All wheel drive the m8 020. This is a palm sized mini rc car here’s, a computer mouse for scale and a strawberry. As you can see, it’s really small and just like with other mini z’s. The hard shell body on this car looks absolutely amazing, which is one of the reasons they’ve become so popular. So this car is designed for drifting inside the ready set box. You get the car in the transmitter, a wheel, wrench and pinion gear tool. Some spare pinion gears and spur gears spare wheel, nuts and some mini pylons to set up a track. Let’S, take a look at the chassis it’s different to a rear, wheel, drive mini z on this one. You have the electronics and motor on one side and the four aaa batteries go on the other side. It comes with a really hard compound drift tires that feel. Like plastic, and this car i have here is all stock, except for the wheel, nuts, which i’ve upgraded to some red ones to suit the body. The transmitter also takes four aaa batteries, and when you turn it on, you should get a solid, green light. If your lights flashing, you may still have training mode on which limits the amount of throttle available. So if you want to unlock the full speed, make sure you turn training mode off by following the instructions in the manual today, i’m going to use the ikea ladder. 900 mah batteries in the car they’re really good for many z’s get about 45 minutes to an hour run time, just pop the body back on turn it on and let’s go i’m an absolute beginner at drifting, so don’t expect much.
I am just learning how to do this for the first time and yeah, as you can see – i’m – not good at all, but the car itself handles pretty well it’s, really easy to get it into a drift. I just got ta figure out how to keep it going so stock out of the box. I think it’s really good. If you’re a beginner, i reckon it’s a good way to get into mini rc drifting. It handles really well, and it looks really cool too. Just like, with other mini z’s there’s, a lot of upgrade parts and aftermarket parts, you can get uh two parts that i see highly suggested for these all wheel drives to get straight away, are the front one way unit and the rigid axle for the rear and Those are supposed to make it perform even better for drifting, so i’m gon na look at getting those two parts. Next, you can get some of the rear wheel, drive bodies to fit on your all wheel, drive chassis as well. Just do some research first to check that it will fit i’m gon na try it with the nissan gt r body to see what it’s, like all you need to do, is remove the front body clip and replace it with the one that comes with the nissan Gtr and if the wheelbase is the same, it just fits right on like that. Even use the same wheels and tires and let’s see how this one runs.
Wow. I think this missing gtr body looks pretty nice for drifting. What do you think? Okay, now i want to show you how it runs on the kyosho foam track so i’m, going to put the skyline body back on and let’s go got the track all set up and let’s see how it runs on the track. So here we go slides nicely around the corners, but the tires are still getting a bit too much grip on this phone track that you can’t really maintain a drift going. The whole way around it sort of regains the traction but it’s still pretty fun, running it around the track so now i’m thinking, i want to try and see how it runs with some soft racing tires on it and see how it handles so let’s uh give That a go so i got these pn racing medium tires that i’m gon na put on the all wheel, drive mini z, uses a different wheel, design to the rear wheel drives, so just take note of that to replace tyres. All you got to do is take the wheel off and the tire can come off then just put the new tire on the stock drift tyres are really hard. Like plastic, you can’t even press it. Unlike the soft tires, so there’s one done and now all four are done so let’s go, take it to the track. Alright, here we go wow already. You can tell it.
Just has so much more grip feels like it’s on rails, like as, if it’s glued to the ground. Look at the tight lines i can take just by changing the tyres turns it into a awesome. Little race car it’d be good to try and run this in the stock racing class. If your club allows it so yeah now you know that this car is really good for drifting or for racing, so that’s awesome. Okay, guys. I just realized that my steering jewel rate wasn’t even set to the maximum, so i wasn’t getting the maximum steering angle or steering travel, which you probably want if you’re doing drifting. So let me just adjust that now: okay, there you go now i’m getting now set to max i’m. Getting the maximum steering travel there, so let’s see if the drifting is any better, not still bad. I mean the car’s better, but i’m still bad anyway, guys. This m8 020 is a pretty awesome car to get started in mini rc drifting. If you want to go a step further, you can try the m8 030 evo chassis kit that kyosho make, which includes upgraded electronics in an 8500 kv, brushless motor, but that’s a chassis. Only so you need to add your own transmitter receiver body wheels and tires. If you want to do that or if you want to get into rear wheel, drive drifting, there are chassis kits by other brands. You may want to try such as the gl racing gld, the atomic drz 2 or the drift art 2, just to name a few i’m pretty happy with this one so i’m going to stick with this.
Do a few upgrades and see if i really want to get into drifting or not anyway, if you enjoyed this video, please hit the like button subscribe.
