits, and i have plans for this later that it’s probably going to bend eventually but as of right.
Nwo, if you guys watch my videos, i’ll link a couple in the description, this thing takes nose, dives it’s launching 50 feet in the air slamming down in the front. Tako, like i really haven’t had many issues, especially after i swapped out the arms. If i didn’t swap out the arms, i think i would have been snapping the stock arms left and right um what else i did bend when uh one of these rods, which i have coming in, not a big deal because, like i said man, this thing gets Launched and honestly, the only other issue i have is pushing these rod ends in which is a known issue, so i’m actually going to screw these in all the way and put them in this other hole here, because these are back here, if you screw them in All the way and put them here, it probably won’t – have that issue anymore, but i think that’s all the bad mixed in with some of the good. No, i i can’t recommend this enough. I really can’t with those little upgrades get m2c shock. Shafts get those ready because they’re probably going to bend them, get some rpm arms, probably get limiting straps. I can’t right. I don’t know if that’s going to fix the issue with the ends on the shocks here, but i think it will, because i didn’t have the issue until i swapped over to these, because the stock arms. I think i have one right here.
The stock arms hit um the chassis, so it actually limits it a little bit, so it doesn’t get the full the full slam on the shock. So i dude i did uh, i think those uh i’m. Sorry, i think those limiting straps are actually going to fix that issue. Once the issue is fixed. I think this thing’s going to be pretty much bulletproof um yeah. I i can’t recommend it enough. I really can’t uh, it flies great uh. It goes quick honestly. I know people put coke cans in here and stuff. I don’t personally think it needs it. Um the power to weight ratio is phenomenal. The tires are good and grippy um. I haven’t blown them off the rims, yet uh yeah, i just every time i take it out. It just puts a smile on my face, guys so i’m doing this uh long, this um long term review because one i seen that guy really bashing on one of these. He had shocks on here from uh. I forget what they are, but the diameter of the of the shock shaft is huge and he put him. He had rpm arms on and he snapped an rpm arm and i think the reason was because that shock shaft is so thick. It broke right near that area, so i don’t think i think it it went to bend but that shock shaft then let it bend and it snapped it and he like lost his mind.
But if you guys watch like i said, i’ll link my most recent bash video in the description i think was flying and took some horrible hits and it it kept. It’S kept kicking dude like oh and this right here. This goes to show you how hard i was bashing. This thing i snapped both battery trays, so i came down so hard on the front end that this lipo here actually got cut. It slimed so hard forward that this bat, this battery, came ripping through the battery box and snapped these. So i have these coming too so yeah, like i don’t understand i i don’t understand how the chest is still straight. I don’t know if i got a diamond in a rough or what, but for the batteries? Oh, i also broke the battery strap um for the batteries to come, ripping through, like that landing from like 40 50 feet straight down on its nose, and the chat should still be straight. That says something guys in my book and you know: Ja sam, not gon na lie to you guys if i thought it wasn’t worth it. I tell you but there’s, nothing. Even a stock electronics, Mislim, are working fine for me. Um, though esc motor wire comes out. Every once a while, if i’m launching it super high and lands upside down when i pop out by just widening the hole and put it back in and it’s good to go or widen the pins, uh yeah, i can’t can’t – think of any other issues ahead.
So what i’m going to do is like i was saying the reason why i’m doing this long term review is this thing’s been used and abused so when the parts get here they shouldn’t? I think they should be here thursday, except the limiting straps i’m gon na. Do a live stream i’m gon na break it down not completely, but take the front and rear bulkheads off clean. It really well put a set screw back in the pinion because it hasn’t been in there in a while. Just give it a good once over scrub. Everything down with 301, i mean not 3 1, with um, simple, green and i’m going to go through all the bearings take the covers off clean them, grease them put them back together because it needs some love but overall, for what i put this thing through it’s. All justified all of it um this isn’t in comparison to the x max yet um. This is gon na be on the bench for a little while, so i can get more time with the x max get the two stroke out for you guys get some nitros out for you, guys i’m gon na be breaking in that um lozy. Very soon. I got the fuel coming, but i just felt like i want to give this thing a proper review, the best of mine. I can do. Oh one other thing: looking at the wing the one time this line is so hard upside down that the shock tower didn’t break the bulkhead didn’t break the bolts that held the wing on broke that’s it.
So i just got different bolts they’re, not the armor ones, but they’re a little longer, but they work and haven’t had an issue. Like everything i’m saying i know it sounds like i did a lot, but if you think about it, i really didn’t for what i put it through one that was all justified and two after the rpm arms and mtc shock, shafts, which i can’t recommend enough. Um. No big issues, none um. Once we put the limiting straps on, i think that’s gon na fix the shock ends uh, where the balls are from breaking and that’s it it’s it’s a beast, get you one it’s, not in your budget figure out a way man. I love it so again, uh if you’re new to the channel. I appreciate you guys coming in checking this out.
