MN Model MN86KS RC Crawler Unboxing and Review
Now, if you’re into your crawlers like i am, you would have heard of mm models in particular their d90 model. One of the other variations of it now the ready to run model of that wasn’t very good, but the kit was pretty good, especially it was good value for money, but it had a few foibles in general had to spend out quite a bit to get any Decent performance out of it, amendment models have really been pushing that model for years and years and years with no real change to it. Um but i’m pleased to say that mn have pulled their finger out and i think they’ve come up with a real cracker, a real grain game changer and that model they brought out. Is this the mn86k or in this case the ks, the s standing for sport? Now i’ve looked on their website and this model is not on their website at all and in fact the box doesn’t give you any specifications at all. So what i’m going to do is a series of videos on this new model. The first one is going to be an unboxing and a run through the specifications. The second one is going to be a full build video and the third one is going to be a running video with a reveal of a special theme i have for the body. So, if you’re interested in that please stay tuned, but also subscribe to the channel and hit the bell button to be notified of those future videos anyway, let’s get cracking with this unboxing.
Now you can see this is going to be bigger from this straight off compared to the the d9c and the other models. So, as you can see from the uh, the outside. This is based on mercedes g class. Screw here looks like it’s come loose from the packaging. Don’T lose that so here we go now something we all liked from the um. The mn model d90 was the um, the body really good quality, molding and various colors, and this looks even better quality. Let’S get that out of the way, really lovely details on this. As i said, a real game changer for mn models, the level of detail that’s fantastic, so these are painted uh, wheel, arches and the body is actually painted. Externally, you can see the plastic is a gray color. This one’s painted silver on the outside you’ve got your windows inside a bit disappointed that the interior is red. All the um pictures i’d seen showing it with a black interior or a dark at least a you know: dark gray, interior a little bit disappointed, it’s, red um, so that’ll be something i’ll change straight off, but yeah so uh, nice molding. That you’ve got your um. All your windows there again that’s another bonus on the previous model that only, i think the side windows, the driving passenger windows. Weren’T present, you did get the windscreen, so yeah it’s a really nice body on that. As i said, i’ve got an idea for how i’m gon na um for olivia i’m gon na do on this, but i’ll save that as a surprise, to look out for my future video for that really nice soft off road tyre it’s got some nice lettering on The uh, the tire wall it’s a 12 mil hex fitment i’m, pretty sure that’s going to be a 1.
9 inch rim on that yeah. In fact, i’m certain it’s going to be 1.9 inch rim, so that’s the tyres. This is a from what i’ve seen so far. It is a it’s, a proper 112 scale, so it’s 42 centimeters long. The wheel base is 23 centimeters. The um, as we all knew um as much as men said. It was a 112 squirrel. The d90 was really sort of 1 14th or 1 15.. This looks like it’s a proper 112 scale, which is which is great um it’s four wheel drive it’s, got locked metal, diffs, full ball; bearings Applause, that’s, a plastic gear box, so we’ve got this um metal plate here, but look at the quality of that molding it’s Got plastic gears i think, throughout from what i can see, but again that’s bound to be something that they’ll release updates for so yeah, so it’s a front mounted gearbox and then you’ve got a central transfer case. Again you can see all the ball bearings in there. So it looks like it’s ball, bearing throughout really nice and smooth there’s. Your 25 turn ‘0 motor and then the various parts get some lube with it. You’Ve got your pinion in there and what you also get with this is you’ve got your bullet connectors for the motor you’ve got some leds in here and you’ve got. Your here include a heatsink for the motor, which is good it’s. Friction shocks by the look of it.
We’Ll confirm that when we put them together, though so, friction shocks, some more chassis parts here that’s the battery tray. So the battery tray is at the rear of this. The rear of the chassis give you an idea of how big a battery you can fit in that it’s about about 210 centimeters long, obviously, it’s a bit difficult without having it all together to see how deep it is, but it’s um, two and a half centimeters D or just over two centimeters deep but we’ll, find out the proper specs when we put it together, we’ve got a metal c frame chassis, which is always good to see and again it’s. Another development on the previous mm models, which just had flat stamped metal chassis frames. These are proper c channel frames. You can see the instructions here again. This is a real step up for mm models. Look at the quality of these instructions. It really does show you very clearly where bits go, it’s all color. It shows you the exact screw type. So i expect these a one to one scale rather than trying to guess what screws you were using. This is often the case with some of these um uh, smaller scale models, previously they’re, really good, and then you’ve got your parts listed out as well, which is good, so the instructions looking really clear and nice. You get a 25 gram, servo and what’s great about this. Servo is it’s actually mounted on the front axle rather than being on the chassis it’s mounted to the axle.
So you won’t get that bump steer effect. You’Ve got metal dog bones, metal cups, metal, axles, there’s. Your um diffs, which are metal diffs, which are which are locked front and back you’ve, got more ball bearings in there and then there’s that that servo, that comes with the kit you don’t get any of the other electronics, which i think is a good thing, because Everybody likes to put their own uh preferred electronics into the car, but it’s always helpful to have a server come with it. Obviously, you can upgrade that to uh a stronger servo these, like all your universal joints, your drive shafts and your um steering hubs there. I don’t know if you can see these, but you’ve got your links here and all of them have got pre fixed, um ball fittings in there in each of them. So you don’t have the the effect of even having to push these in force them entirely. They’Re. All already um put in for you, which is great, i will um, try and remember to tell you what um diameter these are. So you’ve got more body parts. So you’ve got all the glass for your lights, which is fantastic again. All your indicators – and things like that now you may be wondering earlier i mentioned you had the 86k in a k and then you got the 86k s well, um. The real difference between the k and the ks is the body the chassis.
As far as i can see is all the same motors, the same it’s really is it’s, just the um, some extra um bits that you get to fit to that fantastic body and they are um spare tire without. I think this is one here, so you get a spare tire with a mount for the back of the body. You get a roof rack for the top of it. You get side steps but also twin side exit exhaust. You get two snorkels an extra front, bumper or bull bar whatever, whatever you want to call it, and also, i think it showed on the picture – is a molded, winch and also extra rear light buckets that go on top of the uh, the roof rack. So you can fit. Hopefully you can fit leds into those as well, so um, so that’s that there and there’s the rest of body parts you’ve got really nice door handles wing mirrors. You’Ve got some vents, um and other sections to put in the door. I think these are like rubbing strips on the doors and then in this bag. Here we’ve got the bonnet. Now this the the ks comes in silver, but also a yellow. It looks, i think, it’s a fluorescent, yellow, almost um pre painted, which is good. The silver one comes with a black section on the bonnet, which you can see there, the bonnet the doors and, i think, also the rear door. They all open.
So again, with the previous models, the doors are all closed. You couldn’t open with this they’re all um they’ve all got hinge hinges. You can open them up. So even more detail. There’S the uh headlight buckets again. They’Ve got fitments for the leds. You i have seen some leds there’s, your bonnet. All these are wrapped individually, so really well protected, which is fantastic to see rather than having to bump around in the box. Let’S get the dashboard out so yeah. All your vents looks fantastic. It really does all looks like i’ve um that’s been broken off in transit, but i can just glue that bit on plus have you got all right, some front grilles door cards steering wheel all the other bits you’d expect. Well. I hope you enjoyed that unboxing and quick review of this fantastic new kit that um i can’t wait to build if you did enjoy it. Please hit the like button.
