let’s go for a Music drive Music. Questa è la 2021 lexus lc 500 convertible i’ve had this luxury drop top convertible as a press vehicle from lexus for the past week during which i’ve been daily driving it and experiencing all that it has to offer first we’ll take a look at the exterior, then We’Ll hop inside take a look at some of the interior features, then we’ll go out and take it for a drive. The exterior color of this vehicle is yellow flare, a very interesting and bold color, but i think it’s fitting for the design language of this vehicle and for point of reference here is a yellow, microfiber towel and, come potete vedere qui, this is not your typical Yellow yellow this is more of like a flare yellow, so i guess fitting name for the color fitting color for the car total msrps tested, 111 920 let’s go and take a closer look at the exterior starting out in front. I really like the striking and beautiful design language of this vehicle and that can really be seen here through the front. Grille it’s got a nice texture element to it. It’S got a great 3d flow as it kind of comes down through here and expands out as it meets the lower lip. It really gives the front end of this vehicle. A very unique look: we’ve also got our arrowhead led daytime running lights, with ultra compact, triple projector, led headlamps, and i really like how these daytime running lights extend out and give you a nice break between the paint really ties in the front of this vehicle.
Davvero. Bene, let’s go ahead and take a look at the side up front. Abbiamo 21 inch forged aluminum alloy wheels 21s in the rear. Those are two tone that’s a 2650 option for those as we work our way down the side of the vehicle. We’Ve got a bit of functionality venting through here. The profile of this vehicle is very unique, it’s very front end heavy and then kind of tapers off as you get to the rear of the vehicle. So speaking of the rear, let’s go ahead and hop around. Take a look back there so back at the rear that bold design language continues. You can see here through the rear tail lamp. Inoltre,, it’s got a nice 3d element again. Everything in this vehicle really flows together. Bene, we do have the active sports exhaust, so let’s go and take a listen to that so, Applausi musicali, Music man, that v8 sounds really good and that sport exhaust really complements it and opens it up as far as cargo space goes, not a ton of cargo Space again this is a convertible, so you got ta have room for the soft top to fold back and the mechanics for that, but you can definitely use it as a daily driver store some stuff back there or go on a short weekend trip. But i wouldn’t plan to have a whole bunch of suitcases and travel heavy as far as shutting it.
No automatic soft clothes do have a handle here, anche se, and you got to kind of simultaneously get your hand out there. Let’S go and take a quick look at the door handles then we’ll hop inside. As you see here, the door handles sit. Flush you’ve got an indentation here. You push in on that that’ll pop open the door handle revealing a little lexus logo there, locking the door we’ll bring them back in and unlocking it with the key fob, we’ll pop it right out, let’s go and hop inside. Così, as part of the touring package, we get a leather, trimmed heated steering wheel, è, a small diameter steering wheel, three spoke design and i really do like the smaller diameter, especially being a taller guy. Having long legs, it’s really helpful when cornering, to give me as much room as possible, io, like the magnesium mounted rear, paddle shifters, really thin design that kind of goes in hand with the smaller diameter. So you got you know easy to work with through here. You can open up the trunk here. Heads up display gas cap over here, it’s kind of like some handlebars, but these are stationary. You can turn off traction control, get snow mode and you can change between the different modes over here. Sport, sport plus normal custom, comfort and eco and again these are stationary you’ll just turn the knob to change between those interesting feature here. The door handle it’s got a great feel to it, but it’s kind of sharp at the end of it.
This kind of extends out right here and uh, if you were to you, know, hit that it’s, a very pointy and very sharp, but the design, language and overall flow throughout this vehicle is really interesting. Everything kind of seamlessly ties in nicely we’ve got one of our 13 mark levinson speakers there as part of the audio system. I like the pedals down through here. They got a nice design to them overall let’s go and hop over here and take a look in the center console going to give you guys a quick look around of the interior, absolutely gorgeous front seats such intricacy and detail on those, and you got the climate Concierge with the upper body heating as part of the touring package, and also it’s, going to give you embossed headrests with the lexus logo. Now i prefer to have this logo on the front side personally, but nevertheless you’re still going to get that nice detail. Some more detail to the front on the inside of this analog clock. When i start the vehicle up here, you’ll see that this is kind of a continuation of the startup. A mio parere,, oh v8 fires to life and you’re going to kind of get some like galaxy dust yeah there you go so that kind of flows out, and i really do like that. Little touch through there, climate controls through here you’ve got your cd slot there. A cup holder right here, so you pop that and that’ll automatically open that flows down into some hard buttons and keys that will control this screen up here it is not touch screen.
First instinct would be to touch it it’s, pretty far away, actually so i’m. Effettivamente, driving in my driving position, i can barely reach it. I’D have to really kind of reach up, but it’s not touch screen. You’Ll use this track pad here, which is very similar to that of a laptop that’s. How you can control the different screens? Ovviamente, you’ve got your audio phone navigation, your typical things through here, another interesting feature. This is a little hidden compartment and that’s how you’re going to control the top so that pops up in there open, lower the top and then the rear windows, and that is not automatic. Sì, i have to manually pull that up and then here is going to be something interesting too. So you push in here and slide back and it reveals almost not like i wouldn’t say it’s a cup holder because it’s not necessarily round, but you could store some items in there and then you’ll pull back right there and that’ll open up the center console revealing Some usb connectivity auxiliary port and a 12 volt outlet. Another interesting thing through here is going to be the gear. Selector takes a little getting used to not going to lie, here’s the gear pattern of it and then you’ll pop it over, and this remains fully stationary kind of like a joystick. So if you want to go into neutral you’d slide over, if you want to go to drive you slide over and down, if you wanted to go over in the manual you got to kind of there, you go pop it over and then back over into drive.
So it’s not the easiest to use at first it takes a little getting used to, ma una volta che si ottiene il blocco di esso, you should have no issues, so that is the interior. Let me show you this too. Here is the glove compartment and at first glance it doesn’t seem that big, but it’s actually really deep and goes pretty far back in there. So you do get some good storage through there and it automatically opens, but it does not automatically retract. So you got ta push that back up and then lastly rear seats. This is a convertible. You do get four seats, but you know if your front seat is back pretty far on the first layer, you’re not going to get too much room in the back. The passengers so that’s the interior let’s go ahead and take it out for drive behind the wheel and on the road in the 2021 lexus lc 500 convertible. What are we working with underneath the hood that is a 5 liter v8 engine producing 471 horsepower ‘8 pound feet of torque? That is paired to a 10 Velocità. Sport direct shift automatic transmission that you can control via the power shifters on the steering wheel or by popping it over into manual mode i’m. Gon na do some accelerations with the top up, then i’ll pop the top down. Let you guys hear it that way. We are in snow mode, sport plus on the drive mode i’m gon na pop it down into d2 crispy down just now, è, not incredibly fast, but that rear wheel drive it gets yellow.
You know on the edge of your seat so i’m, going to pop it down into d2, get a good acceleration wow. So i stole that uh. I stole that little red line move from the straight pipes shout out to jacob and yuri, and they took that from savage geese, though it redlines the 7 000 and there’s a little bit of a light pink between 7 000 and like 7 300. And then it goes full redline to beyond that, but that’s the first time, i’ve, really bounced it off the revlit burner and it’s kind of cool. It doesn’t like a little like back pop back shift and uh, Naturalmente,, i’m not going to do it very often. I just did that once to kind of test it out and it was actually very exciting and exhilarating. I do some more downshifts here. D6. D5. D4. D3. D2. This transmission is quick. The shifts are smooth and uh seamless when you’re just daily driving in when you’re doing these downshifts that’s wild. Mi piace un sacco. I uh. I really do like it again, it’s not extremely fast by any means on the uh on the acceleration, but it makes up for that. You know drivability and handling. Così, Naturalmente,, this is a convertible, so i think it’s only fitting that we, Sai, put the top down it’s uh 31 degrees here in nashville, ma uh. Nevertheless, we will do that for you guys, you got to be under 31 miglia all'ora.
The total time it takes to put the top down not too long about like 17 18 seconds or so it is uh very a brisk here to say the least. So the sequence is wrapping up here: i’m gon na roll up the side windows for you, i’ll put up the back windows as well now we’re gon na do some more accelerations we’ve got the top down open air experiencing makes it that much more visceral that’s. One thing i do like about convertibles, especially convertible sports cars. You get that nice, you know performance from the engine. You get the good sounds of the exhaust. You get the open air freedom, the wind blowing in your hair. In your face again, Idealmente, you wouldn’t want to do this when it’s 30 Gradi, but i wanted to test out the convertible for you guys we’ll do some down fifths for you here, d3. What oh this has to be. This is up there. This is going to be high up on the list of my favorite downshifts in a vehicle, because it’s just it’s got that like lexus luxury, but it’s got that muscle car sound and feel to it. So we come around here out. The roundabout got a little bit of a little bit of a drift got my gopro flying off over there. It puts a smile on your face for sure oh man, Anche, fun and again it’s a 10 speed transmission there’s no way i could blast through all 10 gears i’m, never making it past.
You know d4 when i’m doing these little pulls, because by the time you get you know, 10 gears in you’re going like you know way too fast above the speed limit so i’m, going to kind of keep it in that sweet spot of. Sai. D2. D3. D4, maybe comfortability as far as that goes. Sai, Sono, a tall guy, Sono, six foot, five inches tall, and i like that you know my head’s not sticking out. I have a thunderbird that drives my daily driver when i drive with the top down my head’s, come te, know, hanging out the top, but with the way that the you know the height of this windshield and the overall feel of it. How high the windows up? I feel very encapsulated and very safe. Also keeps me nice and warm got my heated seat on heat steering wheel on got the heated portion of the back part, so i’m staying warm and kind of my own little bubble over here. I am addicted to these downshifts. I tell you what again, i think the biggest thing i like is the fact that this convertible, you feel comfortable in it. Now i am getting some wind noise, you do have a windscreen that you can put up in the back. I chose to leave that off, but you got a little bit of a back flash back there to help cut down on some of the overall wind noise, all right so different outfit different day, different weather scenario for sure it’s, a beautiful day here in brentwood cruising Around the top down, i got the windscreen up in the back now, let us substantially cut down on the wind noise.
What you hear right now is just the road noise from where all the snow is defrosting here on the road, but it means virtually no wind noise now and there wasn’t much to begin with, but this really allows me to hone in. On the you know, experience of driving and listening to that v8, roar from that sports exhaust now we’ve got a tunnel coming up here and as soon as this light turns green we’re going to go through and we should get some pretty good here. We go echoes of this beastly v8. Oh mio Dio, this sounds like an f1 race car it’s, Pazzo, i’m having a blast and it seems like everyone else, is enjoying it as well. Cioè. One thing i always like to talk about in my reviews is the attention that you get, and this is a popular car. I mean it’s a pretty day, everyone’s been kind of cooped up at home with the weather here now, è. Infine, a pretty day for everyone to get out and people are noticing it i mean people are actually giving thumbs up, complimenting it. Hey man, i like your car and looking out, i mean obviously it’s a bright colored car with this flare, Giallo, so it’s naturally going to draw your eye to it, but i really think people just like this car in general. My only point of contention with that is that i maybe i don’t give people enough credit, but i really don’t think that the average person would think this is a hundred and eleven thousand dollars.
You know they say you see it and might realize hey. You got a nice car, but you know they might not tie that high of an msrp or that high of a price tag to the vehicle. I mean i’m, a car guy myself and i didn’t even realize that it was this expensive. So i think uh that’s something just to consider when you’re thinking of a car, this price point which you can get for the money but all in all people, definitely like it and i think really appreciate it as well.
