Today we are going to be unboxing, my hot new toy, which is the wl toys, one two, four zero one, eight now you’re thinking, richie i’ve already seen you do a speed run with this car. So it is indeed going to be a very quick unboxing, like it’s already out of the box there, but there are a few goodies to look at in there, which we shall look at in a second. But first of all, i just want to get the camera down to you around. The car show you the remote, which is not too bad at all and then talk about a little bit about the car and also put a link to the car below the video. Oh – and i would just say from the outset later on in this video i’m, going to be talking through why you should run this car on 3s, where i feel very very strongly. You should run this car on 3s and where you should have i’m going to explain well you’re going to have no fear of running the thing on 3s. Zapravo, i ran on about it later on in the video which i had to reshoot this a little bit for anyway. Let me show you around the car all joking aside. It is obviously the same box that they send the one two four zero one eight, which is this buggy version out, it’s the same box as the one, two, four zero one: nine.
Are they similar? Da, anyway, let’s move straight on to this baby. The key difference from the outset is obviously the body etc. On there eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted the rear suspension completely different from the angle on the one two four zero nine, the buggy version is upright going to the rear shock tower on this. The shock is actually going and then going to one of the what appears to be one of the body mounts but we’ll. Look at that in a bit more detail later on anyway. I’Ll start the front and work my way around, but i have to say the more i drive this car, the more i am absolutely loving it. It has got that scale. There’S a bloody look to it. We’Ve got our two little drivers in there. We’Ve actually got an led light on there, which i shall light up in just a minute now, fully adjustable suspension, both front and rear and you’ve got fully adjustable threaded shocks, both front and rear, which is a good sign from the absolute outset. The only issue i had with the car when i first got it is one of the dampers was compressing a little bit too much at the rear, so i had to empty. Some of the shocks were overfilled, which is nice to see rather than a bit under filled. Speaking of those tires, we’ve obviously got the spare tire on the back. Znaš, depending on your driving preference, you may want to remove that anyway, that impact bumper at the front a little bit of flex in there, but it’s fairly rigid.
I might put it to the ritchie wall test. It has got a superb look to the thing. Very much it’s, like a mini watching db, xla accelerates like one as well on 3s. These tires don’t seem to be too bad at all grip wise. Although the rear on this thing, if you floor it, the rear will wiggle around a little bit on there because of the power of this thing, so it’s, obviously rearward biased and you can see there. We’Ve got steel driveshafts all round steel cups all round as well, which is always a good sign. Next version of these i’m predicting they’re putting sway bars on now for the body i’ll come back to that in just a second first of all i’m, going to show you the underside of the car, Iako, and the air arms in a little more detail: arms, Lijepo, Triangulation on them key thing: being this metal chassis running the full length of the car again nicely triangulated arms of the rear. You can see that rear bumper from a bit better from being upside down. Now that body, you will know it’s attached very firmly to the car it’s, not like a lot of these desert buggies, where there’s flex in the side of the car. You can put your fingers up underneath you can’t very firmly fasten down indeed, because the body is fastened to this roll cage which takes the impact if the thing flips and i’ve flipped it a couple of times, but it seems quite hardy, um the one four four: Zero zero one it’s baby brother i’ll come out in a second um didn’t like being flipped uh.
Things tend to bend like bits of metal on the car, suspension, etc on there, which is the only downside i think to that car was. It was maybe a little bit fragile in places. It was super fast, but i wouldn’t necessarily say the one four four zero zero one is a basher. Is this going to be a little bit more? Maybe with that change in suspension, not saying that this thing will handle bumps and jumps a little bit better on there. So if you want to remove this bodywork – and i will take it off at some point – i might even do it in this video if you’ve got time, you’ve got to release these screws under here, the six of them on the underside. The body floats at the front so there’s nothing to remove there, but we shall see later on in the video suspension wise, oh let’s. Do the ritchie suspension test now. Do richie’s suspension test, lift that rear until the front just comes clear of the ground? What was about an inch not huge on there? Well it’s uh, quite road focused, so the suspension is quite rigid. The front’s got more on there. Maybe an inch and a half at the front, not badly sprung or dance. The rear is very clearly the rear. Dick dips, down a bit more on that, maybe you could do with a little bit – thicker oil or maybe or front shots, are still a little bit overfilled.
I might have to take those apart and have a look at those, but overall that can bottom out yeah. There’S part of me now on there, so maybe a little bit of work to do, but then the shocks the springs are, but virtually the maximum height both front and rear at the minute. I’Ve not done anything to tighten them up to play around with the handling. As yet, anyway, you’re wondering rich how the heck do i put the battery in well two body clips, a very neat system. I have to say two body clips on here and then this part just hinges open. Now i refer to this as the bigger brother to wltoys144001, the reason being virtually identical platforms which are identical electrics, i believe in here, but this is five centimeters longer the advantage it has given to people designing. The car is instead of the esc sitting up on the top here, they’ve been able to put it down here in between the motor and the servo. So if you want to go brushless and you can now you’ve got plenty of room to fit a brushless esc. I think a mamba x would fit in there without too much work. Richie says obviously a castle motor or any other brush or smoke. It would fit in there. So this is a 550 car motor, but just check out the size of that battery tray from the front here and the rear support is there but i’m guessing some of the speed run, guys might even think about taking that rear support out.
So you can fit an even bigger pack in there. If you do that, Iako, you lose any space for your speed. Meter i’ve been tucking. My speed meter and this little corner of the back here, where it’s wedged in doesn’t even need taping down because it’s not going anywhere once the roof is down. The only care you’ve got to have is with this wire that connects up to that led light bar speaking of which let’s turn that on and i can hear people crying out now. Richie don’t connect that avonik 2 200 milliamp pack, it’s 3s you’re gon na blow. The ac up i’ve seen a video of it popping before it even runs. Oh, is it gon na burn my house down? Is it? Is it? Is it no, Naravno, it’s not if anybody’s doubting whether you can fit 3s to this car i’m, going to give you a talk in a minute and use a few fairly strong, but child friendly words? As to my opinion of people saying this, can’t run on 3s because i’ve tested it just about to destruction today it should it shouldn’t move. Oh the wheels turn anyway enough of richie ranting. What i wanted to show you was the light bar on the car, not too bad at all. What do we think? I think you’ve nearly driven that in the dark i’ll try that later on now, i’m very sensibly going to turn the transmitter off, so the car doesn’t in comedy style.
Like one did the other day, i was picking another car up and i had a transmitter in my hand and it’s, not the edge of the car. I was picking up into the edge of the transmitter and a 6s armor through the complete length of this desk. It would have been youtube gold had i been filming it, but unfortunately i wasn’t the transmitter he’s, actually fairly robust you’ve got carry handle. You put a lanyard strap around the top of that, which is quite a nice feature on there. Three area: batteries in the bottom of seat throttle river brake reverse on air, on off switch, steering, obviously, steering trim on here supposed to syrian jewel right, but the most important one on this car if you’re buying one of these is the throttle jewel rate, if you Buy one of these or the one two four zero one: nine and it’s not going, maybe as quick as you thought, make sure you’ve turned this fully all the way as far around clockwise as it will go because to start it comes about halfway around on there. You will add so much more speed to the car, turning it onto full on 2s or 3s. It is untrue. So if anybody’s been speed testing this thinking, it doesn’t go fast check whether you’ve got that dual rate set right up or not. He’S not throttle adjustment. He’S throttle jewel right on here and, Konačno, we’ve got our instruction manual, which is fully detailed for explosive diagrams, telling you how to take everything apart, but best of all we’ve got a full list of parts in the back uh.
If you need to reorder anything. Definitely hobby grade car also comes with a handy usb charger. If you’ve not seen these before you actually plug what appears to be the balance lead of your lipo into there and that’s the only thing that then charges your battery up, but these are becoming very common. Doista, now for all sizes of rc car – and this is the lipo battery – it comes with a standard – nice slim low profile pack on there – 2s 2 200 milliamps, which is certainly good for a good 20 minutes of thrashing the life out of this car. Very impressed with it indeed, but far more so when this car is running on 3s anyway, without further ado, let’s go outside and see this thing in action just heading off outside, but check out that light bar Music, Ok, just time for a quick run on 2s Around the yard, yeah all good brakes, we’re liking this from the start. Oh man well it’s going to make for some interesting driving today, because this surface is damp anyway. Let’S have some fun full acceleration on in the dry. There Applause huge power – this is just on 2s and the back end just wanting to break loose on here, not when it been damp Music. Oh man on loose dirt, this thing’s going to be an absolute blast. I actually tested it in the drive last night off camera and then to dry.
It hooks up and goes bit of a handful bit of a handful on the wet, but in the dry. The grip is absolutely excellent and the brakes on the thing absolutely second to none, but it’s got enough power without no brushless bear in mind. Just brushed four wheel drive, not you would know it on certain bits. Danas, man, i would say it’s having a bit of a tendency to spin out now it’s wet, but if you catch it just right, you can power oversteer through the corners and have a blast. This thing down, shell stands on loose, gravel is gon na, be an absolute who, but on the drive, grip is a completely different matter, so this thing on blacktop is gon na, have a huge amount of grip, not just point and shoot. S ovom stvari, it’s ver, the steering on it and a steering is very, very quick indeed i’ll, say i’ve played around with 150 radios that aren’t a patch on this thing. Oh, this is gon na be this is gon na, be good fun on here, anyway. Let’S see how we get on some grass very smooth suspension. I was gon na, say: To je, probably gon na get kicked around on here, and then it runs as absolutely as straight as can be that’s wet grass as well, no abc on here whatsoever and that’s, taking full throttle without any problem at all changes in direction. Yeah it’s gon na flick around a bit on the full throttle on there, but that’s not doing badly at all i’m.
Very conscious i’ve got quite a small area to operate in here, but well. I have to say when i first drove this, i was quite impressed that i’ve actually converted one of these to brushless i’m very impressed with this on the wet grass today. Pa, i hope you like what you saw today of the double toys, one, two, Četiri: Nula. One eight, it is an absolutely cracking car to drive and it’s actually growing on me, the more i use it. In actual fact, i’ve got two of them at the minute. This one has been converted to brushless power and it’s 68 miles an hour on its first run, but plenty more to go once i’ve made a few tweaks took up with that power, but the stock one on 2s is an absolute blast to drive around the yard. I think i’m going to take this down to shell sands, run it on some loose gravel, because i have a feeling it will handle very, very well indeed down there and that 2 200 milliamp battery lasts 20 Minuta, which is pretty darn good. But then the thing only weighs just over a pound and if the desert buggy style, the one two four zero one, eight doesn’t quite appeal, but you like the power, then treat yourself to one of these, which is the wltoys one.
