Today we are gon na. Do something that’s gon na be the first, the first time i’ve ever done. This we’re gon na do car reviews with my new format: i’m gon na call it the potato review because i’m, basically gon na rate, different categories of rc cars or different categories of the rc car, based on a scale of one to five potatoes, c'è. Effettivamente, six different categories that we’re going to judge by first is drivability how easy it is to drive, just in general, like if you’re, a new person or you’re someone that’s more skilled, getting into the car and just driving. It second is durability and maintenance. How often you have to work on it? How often it breaks um, how much you’re gon na think how much you’re, basically gon na, have to wrench on the thing next is customizability. I personally like to hop my cars up, so i like to do all different types of stuff to them, and i like to make mine a little bit different and i think it’s fun to have a car where you can keep buying stuff for it and different Hop ups, so i want to judge on that. Also next is just general looks like is the car cool like do you like it? When you look, can you sit there and just stare at it it’s kind of like a real car where, when you’re done driving it do you look back at it and just just admire how cool it is? Another category we i obviously have to judge on is value and price.
Is it worth it? Is it cheap? Not? Is it cheap, but really is it just worth it i’ll tell you what the price is and then whether it’s worth that price or not, and the last category is probably the most important is how fun it is. Is it super fun? Is it not fun at all again from a scale of one to five potatoes spuds, quello che vuoi chiamarlo? So today we are gon na do a car. I just absolutely love. I take it with me. Almost everywhere we are gon na. Do the traxxas trx4 i have so many of them and i’ve actually never done a full review on it. So we’re gon na do an unboxing and a review of the trx, the traxxas trx4, not the sport, the actual trx4. Quindi penso, out of all the trx4s, this one for sure is my favorite. I one i’m, a ford guy. So the fact that it’s, a ford bronco helps, but this one just looks so cool. I love the little sunset paint job, Oh, and look at the detail on the wheels my dad had an old ford ranger back in the day and those wheels look almost exactly the same with what came on it. It’S freaking crazy. So this is a trx4, ma questo non è, the one we’re reviewing today, because we’re gon na have to unbox one so i’m gon na have to open one that i have upstairs here’s another one.
I like a lot. This actually isn’t a trx4 sport. It is actually a trx4, but i think the sport body looks so freaking good. It looks really scale um. I put the pro line tires on it with the bead locks on it. Oh uomo, this one’s, probably the most scale, looking one i have, because i really. I think the trx4 sport body it just works. You know it is a shorter wheelbase, but this is one of my more favorite ones. Note all this stuff for customizability, because this one has all the lights in it: rock lights, there’s little lights under there, you probably can’t, see them but there’s lights under it and there’s lights all over the front, there’s lights right there, esso, oh uomo, this thing yeah, Fondamentalmente, i did this one up and i wanted to drive it, but it was just too nice after i did it up so it’s not getting driven. I got to show you guys more detail. Look the snorkel the top light bar. Oh uomo, it’s got actual headlights and then it’s got lights on the front. I mean this thing. Look i even have the brass uh. I don’t even know what they call that, like the the diff case transfer case the pumpkin or whatever anyways yes, Questo è. Oh uomo, this one was such a rewarding build. Oh, i really like it all right. So here are my trx4s, which one do we open up today? Hmm.
So this is a kit we’re not gon, na open that one up, because i don’t want to unbox a kit um. This is the mercedes, Credo. Effettivamente, i only like the black mercedes one, i think the other one’s, like kind of like toy ish we’re, not opening that because that’s trx 4 sport and i don’t – have it with me right now – um that one was the one i showed you so i don’t Have um yeah, i don’t i don’t have that one to unbox it’s, not in the box uh that one’s in the box uh. This is one of the first trx4s that came out the defender. I think it was the first trx board to come out the defender uh, that one is the red one, but we’re not gon na unbox that one either. Sì, i have problems you’re, probably asking what we’re gon na unbox we’re gon na unbox that one a brand new one i just bought this. This is the k5 blazer. I know i’m, a ford guy, but there’s actually a story behind why i bought this one and uh. Why it’s it’s kind of unique big q tip playing video games come on evan, Va bene, so here’s, the k5 blazer there’s the box panels. It has that that red and black and then i really like the orange and white, i think the orange and white looks super cool. So the reason why this one is unique is i just found out when i bought it, that it actually costs more than the other ones yeah i don’t, i don’t get it.
Penso che sia, Come 30 40. More i mean it has probably probably has something. Effettivamente, it definitely has something to do with the licensing. I guess chevy licensing cost more than ford, but actually that mercedes back there that’s the cheapest one at all of them, so best bang for the buck. I would say the mercedes because you are getting a license licensed rc car and it’s, cheaper than the ford, the defender and, Naturalmente,, the k5 blazer, because the k5 blazer is the most expensive. Look at all that dust that’s. I took it to the track to do the unboxing there and it never happened all right, so we’re going to get right into unboxing. So if you’re totally new to the hobby, you have no idea what the traxxas trx4 is. The traxxas trx4 is a trail truck it’s. Fondamentalmente, some people call it trail truck some people call it a scale rig, but it’s traxxas is offering for a scale trail truck um. These trucks aren’t aren’t, made to go super fast they’re made to look super cool and they’re made to go rock crawling basically crawling on rocks and going down trails. Oh mio Dio! Look at this thing: oh wow, ok! So man look at oh! This thing looks so good, so these range traxxas trx4 range from 300, scusa, 400 A 489, so the four dollar one is the mercedes. You can actually get a kit where it doesn’t come with anything.
You just got to build it, but for the rtr trucks 400. Between 400 E 489 that street price, depending on what body you get because of again the whole license thing, this one is the most expensive. This is the the blazer. Oh god, look at that body looks so good, but yes, it’s a trail truck. So they’re not meant to go super fast. Sono, melted, they’re meant again just to go on trails, possibly some rock crawling. So if you’re wanting that car to just go rip and doing wheelies and things like that, this might do wheelies, but it’s not going to go. Super fast, i would say, if i had to guess i could guess maybe 10 15 miles an hour not super fast. It is not brushless, although it seems at that price you’d think it’d be brushless, ma c'è. So many other things on this car that make it freaking cool, so let’s go over what’s in the box. Really quick we’re going to go through this really quick, because i want to show you also some some, like clips of us actually driving them on the uh. And i say us because i want to go out to the creek, where there’s going to be a lot of them and catch some good footage of a whole bunch of trx force crawling um. This is the radio come with comes with, so this radio is just a little bit different because it has this little toggle switch up top and basically, what this toggle switch does.
Is it controls your discs, so the difference there’s? Effettivamente, two trx4s on the market, there’s a trx4 and a trx4 sport. Those are the two types of trx4s. The regular trx4 has basically locking front rear diffs. That means that the differentials on the front they can lock. So they all spin at the same time, Uh, locking front rear discs and a two speed transmission. So you have a low range and a high range transmission, which some people argue that it’s there’s. No reason to have that. I think that it’s kind of cool to have, especially if you’re like me, that wants to go, i like to go on long trail walks and basically switch gears depending on how fast we’re going it’s really nice. So when you’re going on long trail, walks, è, really cool so the rest of stuff that’s in the box, this one does come with extra body clips. You guys know that i’m big on extra body clips and then it comes with a couple of tools – looks like a one, five or maybe a two five and a two, oh um, e poi un 1 5 little allen, wrench and then a little wrench. To take your wheels and tires off um these wrenches, these tools will work if you don’t have any tools, but i don’t recommend you use these because they do hurt your hands and then it comes to the manual. So nothing else in the box.
Aside from those things, let me give you guys some close up shots and tell you more about it. So here is the truck up close look at the detail: Wow, it even has a little 4×4 decals. You got side view mirrors on the bronco that’s pretty much. What i broke off first decal is really cool. Another thing i noticed whenever i was putting the body on and check out the bottom of the body see how there’s these little buckets already there. That means that it’s ready for lights – i think oh yeah actually probably holds on that back panel, but the body detail the different chrome pieces. Oh uomo, it looks so good here is the car without the body um. So here are your different servos. So you won’t see this on the trx4 sport on these little servos right here. Those are your shifting. Servos one is to lock the front dip. One is to lock the rear, diff and then there’s. Another servo right there that basically toggles your transmission between high and low range um again. This is a solid, solid truck. I have had mine for a long time and i really haven’t replaced much except for the servo, but i haven’t really broken anything i’ve upgraded. Some parts just because i think the aluminum and brass pieces look cool um, Ma è. A very solid truck and i’ll go more into that whenever actually you’ll know what i think about it.
Whenever i sh, i rate it on the potato scale. So here is the remote again, you see a lot more switches on this one you’re gon na have this is your your two. This is your two speed shifting tran um switch and then this switch up here. Fondamentalmente, this is everything all the diffs are free. This is front front, diff lock, and this is front and rear. Diff lock lots of different lots of different things on the remote, but the remote solid, another cool thing that a lot of people don’t know is inside. I believe it’s in the esc, there’s a thing that can actually tell you how much like pitch and how much uh how much roll and pitch it is so, basically the different angles you’re at so, if you bluetooth, this is a bluetooth, uh possible or bluetooth, Cavo, Bluetooth enabled remote if you get the bluetooth module and hook your phone up to it, you can actually see the different angles you’re at front to back and side to side. So i’m excited about doing the actual potato review. So let’s go right into that. I’Ve got to give you a shot of the back of the car ooh. Look using one nice, the shot of the back of the car, so all the other trx4s are gon na, be basically the same thing from a chassis perspective. The bodies will be just a little bit different, ma c'è. All of them have a lot of detail like this they’re just different based on the brand.
Some of the trx4s are actually shorter and longer wheelbase, but you can actually change the length of the wheelbase by changing these little rods at the bottom. Here let me show you what it looks like on the bottom: there we go, so you can just change those rods right there and it just shortens the wheelbase. So it is easy and i have changed the wheelbase on my trx4 several times, because the bronco is actually a longer wheelbase and whenever i converted it converted that beast into the trx4 sport, it was a shorter wheelbase but i’m just going to keep this thing, how It is because it looks so good all right on to the potato review. ok, so first is drivability it’s easy to drive. Dico sul serio: doesn’t go fast, it’s a it’s, a trail truck you have to you, can give it to anybody and they can drive it. You don’t have to worry about them breaking it honestly. I actually tried to break mine at some point and it it’s it’s it’s, just a beast: easy to drive fun to drive, not a problem so for drivability i’m, going to give it a 5. durability and maintenance is next. So i didn’t, i have not maintained anything on my car. The only thing i’ve done is change stuff out that i want to change. Actually i did. I did bust the servo i didn’t break servo servo’s, not super strong. I don’t think traxxas did warranty it, which is great that’s.
The reason why you want to go with traxxas, because the support is awesome but because of the servo problem i’m gon na have to give it a 4.5 4.5 spuds potatoes. Tuttavia, you want to call it that’s what i’m have to do for durability, maintenance, customizability? This is a big one for me because again i like i like to customize my cars. So when it comes to the scale crawling world, i don’t think there is a scale crawler that is more customizable than the trx4, maybe the axial scx 10 or scx 10 line um, i would say they’re, maybe equally as customizable, but you could pretty much do anything. You want with these things you could dress it up. Tuttavia, tu, like i there’s, even a guy on youtube that made a super fast one, so for customizability, it’s gon na get a big five, because i can’t think of anything you really can’t customize on this thing looks looks. Is the next category i think that’s obvious. I i think they’re one of the best looking rc cars you can buy. They look so cool that it almost doesn’t like whenever you drive it. It doesn’t look as much like a toy as much as it looks like a hobby like sometimes whenever you’re like, if you’re driving e revo out there, it could be like a toy, but this looks like like a scale like basically a scale hobby super cool i’m Gon na give it a big five on look because i they’re probably one of the best looking cars in my collection, all right so value and price.
This one is where it’s probably not going to score as high, because they’re relatively expensive, like there are cheaper crawlers. You can get out there and because a crawler and a scale truck doesn’t have to be super durable, you can get a cheaper, basically cheaper, offering redcat seems like they have some pretty cool, cheaper crawlers now, obviously you’re gon na you’re, basically gon na give up some Of the support and customizability um, but in regards to price and value i’m gon na give it a four um, i’m gon na ding it a little bit on price but i’m gon na give it a little bit more on value because what you get um it’s A great truck again it i don’t ever maintain that it doesn’t break on me. I love the truck. I can drive it with confidence. Wherever i go and i know every time i put a battery in it. It’S gon na fire right up and i’m gon na have a lot of fun. Lastly, the very last category, which i would say is probably the most important category it’s gon na have to be – i mean it’s, not gon na have to be. I was about to tell you the score name, so the category was it’s fun, the fun factor, how fun it is. Sono. Probably gon na get crap for this, but i’m gon na give it a three on fun. So it’s not super fast uh. It looks super cool, a car.
I definitely recommend your collection. Tuttavia, if you’re driving it by yourself, it gets old, pretty quick quicker than a normal car. That’S super fast. Like a super fast car, you drive a parking lot. Rip do wheelies uh, the speed runs. Are a lot of fun just seeing how fast you go going off road taking bumps things like that? This does not do that so it’s still fun, but i will i’m not going to rank it high in the fun factor, because not because it’s, it is what it is, but because of the category and the basically the class that this rc card is in. That kind of scale crawler class trail truck class it’s. It doesn’t do it for me, Come, Credo, it’s really cool i’m. I still go crawling. It’S super fun super fun like i would bump it up. If every time you went there was a whole bunch of people, but that’s not the case every time so for a fun factor. I’M gon na give it a three. So the overall spud rating or potato ranking of this car is a 4.5 which i wish. I could lift something up. This is the first potato ranking i’ve ever done. I love this car. I definitely recommend you get it if you’re curious on why i’m ranking by spuds or potatoes, if you ever caught one of my live feeds you would know at the end, i turn into a potato when i start talking to everybody’s potato, so we thought it’d be Funny that it was a potato ranking so well guys.
Spero che ti sia piaciuto questo video. If you did smash the like button subscribe to my channel turn on notification bell, you guys will see more spud or potato ranking review videos soon.
