This is what i’ve been running in the car it’s an 81.2 spur with a 20 tooth pinion gear i’m gon na make a couple of passes just like this, just to get a baseline and show you what it’s at right now and then i have a few More opinions with me, i’m going to leave that 81 tooth spur in there and just play around with pinion gears today. I think i got an 18 all the way up to a 27 tooth, so we’re gon na try a bunch of different opinions. I’M gon na go over the gnss performance data, see where the car is running with each one and maybe we’ll even go into the tkin app on my computer and look at the graphs and see what each one is doing and, like i said hopefully, this will Help out anyone trying to figure out what to do with gearing in their car and show you what happens as you go up and gearing or down in gearing. So we got a bright sunny day. Let’S make some passes Music, Music, so i’ll be honest and i know it’s not that hard to tell, but i am being a little more careful with this new body it’s pretty. I don’t want to scratch it up yet so i am lifting quicker than i would have normally with the other bodies. I run the car gets out of shape and i quickly lift i don’t want to crash today.
If i don’t have to but got the car going down the track with the normal gearing my stock gearing, i guess you could call it 81 tooth spur with the 20 tooth pinion. That last pass was a 271 at 51 miles an hour around about what i normally run. Think that et is a little slow compared to what i’m normally running but i’m gon na go ahead and swap out the pinion gears now not sure what i’m gon na go to just yet i’ll come back before i make passes and let you know definitely going Up on the pinion gear just to see if we can get some more top speed out of the car, so real quick, i went to the 22 tooth pinion gon na make a couple quick hits on that. We’Ll see how it accelerates see what the top speed is and see what that difference is Music in just three quick passes, we’re already seeing some improvement there. You should have saw that 265 at 53 miles an hour so that quickly we picked up on et and picked up two mile, an hour i’m gon na keep going up we’re gon na try the 25 tooth pinion. Next. I do want to point out a couple of things. First, for one, i think the car could have taken a little more power on the launch there but i’m, not changing anything. I want everything to stay constant, except for the gearing.
The other thing is. I made three passes and i’m letting the car cool off. Now i realize that, as i go up on the pinion gear, the motor will get hotter. The car will get hotter, so i definitely don’t want to burn anything up Music. So, as you saw, we picked up on et a little bit ran a 261 instead of the 265 on that 23 tooth pinion. The speed didn’t pick up at all. It kind of surprised me a little bit. I thought the speed would pick up and the et would drop honestly i’m sure you also saw i wrecked the car for the first time with this new body on it. Nothing bad, though, just one little scratch on the front. The motor and esc is getting pretty warm, though the higher i go up. I only made two passes there. It is pretty hot out here today, but it was getting really warm. So i quit i’m gon na go up one more tooth on the pinion to 26.2. Try that out for one or two passes and then we’ll talk about what we have here. So i only made that one pass with the 26 tooth pinion i’d like to make a couple of more but i’m, not sure. If you could hear the fan. I have blowing on the esc, isn’t running anymore i’m, not sure if i burn it out or if the wires came off or what exactly happened, but the esc was extremely hot.
After that, one pass – and i didn’t like that without no fan on it, i didn’t even screenshot the gns performance analyzer data, because the car didn’t run that great i’m sure you saw me pedal it as well. That was a 275 at 51 miles an hour. I believe i’m pretty sure that 26 tooth pinion would probably give me some more top speed but i’m, not sure if it’s worth burning things up so without looking at the actual rpm data in the tkin software i’m, actually kind of shocked at how the et picked Up as well as the speed going all the way to that 25 tooth pinion seem to really help, and i might live around there – maybe drop down to 24 just to play around with that temperature make sure to keep that temperature down a little. But that seemed to really kind of help the car get me up in speed a little bit like i said i didn’t change any of the boost settings today. Didn’T change any settings at all in the esc or my remote. That was all just gearing changes today. So hopefully, maybe that helps some of you out definitely like i said, watch those temps if you’re playing around with gearing the higher you go in the pinion like i did today, the hotter the motor is going to get the hotter. The esc is going to get just like mine did today, but that gives me a little idea of what gearing does on my car.
