So this wheel over here, we’re gon na, go ahead and take off with our um Music, with our six mil and though that off put those extensions together, get your ratchet make sure we’re going in the reverse. You go. It’S got nylon on it, so it’s a little hard to twist this, just pops off make sure you keep all your nuts together and i usually put a wheel underneath here but that’s what i would normally do. Okay, so now we’re into this position, let’s straighten our motor out. Okay, actually it’s better for you guys if it’s like that, okay, so now we’re going to take out this nut on your steering arm right right there or that, where my screw is right, there i’m going to take my we’re going to take off that nut with Sour Music, sorry that’s, my dog, okay, so i’m. Taking that nut, our 5.5 millimeter put that on there and uh i may need to go: get a screwdriver there’s a screw under there. Sometimes it twists! Sometimes i don’t and we’re lucky it did not twist. Okay, so there’s our nut, so here’s our arm loose and our steering armor is going to make sure that keeps safe, we’re going to put that over to the side and put that over to the side. So now we’re at this point, so oh we’re still going to need a screwdriver i’ll, be back all right. So now that i got my screwdriver we’re just going to take this screw out, that has our that has our arm.
That goes up and down that gray arm right there, yeah going up and down on my finger, take that off a normal phillips head screw here’s the number one if it will go on there, i’ll be back guys all right now that we’re back from that short Intermission we got that screw out so now our gray arm get a better camera angle, so our great arm right there is detached, and this is still free. So now the control arm that is last thing holding this swing part on or this whole assembly on, is right. There that little screw so it’s, just another phillips head screw so i’m, just gon na unscrew that i really wish. I just had like a normal screwdriver set in my hands, but all i got ta eat they’re so annoying to mess around with. But once you get like an eight like two eight quarter of the threads through, it should just slide see because um on it is actually only the front part of it is actual threads and the rest of it’s, just kind of like a rod. So make sure you definitely do not lose those because that’ll stop you from whatever you’re doing so. This should just kind of it might take. It might have a little resistance because it’s been on there for a little bit. So now we can move the rc car out of our way for this moment, so we can assemble or disassembly we’re not done discussing them.
We got to take these eclipse out now: there’s there’s, an actual e clip pliers, but there’s a little too fancy for me. I mean it’s, just like you push on the old one to get it out and you push on the new one to get it in so i’m gon na get these off and i’ll be back whenever i get that done. Okay, all right, so i found that just take one e clip out and then you can just push and then your whole rod comes through and this should just come apart and now you can get your nice shiny, red new parts. I mean the parts originally weren’t. Even broken it’s just i was looking at cheap upgrades for um, whatever that is, and this popped up, because apparently these break like breaking uh, brownie, apparently they’re, just really really cheap and soft softly made plastic that’s what’s. What um this guy kev said, um, so we’re gon na get our new packaging open, very gracefully, very gracefully! I don’t know why they put such thick plastic okay. So now we got our hardware and this is actually put together with a different kind of rod. So you see those that’s. What originally held the knuckle for your wheel to attach – and your caster block to attach together was originally this, but the new ones actually come with the same exact ones that hold the control arm onto the caster block. So it’s very easy and simple to install, and these are actually really nice machined metal parts like actual like alloy or probably alloy, yeah, alloy or aluminum.
I call it alloy, but um. Very nice, machined alloy parts it’s got a nice powder coat job. These were 14. After shipping – and they are very strong – these are very easy to break according to the web. So i got these let’s make sure we got the right one, which we don’t and actually this is a good time to match your parts up. So i already did, but just kind of like just hold them next to each other and just make sure they resemble something now notice how there’s three holes on this one and there’s only one hole in this one that’s. So you can actually so on on a normal rc car. Your wheels will be set perfect dead, well, not all the time but majority of the time, so you can set them in with your uh camber negative and positive camber. This is negative. Camber that’s positive, camber, i’m, pretty sure you can only set i’m pretty sure you can go a notch negative or a notch. Positive um i don’t know which is better so i’m just going to keep it like that, and i may experiment with the negative and positive camber. I’M. Pretty sure positive camber is better with high speed, but no i don’t know what negative camber is, but yeah so we’re just going to make sure we got the right part with the part that we just took off, which is so. This is the one for the left, so i’m gon na put that over to the side.
This is one for the right, so, okay, so we’re gon na end up putting it on the middle, the middle hole that i got this through so we’re gon na put it in the middle hole. What are you doing? Pig, my dog anyways um, so we’re gon na put these nice shiny, new uh red parts. Now this was made. I i got the red to match the rest of the rc car, because the body’s red and the shocks are in. I was like you know what let’s keep with the red theme and i’ll just get right: caster blocks so that’s. What i did so we’re going to try and remember how these went back together. So, first of all, we need to get these and we need to get when you get this slide. Those together – and we put do we put that or do we put that definitely don’t put that okay, okay, so we got these to put in there just like so so those just slide on him and thread on into there. So, instead of just this rod that could easily come out it’s these nice threaded alloy parts with an allen, come on guys what ugh i got! Ta go: get allen, wrenches, wonderful, but that’s, okay, but we’re, just gon na unscrew that put this on. So we go so that’s okay. So if it’s like that and that’s like that yeah okay, so you just want to make sure your the top of your tie.
Rod is facing up. I almost made that mistake, so we’re just going to slide this through. I guess i’ve never seen these type of caster blocks installed. I just thought they were a really good deal and really nice parts. Okay, so i hope that will work because it’s kind of got a limiter like on the block itself. If you can’t tell i don’t know if the last one was like, though i’m gon na check real, quick, um yeah they yeah the last one was like that too. All right, that’s, fine, i’m gon na go get all in case. I’Ll burn back all right, so we got our allen key now stupid phone now, okay, so we got our allen key now and it is the correct size, um all right. So now we just need to thread this on with all the might and glory. We got now keep in mind, you don’t, want it too tight. Am i i’m threading it in on the wrong side and i feel really really stupid now so make sure you’re putting in the threaded with the threaded side of your caster block. That may be obvious, but it obviously wasn’t for me, but it is obvious. Okay, so we’re just oh, why is that? Okay now granted, i could have got a whole neck. I could have got a whole front, end knuckles and everything for not much at all for an extra 15 bucks. On top of what i paid here, that would have been a steal, we’re, just gon na make sure we got plenty and in fact, do not over tighten your alloy parts, and i should have put anti seize on there.
But i don’t feel like ain’t. Dealing with anti seize on the kitchen table kitchen table is the best place to do this. Video so um that works flawlessly. Um it’s actually really really solid, so there’s, one of our put together, we’re gon na put together the other one i’m gon na. Do that one off camera and then i’ll get back with you guys whenever i get that one done so i’ll be back all right! Let’S get this camera back right, so we have got them both put together. That only took me like 30 seconds to put the second one together, um. First one was very challenging for whatever reason so now it’s time to bring our car back over here, Music um. After i clear off my workspace, i don’t know what these are for yet i’m sure they’re for something very important: Music i’ll, be back guys all right after that short intermission i’m going to put this uh, i guess the driver’s side, the driver’s side, caster blocks on And then, once i get familiar with putting the new ones on, i will get back with you guys so i’ll be back so now that i have familiarized myself with the left side, see how installed that is. That took me about five to ten minutes. To put that on being a beginner, i’ve, never really touched rc cars before i’ve i’ve had to mess with the gearbox just a little bit on this thing, um, but not much so now that we got this part, the right side installed uh.
This actually took me a second to remember exactly how this went together, because i thought i completely put this wrong. I actually had to take it. I actually ended up taking it apart again, but i was completely wrong. You don’t have to take a part again, so you got your caster block right and you just slide it into your a arm just like no one’s, even there um and you make sure you put it on the right threads. So you put the phillips the the phillips head towards the front, so you just slide that in uh, just like that and it’s just plastic, so you don’t want to tighten it down too much. So just going to get your phillips head and screw that down and i’ll be back with you guys whenever i get that done all right so now that we got that caster block in we’re, going to put our steering linkage and hook it up to our knuckle. Just like so put that on, i actually do this first. Just so, i know exactly where i want it. My camber and i’ll show you, where i put my camber it’s like it’s right before it’s it’s in the middle, so you’re gon na bring your your arm back down. I had it like locked up here, you’re gon na bring that back down and i’ll actually put it on the ground, for you guys, you guys can see so you’re. Just gon na put the line that up with whatever caster angle you want um.
You want to get your funny looking bolt focus okay, let’s get in so you’re gon na. Actually i can slide zoom in just a little bit. Come on it’s gon na be a pain, okay, so we’re gon na slide. That into i mean i really wish. I could just slide that into that gray to make gray on you can even see because my fat fingers, but if you took it apart, you’re gon na be able to put back together that’s, basically what i’m gon na say. You just put that in and there’s these tiny little flipping washers you lose on like hot cakes, you put them on there and then you just put it on your caster. Whatever angle, you want i’m putting it on the middle, because it’s like it’s, not i’ll, be back whenever i get this done whenever i get that on there, so that i got that started. Threading i’m just going to take this off and line all this up and actually put that over top first Music screw it all in okay, so we’re all put together for that side. Now we’re, just gon na put on the wheels so i’m going to put on i’m actually just putting on this clip, so you just want to slide there’s hexes on the inside of these, so you just want to line it up with the hex on the inside Of the wheel, it’s a boom i’m, actually so much easier, you’re sitting down; okay, so you’re sitting down and you’re relaxed, while you’re back screaming at you.
So you just want to put that on put that in there and make sure you do not over tighten this. You just got ta make sure you’re lined up on your hooks to your eggs. Tighten it down not hard at all, like don’t. Tighten it very much very little click. Okay! So now let’s talk to 100 spec, hey it don’t matter. If it’s cross, threaded or torque to spec tight is tight. Don’T follow that so i’m going to get this wheel on i’ll meet you guys whenever we get that done, alrighty y’all! Thank you all for watching this video. Let me know if this does well or not um. I just did some caster blocks install on this traxxas slash, i believe, that’s, the name of it. Um you’ll see some more videos of this thing in action more later, but um i’m just kind of limited to my garage right now, but you all have a good night good evening. Good afternoon.
