Redcat Racing Landslide XTE Review!
Ovo je 1 8 Skala. 4 wheel, drive 4s brushless monster truck. You can get for 300, now that’s an excellent price because 300 Dolara. Usually it will only get you a tenth scale, brushless monster truck, but to get an eighth scale for that, for that amount of money – it’s just too good to be true right, Uh, but once you really dig into this truck, it kind of makes sense why this Truck is only 300. Is it because it’s a bad truck, um i’ll, give you a spoiler, no it’s, not a bad truck. There are legitimate reasons why this thing is so cheap. The main thing being this truck is based on a 1 8 scale buggy, and you can see it has a aluminum chassis. You can’t see. Kao što možete vidjeti, this is an aluminum chassis with all counter sunk, hex hardware – Vrlo, very nice, very eight scale, buggy fare, but usually when companies go and convert eight scale buggies into monster trucks they will get, they will make a lot of mechanical changes to get It to that point basically, the only thing the two vehicles will share is the chassis, whereas this one is changed very little between the buggy version and the monster truck version other than the cosmetics that’s. The main reason why you can get it for so cheap uh byproduct of that is this, even though it is an eight scale monster truck. It is pretty small it’s about the size, wheelbase wise of a tenth scale, short horse truck it’s, obviously a lot wider, because it is a monster truck it’s, To je, probably closer to a ninth scale, vehicle um than an actual eight scale monster truck.
So that is something to keep in mind, but it does use 17 millimeter um hex hubs and 17 millimeter lock nuts. So that is well that lock nut serrated nuts, so uh it is typical. Eighth kill. Eighth scale fare there. The body personally is one uh. One thing that kind of drew me to this truck. I really like the look of the body i like i love this truck. Look um nice fender flares on here. I love the color of it i’m, a big fan of blue and some blue truck um. It has that uh ford super duty kind of look going to it and i’m, a big fan of how those look – and it has these nice, like flame details going on in the front and on the on the sides. It looks it’s a very nice looking body but, as you can see with mine, it is pretty beat up and unfortunately the body itself is made out of pvc, not lexan, so it will crack. It will get destroyed pretty easily also because the truck is pretty heavy. Probably weighs around 10 pounds or so so the body does not stand up to abuse. So you want to kind of reinforce it with duct tape and shugu, which is kind of what i’ve gone and done with this one. But evidently i’ve missed a couple spots and because of another part that broke, i had an incident where i actually ran over the body, which is why mine’s so destroyed um.
While we’re talking about stuff, we can see on the exterior the wheels and tires are very nice. These are some of the best wheels and tires i’ve ever seen on a stock monster truck. You can see i’m pushing pretty hard there, and these tires are very soft. Very grippy, these are very nice tires. I love these tires. Um. These the tires themselves are the same as the ones that come on the redcat ground. Pounder um the wheels are the same mold as well. The difference is this: one has a larger hole, does not have the 12 millimeter adapter, so you can fit on this. Eight scale style, drivetrain and also this version has foams in it, which makes the tires actually usable. So very nice tires and i love the look of the wheels. The wheels are also very pliable, so they will be very durable for you, the radio the truck comes with. Is this rcr2ce radio it’s a pretty basic two channel radio, but it is. It is nice as far as rtr radios go. This is a genuine fly sky radio. You can read it on the sticker at the bottom, so that is nice. That it’s not like a copy of anything it’s. A genuine radio. The steering wheel has a nice rubber grip on it. I really like the look of that um. It has a nice dust cover for the all the adjustments plenty of adjustments in there steering throttle reverse binding um steering trim, Gasa, trim dual rate, steering dual rate um on the on and off here, and you can see they put a new cover over the led Lights, so they don’t blind your face when you turn them on, like the old ones used to so that’s very nice to see only takes four double a’s and pretty basic radio like i mentioned, but feels very high quality and a very nice radio, electronics wise.
We get a 120 amp esc that’s in here, put the fan on it. Waterproof dean’s connectors dual dean’s connector, so you can run two 2s batteries for 4s. Um 4s is the maximum. You can run on this. This tag right here actually tells you you can’t, run more than 3s, but ignore it it’s wrong. The motor is a 1920 kv, uh motor and with a very nice and large aluminum heatsink on it, the motor stays nice and cool. So the gearing seems like it’s proper and the truck features a center diff uh, that is not oil filled it’s only grease filled. So if you want to tune the diff you’re gon na have to take it apart and put your own fluid in there. But at least it is tunable so driving on 4s on flat surfaces like this, where mostly flat surfaces, the truck the first thing you notice it has a lot of punch um. It accelerates up to speed very very quickly and if you stand on the throttle for uh for a while and get the center diff uh spooled up, then it starts to pop those wheelies and it’s. Just a really exciting truck to drive even on just a flat surface like this um, and especially for me, since this is my first ever like 4s brushless truck i’ve ever driven i’ve mostly used the nickel metal hydride stuff. So for me, there’s a lot of flying hues like even on a flat surface here on a different day.
The ground is a little bit more damp, so has a bit more traction and you can see it’s popping a bit more wheelies. The front tires do balloon, though uh quite a bit and that’s, because, like i mentioned before, the center diff does not have any fluid in it. So that’s something you’re definitely gon na want to tune in order to get a little bit better performance out of the truck on the flat surface so moving over to the dirt. We have kind of a loose surface on top of the damp dirt. So the surface isn’t very consistent here, but nevertheless the tires do an excellent job of providing traction for the truck um. They are soft enough and an aggressive enough tread where the truck is able to be propelled forward with without much trouble. Nwo, with that said, even with the loose layer on top the truck doesn’t really slide around a lot like you would expect it to especially with the short wheel base, but because of the alignment and the strain suspension geometry of it. I think that actually helps it. Keep straighter so when the suspension cycles uh, it tends to toe in the farther it compresses and even at full droop. The suspension is still towed in so that toe end really helps the truck stay straight and really aids in controllability of the truck. So we’re back at the same area on a different day. The track is a bit wet and muddy, but we can still see how the truck performs in the air uh thanks to its aluminum chassis and buggy design.
The truck flies through the air very well and is very controllable in the air upon landing, though the truck tends to slap the chassis, hard and bounce back up a bit because the shock setup on it isn’t great the springs are a little bit too soft, and I think the oil is a bit soft too, but the truck also is a bit sensitive to control input in the air due to its large tires, i povrh toga, the stock radio has a bit of a throttle delay. So it can be a bit difficult to control accurately excuse, especially if you’re a newbie to a truck like this, like me, Uh. So this resulted in a lot of unintended durability, testing and i consistently broke the rear body mount and the and eventually i also broke the rear plumper. The aluminum chassis also bent on my first 4s run with the truck stock, so the m2c racing chassis brace, is something i’ll. Definitely recommend you get right away if you’re interested in the truck with the brace the chassis venting issue is um completely eliminated. The brace brings the total price of the truck to 380, which is still pretty cheap and competitively priced for what it is, but for just 20 more than that, you can get the red cat kaiju, which is a similar size, but 6s monster truck. So you’re gon na have to kind of decide if you want a high center of clearance, a stunt truck or a lower center of gravity, performance, oriented monster truck, but other than those issues.
The truck was pretty bulletproof. It was driven at a maximum of 35 degree. Fahrenheit weather and nothing else broke on it, so i’m really satisfied and impressed with the durability of the landslide we’re out here in the snow, though let’s see how the landslide did here, the snow is on top of grass, so the traction is a bit higher than It would normally be on a harder surface, but the truck plows through really well thanks to its high power and the fact. The ballooning of the tires act like pizza cutters and cut down through the snow to the actual terrain. But the thing that becomes more obvious in the snow, Iako, is the fact that the front tires do balloon a lot more than the rears, so the center diff really really needs some fluid. It looks crazy and fun and it’s exciting, but i would prefer, if it wasn’t quite that loose moving to the track. The snow is on now on top of hard packed frozen dirt. So there is a bit more sliding going on here, but the landslide still performs great on the surface. The center diff on the truck allows the truck to corner very well when you wanted to, and the strange toe end bumps here at the rear, helps here again keeping the truck straight on acceleration on the straights. The truck is also very symmetrical in the chassis setup. Left to right, so that also helps with the balance and the handling of the truck and, as we saw before, it also flies excellently through the through all the jumps and even stock.
Like this, the truck is very easy to handle on the track, and it handles well with just a bit of tune up. This thing would be an absolute track weapon, Mislim. As far as monster trucks go, is it a decent snow track, or is it too muddy? Tako, to summarize, this is a very nice truck, it’s it’s, exciting to drive there’s, never a dull moment with this truck it handles very well thanks to the aluminum chassis and the center diff. The tires are also fantastic so that that helps with performance as well. The truck, as you saw, is very, very durable, um (1998, Glazba. Even in cold weather, there were only very minor parts that broke on it. The electronics have stood up. A lot of people have had runaway issue with this electronics. Typically, this uh the receiver, but i personally haven’t had a lot of issues with regarding that. So for me anyway, the electronics have stood up pretty well. Even the servo didn’t really seem like it. I was longing for a stronger or faster servo um overall, really nice truck it’s, very durable, easy to work on easy to find parts on parts. Four um can’t say enough, good things about it. Naravno, some complaints i did have about it is the battery, especially with this upper brace installed. The battery is kind of annoying to install, especially with these straps, so that is a that is a a little bit of a snag.
Um. The fact that it requires a aftermarket brace is also a big sticking point for recommending this truck. But as long as m2c racing offers this brace, i can. I can confidently recommend the redcat landslide xte it’s, an amazing truck it’s, a fun truck easy to work on very good value, even after buying the aftermarket brace for it. So if you are even looking at this truck um, i would say pull the trigger on it. It’S a great truck – and i will personally be keeping this around a little bit longer than i than i originally anticipated. I will be changing some stuff up like changing tires. Changing the body just changing some stuff about it tuning it up a little bit to drive a little bit better, also learning how to drive better but um. Amazing amazing, truck uh yeah. I don’t have anything else to say about it and so at the risk of rambling on and gushing too much about this truck, i will let you guys go. Thank you guys so much for watching. I know the lighting wasn’t very good here i have to. I have to figure out a better way to film reviews of some larger vehicles like this, but um, and the review was a little bit longer, but a lot of people told me they preferred this style. Tako, thank you guys for your input and as always, thank you guys so much for watching subscribe, come leave.
