So today, i’m gon na do a little update here where we are on ugly bubba. I do have this truck now in a running condition: uh it’s, ready to get out and uh get it on the rocks on the trails to see. If i need to do any shock tuning or what have we um, we do have the uh axe in here. Up and running – and that was a little bit of a trick for me – it’s the first time i’ve ever messed with an ax system and uh well, i didn’t know that i had to do the auto calibration where we unplug it from the receiver and hit the Power button and whatever buttons and make it go through its uh little auto calibration sequence, but we got that resolved um thanks to fern solo. I give him a call told him. I was having some issues and uh. You know he pointed me in the right direction to get that up and running so uh, yeah and uh from what i tested in uh. You know just in my motel room uh. This thing is gon na be stupid. Uh this thing’s, like a tractor, i do have a nine nine tooth pinion gear in here, so uh, yeah, she’s, geared real low and the uh control on the bottom end is great and it also has a little bit of get up and go so i’m. Real happy with the ax system um, one of the things that i don’t have working is my light bar and my headlights.
I didn’t have a light switch to run from the receiver to power, my lights and the local hobby shop here, where i’m at only had one that was rated for 5 volts and i’ve, got the bec in this set at 7.4 volts so that wasn’t gon na Work so we’ll have to tidy that up, but i do have all the uh. The light wiring ran back to the receiver box. Now. Another issue i ran into is with my winch um. I have rc four wheel, drive winch controller mounted in here, but i can’t get the winch to work with the uh with the winch controller for some reason and i’m, not exactly sure what i have going on the winch works. If i run it off the battery directly, so i know that’s good uh, the winch controller is brand. New receiver is brand new. I have the dx5 and from everything i can tell i’ve got the uh. I’Ve got the uh. The radio set up right unless there’s a step i’m missing. I have it set for three position: um, it should be working but it’s, not. I even tried it with a a different brand. New rc, four wheel, drive winch controller, still the same thing: it just doesn’t. Uh, it doesn’t want to work, so i know it’s wired correctly, so it’s either something going on with the signal or i don’t know i don’t know exactly, but i think what i’m going to do is probably uh.
Instead of using the rc four wheel, drive winch controller, i will probably uh put an esc in here and run my winch that way, but you know that’s, neither here or there. This thing is up and running so it’s uh, in condition to get it out on the trail and uh see what we got going on see how it’s gon na perform and uh that’s what i’m gon na do. I actually have tomorrow off, so i think i’m gon na see if i can get out and get some run, video of this thing for you guys and uh for myself, because i do want to see how this thing is gon na perform out on the trails And i got a pretty good feeling that, even though this is a real heavy rig, it’s gon na do pretty good from what i can tell from you know the way i’ve ran it in the room here um. It seems to be pretty stable on side hilling and this and that so i think it’s going to work out pretty good, so uh yeah, like i said, we’re going to get you uh some run video footage of ugly bubba in the near future, and then we Are going to move on to some other projects that i have because that’s been? My main goal is to get as many of these projects done as i can that i have you know kind of in the waiting room, which brings me to my little side project that i kind of started unexpectedly, which is the cmx mst scorcher build so uh.
One of the things i wanted to do with that is to uh get some new wheels and tires for it. So i did pick up a set of these boom racing. 155 bead lock wheels and we’re going to uh get those put on there get them put together. I got some 1.55 pit. Bull rock beast tires uh. These are 3.85, which is just a little bit taller than the tires that came on the cmx but uh. I think they’ll uh be just fine on this build kind of a little bit more aggressive and uh. You know i’ve had pretty good luck with pitbull rock beast tires in the past, so i figured i’d try some of these out for a small tire build so anyway, yeah that’s what i got going on there, um we’re gon na get bubba out for a run. This truck is going to stay with me as i travel until we get it built the little sand scorcher and i will be as i go home. I will be grabbing different stuff to bring out with us like. I said this is a side project, so uh yeah that’s what we’re gon na do and uh.
