SCX24 Jeep Rubicon gets a new set of Rock Creepers and Beadlock wheels!
We don’t need these anymore Laughter wait. Now i have to pick those up dang it Music what’s, going on guys and welcome back to upper left rc today, uh short video i’m going to show you how to mount tires on these bead lock wheels in case you don’t know how i got a set Of rc four wheel, drive steel, stamped bead, Bloqueio, wheels in black there’s the part, and then i got rock creepers rock crawler tires anyways. I thought they looked pretty cool. They got a good aggressive, look on them, so we’re gon na get these mounted up. The first time i did this, it was really difficult, and so i figured i’d make a short little how to or tutorial i guess on the way i did it it’s, probably not the best way to do it, but it’s a way to do it so i’m, Going to go through that and then we’re going to pop them on one of my trucks, Eu sou, not sure which one yet but we’ll put them on something and take it for a spin all right. So let’s pop into these things and take a look at what we got so most of my uh wheels that i use these are super like sticky, eles são, really nice soft compound, but they they feel really grippy. I like those most actually all of the wheels. I run i run without the stuffing in them, but these are so soft, like i’m, barely squeezing them and they’re warping.
I think these ones i’m gon na, have to keep it in there, which is new for me, but yeah let’s do that i’m gon na bust. These open real, quick see what else parts are in it and then we’ll get to the install part. So we got the stuff out of the package here and move it out of the way. So the inside of these bead lock wheels these uh. These are little hex screws. These are actually 1.5 hex screws, so i have to use the 1.5 millimeter meter, whatever it is 1.5. Este é um 0.5. This is what most like on the scx 24s. Almost all the screws have a 0.5 hex on them. So you will need a separate hex that doesn’t come with these at 1.5 to be able to take these off i’m just going to disassemble these and i’ll do one i’m not going to do all four on camera. That would be just silly. No one wants to watch that. I really like the look of these black wheels but i’m also nervous that working on them i’m going to scratch the black paint so i’m going to be a little gentle as i stab the hex screw right into them. Eu sou.. Not sure what i want to put these on yet, but definitely want to put them on something i’m torn about adding any sort of aftermarket wheels to the uh betty the scx 24 b17 betty, because i really like the stock wheels that come on it.
It’S got that green, like a faux bead lock, but it’s green that matches the body really well, so these will probably go on the Music. Maybe the chevy c10 will look good with these not sure get them apart, muito rápido, so i’m not going to take that screw out completely this one, and i should have thought about it beforehand. So these little triangles here only two of them line up perfectly with the hole this happens to be one of them, so the screws still slightly in there and the ones on the opposite side. All these other triangles don’t line up exactly with the holes that’s. How you’re going to know you’re going to get it back on this piece correctly? You want to find the triangle where the tip of the triangle points right at that hole when you line it up, it still looks good if you lined it up with a different one incorrectly, the wheel gets all jacked and odd. OKEY, so take the little insert here, you kind of mush it in to the inside of the wheel. Sim. These things are so soft and pliable. I really don’t think i would have been able to mount them without the the foam still inside this. These are crazy. Crazy soft wheels so here’s the part that gets difficult. So when you’re, when you’re, trying to slide this middle section in it’ll, sit right here, nice and easy on this bead of the wheel, you can see how the bead of the wheel sits right, underneath that you want to make sure it’s lined up to where you Have an even amount of bead everywhere! You don’t want one sticking out like this because then, when you bolt it down it’s going to look all goofy and weird, so you kind of want to be gentle with it at first until you get it put together.
Realmente! Well and then you want to hammer down on it once you got it in place, get these things nice and tight, so we’re going to line this face plate up with that little triangle across from it and then we’ll just screw it in until we can feel It grab the other side of this rim, piece we’re not going to go super tight on it or anything. Oh god have this backing, so the threads are actually on this piece. So i need to have this in there as well. I could feel it coming through, but i was like wait a minute that’s, not that’s, not right. This is where it gets difficult. Holding all of these pieces together and lined up correctly okay, so i can feel it gripping the threads on the other side and before this thing gets too tight, you want to kind of go around the edges and make sure you’re not pinching too much of that Bead under this cover see oh geez, Eu sou, not even on camera. Sorry guys, so you see how you you get a little bit of a lip on the inside of that tire, where this thing sits on that bead. So right here, where it’s kind of tucked under you just want to peel it back a little bit just like that, go all the way around the edge of the tire make sure the bead is seated under this face plate, so we’ve got it it’s held together.
Roughly right now with one screw, what you want to do is go to the opposite side and put another one in so, and i can see it’s slightly askew there we go line it up. I could tell it’s not lined up because it’s not going in that hole, so i need to try and twist this a little bit. This is where this can be really frustrating it’s, trying to get all these things lined up and held together and make sure the wheel is seated well inside of it at the same time, so i think we’re finally getting somewhere yeah okay, so we got both those Sides in they’re not tightened down super tight we’re going to go around just peel this again, just to make sure it’s only gripping the bead it’s, not gripping the side wall. The tire and the other thing too is. However much air is in this tire, se você está, squeezing the hell out of the tire when you’re cinching this thing down all that air is going to be locked out of it. It basically seals the tire so it’s going to be really squishy and odd. If you have it really inflated, you want to make sure that all the tires feel about the same before you mount this down, because it does put an airtight lock on this wheel so, como eu disse, if you’re squeezing it and then you get it done you, Let go where you’re squeezing it where it’s dented in is just going to stay like that it’s going to be it’s going to be lacking air inside the tire.
So it might roll warped or it’ll just look like it’s flat all the time when you’re driving it. So you want to you, want wan na make sure you’re squeezing here and not on the wheel itself, when you’re trying to tighten these things down. So we got two in there. We’Ll get the rest of these around the outside around the outside around the outside and you’ll feel when they grip that back back piece back here, because then all of a sudden, you can feel it actually threading it’s, pretty pretty loosely just slides in these holes and And you can spin it around for a while you’ll feel it grip that back puck there. It gets just kind of hanging out spin, let it find it and there it is now it’s in there, and we will tighten all these down. You want to make sure that once we get all these in here, loosely and and holding onto the tire well um that you want to go, i’ll just show you rather than explain it it’s the same thing they do. If you take your car to a tire shop and they mount real tires onto your car, you never just start with one crank. It all the way down and then go in a circle. You actually alternate back and forth across from one another. So as you’re tightening this, if i, if i crank this one all the way down as tight as i can it’s going to push this bead in and then when i tighten these it’s going to be offset and off center, you want to you want to go From like one to here to here to here, to your deer and back and forth, always go from one and go straight across to the opposite side as you’re moving around so we’ll start with this one, and you don’t want to crank it all the way down.
You just want to do the same pattern a few times until it gets nice and tight Music. OKEY, that’s pretty well tied on there. I might go one more pass around, but now you can see that it’s seated really! Bem, you get the beads sitting under the rim, nice and right where it should be, got good air in it and it’s seated. Bem, it doesn’t have a side that’s popped out too far or anything that’s. One thing that i i had to redo one of these when i first time i ever did one because i didn’t know these little tips and tricks so we’re pretty much there. This one’s done i’m gon na. Do the other three get all four of them done and then we’ll pick a truck to put them on all right guys, so we got all the tires and wheels mounted and done doesn’t take too long to do, but we got them all. They all feel like they got about the same amount of air. The beads are nice on both sides front and back, and i think we’re gon na mount these to the jeep it’s, the newest truck it’s got these stock wheels that we’ve ran on multiple different vehicles. Now so let’s try something a little more aggressive, a little smaller and i also forgot to mention i brought the grease over so when i first did a set of these, which they’re now on the charisma msa1e the white version of these those mickey thompson baja claws.
I had a hell of a time getting this back big disc piece through the wheel, especially it would like grip some of the the rubber and like pull it through with that plastic inner ring that’s inside the wheel. So you put a little bit of this on the uh on the edge of the ring on the inside of the ring this slides right through, and you could do it on a little bit on the edge of the bead for the wheels too and everything just Kind of slides together a lot easier, it’s very, very little amount of grease needed, but it helps a lot when you’re trying to get these things put together. So let’s grab one of the tools so also the the the rock or oh yeah, Rc, quatro rodas, drive these steel wheels come with this little tool. A lot of people like i already have a tool i don’t need it keep this tool because, like on my tool kit here, i have a four millimeter hex head screw or uh hex head screw thing, but it doesn’t fit inside these wheels. So i couldn’t actually mount these if i wanted to with just this. This is specifically designed to be very thin and small and fit right inside there. Então, if you’re getting a set of these, keep this tool, even if you don’t use it for everything, you got to use it for these Music, então a música, então a música, todos os caras bem.
O que você acha? I think that looks pretty awesome. Vamos., take a closer look like the look of those so they’re a little smaller. I need to stiffen up the rear suspension it droops a little compared to the front, but i got i got more suspension on the way, so i guess i’m, not too worried about it. You can tell side by side they’re a little shorter they’re a little wider. I don’t know if that’ll show on camera very well here we go they’re a little wider, but i think they just got a little bit more of an aggressive look to them and i really like that. Yeah that thing looks pretty sweet, so let’s uh let’s get a few shots of it running around the course have a little fun and that’ll be the end of the video. So so so all right, we’ve gotten to this let’s, see if with just some wheels and tires if they can make it up here now realign when this thing was stock. Yesterday i couldn’t get up this thing, dang just some wheels and tires, and it changed its ability to get up that let’s, try and get another angle on that thing. Bem, guys that’s going to do it for today’s video um, just a simple kind of how to on how to install some wheels and on these four piece, bead lock, or how to install some tires on these four piece. Speed lock wheels.
Sometimes you just can’t talk. You know um, the stock ones are cool, eles são, nice and soft. These are way softer and stickier um these. What are these rock creepers yeah? These rock creepers from rc four wheel drive, are really awesome. I like these a lot and i think they have a great look on the truck i mean i, these look fine, but this like kind of shiny gloss, look to it with the dark black metal, uh wheel, just kind of pops on the white jeep, então eu sou, Really happy with this, i think these probably found a permanent home just now on this thing and uh, we got plenty more modifications to come i’m, just waiting on a few more parts to get this and the c10 up to the same uh spot as the betty. So these will all have a pretty decent amount of modifications. Nothing too crazy, we’re not doing all the mods available, but also i i don’t know i don’t like how far this sticks out. I do want to do something to this, to get it back further on the frame, if i have to kind of chop some of this out or do something i’m gon na mod that so it doesn’t stick out so much because from the side i don’t, like The way it looks from the front it’s, Nada mau, you can’t really tell too much but yeah anyways thanks for watching guys. If you want to see more tutorials how to’s comparisons, competitions, unboxings reviews straight up just fun runs around the courses and many more to come.
