Now this is a two wheel: drive brushless off road stadium, truck and it’s ready to run, and i think it’s gon na be great for backyard. Bashers now we’ve already tested the jumpshot mt, which was a lot of fun, but this one has a longer wheelbase, so i’m really interested to see how it handles, but first let’s head over to the workbench and talk about some of its features there. It is the st flux: how cool does this truck look but first there’s the box that it comes in for those of you that, like to check out the hbi box? Are they always have some awesome box art? And this is what comes in the box right here, so you get the assembled truck. You get the tf41 2.4 gigahertz radio system. It’S got your basic trim functions, pretty comfortable radio. Dan, Natuurlijk, your instruction manuals decal sheets, some tools. You know your basic tools. Some extra body clips, which always comes in handy but check out this truck. I love the look of it. Maybe it’s, because it’s got the rc driver blue on there, but the body styling itself is really awesome. Love the bright graphics on here just has a cool custom, look right out of the box. Now this is a version, two truck the version, een uh. It had a couple of little issues to it and hp. I addressed those so that’s really cool, but this the big thing here it’s got the flux brushless system in there, so it’s going to be fast, it’s going to be fun and i think it’s going to handle great on all different types of terrain.
Now we’ve already reviewed the mt, the jump shot mt so i’m going to put a link up above. So you can check out that review, because it’s got to have a lot of detail to it. What i’m going to do in this review i’m just going to go through the changes between the st and the mt and obviously, first up is the styling of the stadium truck body. I didn’t mention before this cool spoiler outback will allow some air to flow through the bottom of it, but really nice by pre, cut pre decal uh backed with white, dus het is, nice and vibrant definitely love the style of that now. The other change, obviously is the tires on this. So we’ve got a stadium truck style tire. I guess it kind of looks like an all terrain tire, so it looks like it’d actually be good for driving on on road dirt sand and, Natuurlijk, grass in your backyard. You know short grass, Natuurlijk, but it’s mounted to this really cool looking wheel. Now this is a painted wheel, silver on the outside, Natuurlijk, and you can tell it’s painted because it’s black on the inside, you can see it over there, but i really like the tread of this it’s, a kind of a firm tire. So i think it’s going to be a long, lasting tire kind of squared up, so we’ll see how that handles. Maybe you know it might be a little edgy because of this right angle of the tire but i’m interested to try.
It out looks really cool. Now the big star here is the aluminum twin vertical plate chassis that we’ve seen on the other jump shot vehicles. I think this really sets hpi two wheel drive trucks apart from everything else out there you know, hp is really known for their twin vertical plate. Chassis we’ve seen them on the savage but uh here it’s got the jump, shot st logo etched in there and this check this out. It’S got extra holes here. So you can move this entire radio tray forward. Als u wilt, you can actually adjust the weight bias of this, and i really like this chassis. I think this truck is going to handle. Goed, zoals ik al zei, we drove the mt and that was kind of front end light. Dus ik denk., with this longer wheelbase and the ability to adjust it, if you need to this truck, is going to be a bit more planted than the mt i’m. Echt, Weet je, excited to go and drive it, but first let’s talk about a few more details. Dus, Natuurlijk, we got oil filled shocks on here. They are threaded bodies, they look really good. They feel really good for a plastic shock. We’Ve got this really thick composite shock tower up front here that also houses. The servo down here we’ve got some flexible suspension arm so that’s good for a basher. Then the links have been revised. The upper links here have some extra material on them, so they won’t bend when you’re crashing this thing and then a little aluminum tie bar in the front and you kind of your standard caster block, set up steering knuckles with the bearings inside really good.
Look overall and seems to feel really good right out of the box in the back pretty much similar stuff. You know oil filled shocks, thick composite shock, tower sturdy, lower arms bulky, uh hubs on the outside, supporting the axles and the dog bones. It’S kind of your typical wheel drive truck setup, so it should work pretty well now. Let’S talk about the transmission since we’re. Looking at the back of the truck. This is an all metal gear transmission, except for the spur gear which has a slipper clutch on there. But inside the transmission you know, we’ve got all metal gears inside the differential, the idler gear and the top here are all metal uh. So that’s got to hold up to the brushless power in here and then we’ve got metal dog bones metal, outdrives metal axles. So you know this is a pretty stout setup now in the center here. As i mentioned, we’ve got this movable battery tray, which is really cool, het is, a bottom loading battery tray uh. Your receiver is mounted here in this box. It is a rubber seal on the box, but it doesn’t seal all the way, there’s a little opening right there, but the receiver inside is waterproof. So no big deal now. The big star here is the hpi racing flux system. This is a two to three sp controller uh. There is some basic programmability to it, which is really cool, het is, waterproof and then out back we’ve got the 4000 kv motor.
So this thing is going to rip. It’S got your standard high torque steering servo up front plastic gears in there does have a servo saver on there i’m, not too worried about the position of this one. You know we’ve got the wheels pretty far out forward. So unless you drill something pretty hard into the front of this uh yeah, i don’t think you’re really gon na do any damage to the steering servo, no big deal there adjustable body mounts in case you ever want to go and swap out the bodies on this Thing and that’s really about it. This truck looks like it’s, going to be a blast, so let’s head outside, hit the dirt and see what the st flux could do: Muziek, Muziek, dus Muziek, Muziek, dus Muziek Applaus, Muziek, all right i’m at the bmx shack for some additional testing and uh. This thing has been fun: i’ve been ripping around for a little bit getting used to the jumps, and these tires like this surface, a lot better. The trunk likes the surface. A lot better still flies a little nose up still getting used to it, but it handles a lot better. Over here there we go trying to get my throttle right, for this jump could break into speed controller. Daar gaan we dan.. That was a cool jump, OK. Let’S find another spot. This should be a fun jump here, we’ll step up with a double just pop up over this, let off the throttle, land, nice and smooth there.
We go a little glide on that. One double hit break nice there. We go pretty good handling on this right out of the box. Daar gaan we dan.. I just kind of skipped that settled in nice. Applause all right. We got a double double here. Some speed, let off the throttles, drops the nose. Awesome Applause, Ja, just glides doesn’t need a ton of power cool. I skipped over the top of that one. I jumped the mt off of this jump. It was a lot of fun let’s see if the st does well too yeah awesome love it all right. Laten we! Do this again it’s, like the suspension, didn’t, even move, it just landed, so plush all right! Last one awesome all right now: let’s head back to the workshop, so we can wrap up the review it’s time to talk about the performance of the st and to start i took this thing over to the bmx track. Put it down on the ground ripped a few passes back and forth over a couple jumps and it stopped the motor moved and stripped the spur gear in the process. So i had to run back home and fix it. Uh. When i went back, there was riders on the bmx track, so i went over to my dirt lot to go and bash this thing, and this thing isn’t really situated for really rough loamy, dirt and that’s. What that was, but i made the best of it – got you guys some cool action footage.
It was pretty awesome ripping this thing through the berm uh. There was a couple straights where i was able to get some air and really get some speed out of the truck, and it was. Heb ik gedaan, get some fun out of it there. But this thing is really at home on a hard pack dirt surface, so i went back to the bmx track uh the following day and was able to get some more runtime in on it there, and i really had a blast. This truck handles really well and it’s really fun to drive. It really reminded me of those great days of driving or racing stadium, Vrachtwagens, uh and what’s cool about stadium trucks is, is the finesse you need to pull the throttle on this to get over jumps properly. To go through corners properly and i think a stadium truck actually makes you a better driver. So if you’re looking for a unique experience, something to better your skills, you might want to check out a stadium truck. But let me talk about the performance. The steering on here works pretty well for a standard steering servo basic. You know linkage setup. It was able to turn within the lane there at the bmx track, uh even out in the parking lot on the asphalt it steered pretty. Well so for your basher type environment, it is fine. Maybe it is a little on the soft side. I think the servo saver could be a little bit tighter on here, maar nogmaals, als je, just going out for having fun it’ll, be just fine, maybe later on down you, the road you’ll want a higher torque servo and you should probably research a better servo saver.
Then now the handling on this with the longer wheelbase was so much better. This was so much easier to drive than the mt. The mt just wanted to wheelie all the time where this thing was much more planted. When i was going over jumps, it was much more level. Didn’T want to pull the nose up in the air uh. It landed nice and plush and again it’s all about that throttle finesse. So as soon as you launch off a jump, you kind of got ta. Let off the throttle, let the truck glide, let the nose let the nose drop down on the lander and the truck will handle really well. It gets some really good air time. I had a lot of fun driving it over some of the double jumps and just you know catching some major air off of those, but even through the light rough stuff, the suspension does handle well through that power. This thing has plenty of power. On top that flux, power system is a beast uh, you could really, Weet je, get some high speeds on the streets and stuff, and if you get up enough throttle, you could really clear some big jumps with it. But again, remember your throttle and even some braking get that nose down on the lander of the jumps. Now that we talked about all the good things it’s time to talk about some of the issues and the first one was obviously the motor wasn’t tight from the factory.
So if you do go and pick one of these things up, i would really suggest tightening your motor uh screws, your two motor screws and even your pinion screw. I did drive the sc truck that we’re gon na have here on the channel pretty soon and the pinion gear fell off of that one. The set screw wasn’t tight, so my my tip to you guys is definitely check the motor and pinion screws on this truck. Next up is the spoiler it’s, a lexan spoiler. It does look super cool, but after a number of tumbles it’s going to start to crack and it’s, eventually going to fall off mine’s already starting to crack, so be nice. If hpi came out with a nylon, a molded nylon spoiler for it, so that doesn’t happen uh. The other thing i noticed on this is the shocks are starting to show signs of leaking oil out of them they’re really damp at the bottom, so you might have to find a replacement o ring for that, but my suggestion would be to find a better shock. Such as an aftermarket aluminum shock uh, but definitely just wanted to make you guys aware of what’s going on with this truck here and finally, i did notice that it looks like the rear, rims bent just a little bit. I was really beating on this truck at the dirt lot and i think it did bend the rims a little bit. You can see them wobbling.
You know that’s something that you’re probably going to have to find again an aftermarket replacement for it. I already have. I got a set of ropex tires that i reviewed here on the channel i’m going to put on this truck. These are some good tires, so that’s my replacement option for it. Other than that this truck is a blast. Drive again, Weet je, a stadium truck is a unique driving experience. I think it makes people a better driver and, if you’re looking for that type of challenge, this is definitely a truck to consider all right if you haven’t done so yet.
