Redcat RC MT10E First Run Thoughts!
Where should we start so um? Overall, you saw my like initial impressions of me. Uh doing my first drive of it and i actually really enjoyed driving this thing. Um surprisingly, i enjoyed this right. I enjoyed driving this thing more than my landslide and i was really impressed with my last slide and really enjoy driving that truck but um. The landslide, É claro, is more powerful more exciting. I guess, but this thing i think, had just enough excitement for its size. Um for it to be more a little bit more enjoyable. Para mim, Também, this truck is a lot more controllable in the air compared to my landslide, the landslide overall just it’s it’s um it’s, not a very uh. How should i put it? It’S not a very um, it drives very well, but the controls i don’t know what about the electronics or whatever on the landslide. Um is causing the issue, but the controls are very sensitive and also sometimes it’s a slight delay to some of the controls. So that makes it a little bit a little bit more difficult to control, whereas this one um was a lot more responsive uh and it was a lot more, a lot easier, a lot less sensitive in the air. So it was a lot easier to jump and um just overall just bash around, and also because it doesn’t weigh as much and doesn’t go as fast as the landslide. It um also has a lot less likely a lot less of a chance for it to have a lot of breakages, at least on 2s, especially with the body.
Now i haven’t really crashed it on the body. Yet you can see that my body is still pretty pretty clean um, but that’s that’s, my uh that’s, what i suspect at the moment um. Otherwise, some i’ll start with some of the issues i had. So this truck still has that um throttle delay that the landslide did where, if you go from full reverse straight into forward, most rc cars will just go straight into forward and just like wheel, spin slip, the slipper clutch destroy the transmission whatever, but it’ll do it. Do backflips or whatever like it, will do it, Embora, whereas this one kind of like my last slide when you go from full reverse to forward um, it will actually have a delay. It will actually stop for a second and then go, and i suspect that might be a tuning thing that they’ve done out of the box to protect the transmission of this truck, because this truck does not have a slipper clutch um and it does not have a Center diff, so you really want to be careful with the drivetrain, so i guess that’s why they tuned it that way. I would have preferred it not to do that and just leave it up to me um to decide. If i want to destroy my truck or not because um having that kind of control also adds a bit of more excitement and punchiness to the truck, i i feel so that’s something that i would have liked to see changed.
Another thing was, i got some tears on the sidewall of the tire um so, and it was just after my first first run. I ran about four packs through the truck um, the first pack. You saw me driving at that parking lot and the skate park and then my second pack, i drove in that same parking lot again, but in a slightly different area and then my last two packs i basically drove just in my backyard and after all, my running When i was drying and drying the truck out and cleaning it and stuff, i noticed that some of the tires um, eu acredito, one tire fully cut open. A sidewall tore open the sidewall. Another one was cracked, so it was on on its way to being torn open. The other two were fine, but two out of the four tires were either torn open or about to be torn open. So that was something i noticed um and that i don’t think is because these tires are crappy tires or they’re bad tires or oh it’s. Red cat redcap makes bad cars. I don’t think it speaks to that um. It just happens like especially when monster trucks and stuff like that um have really soft tires. Eu acho, and you land a lot on your sidewall. It just has a chance for like the asphalt or the terrain, to like kind of punch in here, and especially with the brushless power of this thing i think that’s when it starts like tearing at the sidewall um, because traxxas a lot of there’s a lot of Traxxas people that that um swear by traxxas i i’ve had multiple traxxas vehicles, also tear the tires on the track on on those and it’s, not because they’re bad bad quality tires or bad badly constructed tires.
Um it’s, just it just happens, sometimes just accident. My summit actually has really nice tires. I really like those tires, but that one also has a couple tires that has the sidewall torn open, so i had to have to super glue that shut and then my stampede also tore a couple tires so it’s just something that ends up happening, sometimes so um. I don’t think it’s a major issue, um it’s, just something i wanted to note just wanted you guys to know everything that i experienced with the truck um. Another thing is the the body clips in my unboxing and first impressions video. I had a bit of issue getting the rear body pins out and for the easiest way to um put these in. You want to put them in like sideways, Assim, with the rounded part going to the middle of the truck and to get these out. I was kind of struggling because they were collide, sometimes with the other clip if you kind of um overlap them. So when you take it out, if you also kind of at the same time, lift up the body clip a little bit. So it goes over. The other pin you have a lot easier time taking it out and then, after that i really didn’t have an issue, and i really like these clips and they’re nice and big and beefy and they’re also black, so they hide uh. They blend into the body pretty well, so i do like the look of that again.
Didn’T really have any issues with the body, yet i really haven’t beat it up um about the chassis. One thing i did notice is the velcro battery strap system on this truck is a lot easier than on the landslide um, because the landslide, even without the center center brace on it um. Sometimes this little plastic loop here would get stuck down down by the chassis and you couldn’t re loop. It or anything. This one is nice because you can actually there’s a slight gap between the battery tray and the actual chassis, so you can still at least like adjust this like that without having to take off the entire battery trace. I really like that um. I also like the fact that it has these two little, like indent, like indents on the chassis here, for your battery strap to sit so it’s, not just sitting on the outside of your chassis or just flopping around looking all crappy um. So i i did like that um and also on the body post. I put these foam spacers on here. I just got these off of amazon. These are good for protecting your body, so your body posts, don’t punch through your body and also it keeps them from rattling around so that’s, something i recommend for all of your rc cars, de modo que é, just something i did uh what else? What else was there? Oh sim, the the 25 kg servo it’s a pretty decent servo, Mas, and it has decent torque but um it’s a little slow it’s about this.
The specs of it are about the same as a traxxas 2075 servo um and those are also known to be pretty slow, especially for brushless vehicles. They’Re fine for brushed cars um same thing with these 25kg servos it’s fine for brushed cars, but at the brushless speeds that this thing goes. You really want a faster servo for that, so that’s something i may i may change in the future, but the good thing about it is they’re they’re, pretty the waterproofing on this servo is pretty good um. The the quality the build quality of these servos are also pretty good, so for just general bashing, you can just leave this stock servo in there, but one other note i had about the steering was the the servo saver is a bit soft, so you can see. I tightened it a little bit, but even so i’m moving the wheels significantly uh significantly before the servo arm actually moves um and that kind of made the steering a little bit floppier than i would like. So i might tighten that up. Felizmente, you can adjust it a bit also when, like snow got, packed up on one wheel or like packed up in here, it tended to sometimes lose steering like it would get jammed and it wouldn’t really steer so that’s something i would keep in mind if you Plan on running this thing through mud or snow, or anything like that, any sort of terrain that will like pack into your chassis and your uh mechanical mechanisms, but other than that i haven’t had any other issues.
My shocks, haven’t leaked or anything um. I haven’t broken any parts in my first run. I did run it in in snow as you saw, but i did clean it and dry it properly and everything. So nothing really rusted not having any other issues with it. So so far having a pretty good time. Um testing this truck, i just haven’t, been i haven’t, been able to drive it a lot just because of the weather and um, because the holiday is over and the work week is has started. Oh, eu não tenho, i just noticed the red cat sticker on the wheel that it looks very nice. It has started peeling, so that’s something um that’s a little bit unfortunate. I wish it was like kind of like screen printed or like etched into the wheel, but it is just a sticker and that’s the thing about putting um stickers on spokes and stuff is they tend to get peeled up so um i’ll have to cut off some Of those the lifted part of that sticker, so i can save that decal. Mas de qualquer maneira, oh and then one one other note, uh the how those chassis skids did chassis skids, even with the light driving. I did. I drove it mostly on road and then on grass, and you can see there’s significant they’re significantly beat up, especially the edges here, hum. For some reason, the front skid is more beat up than the rear, that’s a little bit surprising, but yeah these these are going to drag a lot, and these are going to get caught a lot on stuff.
So skids are something i would definitely keep on. Keep an eye on, but that is officially it for this video um. I will continue driving this and testing this um and then until my full review – and some people have asked me to do more videos on this like go over um maintenance and like working on it, maybe like taking it apart and see how how it comes apart And stuff, i will do the i will do those videos um, but they will be probably at least at least a week or so because um i’m really busy with like real life stuff at the moment, so that those that stuff may have to wait um. But those videos are coming as well as the full review video and more like of these update and um other sorts of videos about the rcm t10e um.
