Temp scale drift car, the dfr01 pro. It looks really good uh. I say drift car it’s, four wheel drive. I know some of you are seeing drift enthusiasts out. There are going to tell me it’s, not drifting, it’s power, sliding yeah. I know that i’m building a rear wheel, drive proper drift car as well. If you’ve not seen that video there’s a build video which i’ll leave at the end of this one anyway, let’s get this one at the box, so this is by says hsp or hgnr high speed, co. Now this is quite an old platform, i think originally it was produced by i want to say hobby king and i think it was called the blaze or there was one called the blaze i’m just guessing here now, but it’s an old platform, and i am 100 Certain that one of you in the comments is going to tell me exactly what it is, and i appreciate that because it saves me from googling all the time. So this comes in two different uh packages. You can get this one, which is the pnp plug and play, which means you get everything with it. Apart from the battery and radio gear, so transmit a receiver that’s. What this one is. This is the pnp. It comes with a surpass hobby rocket, supersonic 8.5 t censored. Brushless motor looks like a decent motor that a 9 kilogram servo it’s – probably not going to be that quick for this, but it’ll get you going and a certix stock club race, censored, brushless esc no instructions that come with this, but get yourself on google.
In fact, i will leave you a link in the description where you can find the instructions for that it looks like it’s um. It looks like you need a program card, though, to do anything crazy with it a nice body this is based on, although it’s not licensed but it’s, based on the toyota, or for some of you, it’d be the subaru depending on where in the world you are, But this is the the brz from subaru and gt. I want to say gt85 from toyota, but i may be wrong because that is gt85 i’m gon na have to google it now just to make sure okay close enough it’s gt 86 battery straps uh front bumper. So there is a little bit of work to get this together: body posts, body pins now, i’m, not 100, sure what these are they go in where your hinge pins are, i believe, they’re to do with the toe and the toe angle. I think i might be wrong, but it’s not often i’m wrong, but 24 teeth, opinions and fixings. That is about it, and now this is the chassis, and it does look very nice let’s get this out of the way. First it’s, not carbon fiber. Well, it might be a carbon fiber, um top layer and bottom layer, but i’m, quite certain that it’s just got some kind of other composite wedged in between it. Either way i mean it looks nice alloy oil shocks, they feel good.
So, like i said, it’s four wheel drive belt driven. It rolls nice and smooth loads of red alloy bits all over it hinge, pin holders you’ve got a one way diff at the front. There we’ll talk about that in a minute. You’Ve got a locked diff at the back. Hard drift tires wheels. They look quite nice and just overall it is a really nice uh chassis and these don’t cost a lot for what you’re getting they’re, not cheap, a couple hundred dollars, i think, or less than less than two hundred dollars which for some of you isn’t cheap. But you get some good components on there, so it’s got a locked, rear, diff and then the front diff is um one way so a one way diff the reason he’s got it on the front. So if i pull the belt there, you can see it will drive the front wheels when you’re driving when you go when you’re rolling those. When you come off the throttle, the front wheels are allowed to free roll. What it gives you is very little understeer. So understeer being when you’re turning, but the car is sliding forwards like that, and it helps with your oversteer. So the rear wheel is pushing the front. Wheels are free to roll. The rear, will try and overtake the front that’s how you get your oversteer i’m? Not going to go into any more detail on that, but a one way diff at the front is to help you throw the back out and control it.
When you put the power on, then you’ve got essentially a locked diff on the front when you’re driving you’ll throw the back out by coming off the throttle. And when you accelerate the locked front, diff locked, rear diff is going to pull it back around and it works very well. How do i know it works really? Well, anyone who’s familiar with blue peter here’s, one i prepared earlier. Yes, i’ve already got one and i’ve already been out and giving it a run, and it is absolutely awesome for some reason. Banggood sent me two. I don’t know if they were just in a good mood or whether i’m one of their favorites but i’ve got two, which means i was able to take one out and give it a run before i done this little unboxing to talk about it. So let’s go and see this thing running and then at the end, i’ll show you uh a little bit of damage to it. We’Ll just go over that at the end anyway enjoy right, let’s slide this thing: oh yeah, Music, that one way diff at the front, making it easy to power slide, really easy notice. I’M saying power, slider, not drift! Oh yeah! This is awesome Music. Well, this is easy to drift. Oh it’s, epic i’ve, never driven anything so easy to control like this. No wonder the real drifters don’t, like four wheel, drive doesn’t, really make it that hard Music let’s get you some better shots, so the esc has got no reverse.
It doesn’t seem an issue, though just keep going forward. Whoa yeah, that bit made me dizzy too this thing’s so cool, so that one way diff definitely makes a difference. Wow. I am impressed doesn’t take much to impress me. Does it really, but how fun is this Music? Oh, the wheels come off. Oh there we go, and that is the end of that it’s good fun though i bet it can still drift like that. Hang on, oh, maybe not so didn’t do too much damage. I did uh destroy the wheels. Obviously most people don’t take drift cars to the skatepark, but you know me and the only other thing was the hinge pin. Holder came off. I lost both the screws underneath in fact, i’ve picked one back up and they’re. Quite i can’t find it now, but they’re quite small, and it actually pulled out of the thread, so i’ve got two longer ones put them in and it’s all good again, apart from some broken wheels, i was just running a four thousand milliamp hour: 50c 2s. It will run three, so you don’t need any more wheel speeds for drifting. That motor has got plenty and i was using the dumbbell rc transmitter with the um.
