Unboxing and installing a Victory RC silenced exhaust onto the Losi MTXL
Why you clicked on the video so let’s get into it, that’s right guys in this video we’re just going to be unboxing and installing the exhaust i just got for my losi mtxl, so i’m, going to open the box! Show you what i got now. I ordered this from dave’s discount motors and i’ll attach a link to what i got and if, by some chance you don’t see that link. Just let me know in the comments below, because i probably forgot, but i’ll do my best to try and attach a link below alright, so here’s the exhaust here now. The reason i got an exhaust for the truck is because everything else i have has an exhaust except my wife’s minivan, which i might end up putting one on, but for now we’re just going to put a an exhaust on my little rc truck. You want to be in this video braxton all right come on all right, so we got an exhaust for the truck dude. You want to tell the people out there. What the cool features of this exhaust are is for dad’s truck from a little rc truck. Yeah is it going to make it louder, yeah all right, not that loud, not that bad, your brother’s sleeping, but yeah here’s what you get in the package. This is a victory, racing exhaust and just comes with the main pipe here and then all the stuff. To hook it up to the to the truck all right dude, so you got your little collector here: that’s your silicone coupler and then a rubber mount to mount it to the body of the truck and then just the mounting brackets to mount that up.
Couple zip ties a couple bolts, To je, okay spring goes black it’s, fine and then it also looks like they came with a sticker. Look at this dude. Every time you get parts, they come with cool stickers. You want to put that on something yeah, Ok, you can, and it looks like they came with a mint. You want to try this mint. No, you don’t want to give a review on the mint that they put in the box. I will oh, it looks like chocolate actually here give it a try. You don’t want to taste it. Ok, i will. It was a chocolate mint that was delicious. It came with. It came with a chocolate mint too dude all right. So this is what comes in the box now this is a silenced muffler. I didn’t go with the racing. One tell you what if i get 50 000 views on this video i’ll do a racing exhaust comparison, but since i don’t see that happening, we’re just going to put the silenced one on, because, quite honestly it was for a really good price. This was probably about half the price of the racing one. I think they were on special, so that’s why i went with this one. Are you done? You want to say anything to him when you’re leaving subscribe to our channel now bye, Ok, thanks bud, but yeah the reason i went with the silence one. It was a lot cheaper than the noisier one, not maybe because of performance, but i don’t really care it’s.
An rc truck i’m, not racing anybody, so it’s gon na be a lot louder than the stock one, and when we actually go over to the truck to install this i’ll show you the reason why i’ve been wanting to get an exhaust for this truck but that’s? What you get you know enough stuff to install. It does not come with installation instructions. So hey. Maybe this is your installation, Video, but it seems pretty straightforward to me as to how to install this so i’m just going to gather the tools. I need looks like all right, so the tools we’re going to be using some rubbing alcohol, a rag, a drill with a 3 16 drill bit some loctite red loctite, something to make a mark with so a sharpie 10 millimeter and an 8 millimeter wrench. A pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of diagonal cutters, these actually have the diagonal cutters in built into them. So i just needed that, but needle nose and diagonal cutters, a four millimeter allen socket or wrench. Now this i highly recommend a ball end: wrench, allen, wrench, four millimeter and you’ll – see why this is very useful in the video and then a five millimeter allen. Wrench and those are all the tools i use to do this job so let’s get started now. Besides sound one of the reasons that i want to get an exhaust – or i wanted to get an exhaust for this – is this little guy right here.
This is probably the 10th one of these i’ve put on and for those of you that are still running the stock exhaust on your mtxl. These crack break whatever and then hot exhaust blows onto your plastics. I haven’t had it melt the plastics yet, but i do see a lot of trucks where the plastics melted, because either they just took these off, because they’re getting frustrated, paying eight nine dollars pop for these things and then melting the plastics on their. You know 150 dollar body of their truck, so that’s. One of the reasons why i’m getting the exhaust and really that’s about the only downfall to the stock exhaust minus performance and i’m sure that this pipe here is going to give me some pretty decent performance gains. We’Ll probably have to tweak the carburetor to get it just set up just right, but that was the one pet peeve i had about the stock exhaust on this thing, so we’re gon na take it off now two bolts and then this thing’s out of here Music Looks like our factory exhaust gasket held up, so i said this is pretty low hours, so it shouldn’t be bad yet, but stock muffler out of here now. This is the racing muffler here, while the start to it it’s just the uh one that comes off of the head and it looks like you want to mount it with this angle, facing towards the front of the truck so like that i’m gon na put just A little bit of loctite on there, so not a crazy amount, should be enough.
So you can thread this bad boy in. I think that’s still a four millimeter. Let me see yep that’s, four millimeter and we’ll. Take our exhaust it’s got a little hook on one side hooks in there. Then we will take our other bolt, put a little loctite on that and we’ll thread that sucker in there alrighty so went out to the garage, and i got a ball socket so that i can get in there easier. So it looks like there are two different size washers. You just want to grab the smaller of the two there’s that one and there’s that one. So there is a size difference between those washers. Naravno, i would grab the wrong one. It only makes sense all right, tighten this bad boy down now you want to go tight without breaking the bolts. Remember these are tiny little bolts, so they don’t have to be crazy, tight and we’re going to take our spring just installed on this little loop here and then we’ll install it later. Alright, so it’s pretty snug fit there, and then you install the other side on that part, and then we will take our pliers pull this sucker tight, because this thing’s gon na do a lot of holding there. We go and there’s that that’s on it looks like not only does that coupler hold it in place, but it also it’s supposed to looks like form a better seal around everything all right so that’s in that’s, about where it’s gon na be right there.
So it looks like it mounts pretty nicely now. I just have to put the exhaust bracket on to turn a truck around to do that alrighty, so here’s, where that drill comes in handy. So once you have the exhaust mounted in kind of where you want it, i’ll show you guys. You want to make sure that everything is clear and what i mean by clear. Is you want to make sure that the exhaust is clearing things such as this? Little brace here and then it’s clearing everything else and not going to rub anything and the exhaust is going to shoot out of the truck down towards the ground, not melt anything in the process. So you just want to roughly put this in place because we are going to have to drill a hole into the body of the truck all right, so we’re going to take our mount here and it gets set up in this way here. I believe the only way that made sense to me just like that i’m just going to put it on the exhaust there and then wherever it touches flat on the body of the truck. Now again, we want everything to clear. So when we put this on, we want to make sure that it’s not touching anything and that it’s mounting solidly to the body of the truck everything feels nice and clear exhaust is still exiting outside of the truck. If anything, we might have to do some slight modification to the body back there, but everything feels right like it should fit.
Ok, Dobro, so i am going to mark that there get out my handy dandy marker mark that in and then i’m going to take the exhaust and kind of flip it up out of the way so that i can get my drill in on there. We don’t have to take the exhaust off except to get that away all right now i am using a 3 16 drill bit and i’m just going to drill down in, oh might have to do the old egg it out Music trick all right. So that’s a perfect fit there that’s what i would call that so we can now i’m gon na mount this to the exhaust here since it’s easy to get to now i’m going to put loctite on everything, so it does have lock washers but sometimes it’s. Just not enough, i feel like looking for this stuff in the event that it falls off, because trust me you’ll never find it if it falls off put that on alrighty, so the exhaust is roughly installed. I just have to tighten everything down and do some final checks making sure everything is clear, but that looks pretty good, so i’m, just going to now spend some time and snug everything up and then we’ll take a look at what it looks like after Music alrighty. So after everything is installed and all your clearances look good, you want to take that rubbing alcohol and your rag just want to wipe the exhaust down.
What you’re doing is you’re getting all your little greasy fingerprints off of there can’t see them, but once this exhaust pipe gets hot, what will end up happening? Is the oil from your fingerprints will actually burn into the exhaust? So you just want to give this a good wipe with some alcohol break cleaner. Whatever you have, i just have some rubbing alcohol, one Music, Glazba, Glazba, Glazba, wow, Glazba, alrighty, so there’s, just a little before and after sound wise as you can see, it’s definitely louder than stock. I don’t know how much louder it would be to get the unsilenced muffler i’d. Imagine it’s going to be probably a couple decibels louder, but i mean that’s loud enough, like i said, it’s the performance that it probably gained over the stock muffler. Now i didn’t do any type of tuning to it yet i’m sure i can tweak on the carburetor screws and get a little bit more performance out of it, but it runs sounds a lot better. Like i said you give me, 50 000 views on this video and i’ll go out and i’ll get the unsilenced one and we’ll do a back to back comparison of the two. But again since i don’t think that’s going to happen. We’Ll see in the next video guys i’m going to dedicate a whole video just to before and after sound clips. So that way, you just have a quick reference as to what stock was versus what it’s like with this exhaust pipe on it, but now, as always guys, if you like the video, please show your appreciation by hitting that thumbs up button.
