expecting some rain later, but um let’s we’re, going to talk today about this car we’re going to do a review of this car. This is the red tornado, 10th scale boogie. This is the epx. This is the pro version, so this has got a brushless system in it um. So this is your classic temp skill boogie. You don’t see that many 10 scale boogies out there right now. The eight skill boogies are all on vogue on kind of, like crazy success, power um, but this is a great little temp skill boogie. We really like this. This is the pro version, so you can see immediately. It’S got threaded aluminum shock bodies, blue aluminum, shock towers, it’s got the same on the rear. It’S got these kind of cool matching blue rims um, a blue body, so it’s all about the blue um. This is a great great little. Boogie comes with the standard, redcat rcr 2ce controller, and this is a nice controller works. Well got good range, takes four double a batteries um this truck this buggy retails for about 270 um out the door, and it is uh yeah, i think, it’s a great buy. If you want a temp scale, boogie that you just bash around or take to the track, this thing performs um really really well. I used to race, temp, scale, boogie and eight scale boogie, and i really i really like this uh this this truck this boogie. So the body just comes off, we can see underneath here it comes with a lipo.
This lipo is a hex fly 3500. So not not a super high capacity. You can put a 5200 in here no problem standard sized lipo fitting this one will give it about 20 minutes run time because it’s, not a huge power draw on this truck it’s a 2x lipo that it comes with. You can run this car on a 3s. I don’t recommend it it’s pretty quick on 2s, but you can and they’ll avoid your warranty with with redcat. It comes with the brushless motor here: 60 amp, waterproof esc, the standard red car receiver here and it comes with – and this is the only slight downside i think, on this uh on this buggy. It only comes with a free kg, servo um. It performs reasonably well out of the box with that servo, but that is something that you could possibly uh look to upgrade in in the future. It’S got a nice um kind of like stiff chassis um. The the boogie is really really stiff, i’m, quite giving it quite a bit of force there and it’s not really twisting the chassis at all. You can get aluminum chassis. You can get all kind of hop. Ups for this, and you can get aluminum knuckles, aluminum hub carriers, you can get aluminum everything aluminum diff cases, um just about everything for this arms upper turn, buckles everything is available in blue aluminum or purple. Aluminum comes with a nice little body: shell that’s, pretty tough it’s, uh it’s, a nice color, sits on there nice and makes the boogie look.
Boogie like and uh runs. Uh runs real well. So what we’re gon na do is we’ll put this on the ground and you can uh, you can see, you can see how it runs being a buggy temps, girl, boogie, it’s, small it’s, light it’s nimble and it handles it handles really really well. It comes with these um kind of block, pin uh tires on it and one other thing that is a little bit a little bit i don’t quite like is there’s no foam in these tyres that comes with um for bashing around that’s no problem, but if you Want to get foams and foam tires and put them in here, there’s, so many different ones on the market for between you know generally about 20 to 25 dollars. You can get a full set of whatever style of rim or tire you would like, for this from street, tires to uh to paddle tires whatever you want to run on here, so let’s let’s turn it on as always radio on first i’m gon na plug this Guy up there we go dean’s connectors t plugs on here. We’Ll put the body back on make sure that the leads are out the way so being a buggy. It’S got three body pins, so one less for you to lose. I’Ll put this uh on here. I’Ll. Tell you what let’s turn it on before we get too far, but the on off switch is really easy to access when the body’s on here is right, here: standard hobby wing, 60, amp esc, so a nice simple, but reliable, easily programmable esc on this.
On this boogie, which is what you want i’m, not into all this complicated stuff where you go, do this, do that to get it all calibrated, you don’t need to do any of that on this buggy, so let’s uh let’s put it on the ground and see What we got so it handles great strong brakes. Strong acceleration is spinning the tires here on the uh. On the concrete surface that we have here in the parking lot, you can hear that let’s get the radar going and see what she’ll do stock on uh. On a 2s battery it’s, not a high c rated battery, but it’s a reasonable battery i’ve had these batteries for several years, not the one that’s in here, but i’ve used these batteries, as always with lipos. As long as you look after them, they usually last pretty good we’ll, take it down the street and then i’m gon na bring it back and we’ll get a decent reading. Then so here we go coming down. So we’ve got 33 miles an hour there, which seems seems about right. I know for a fact this buggy will do 45 even close to 50, with the optional gearing on on a 3s cycle, so it’s cut it’s kind of a little bit under geared from the factory but that’s what you want if you’re taking it out and you’re Running at a track or somewhere like that, you don’t need that super high top speed.
You want that punch that take off to be able to get over that triple or get over that double and have control on the track. You’Re not worried about going 70 miles. An hour down the straight because the straight’s not long enough, you need to have that punch and that control coming coming out the corners, so we’ll run it about a bit more beautiful control, so easy to drive, hands off straight line. There come to a stop. Go on the grass no problem getting through this. You know partially morning grass here i’ve been about a week since they mowed this grass. The baby runs through there great now. This book is for sale, so i’m, not gon na jump it. But one thing i’ll tell you about this buggy having run it myself for quite a long time, is that this buggy will jump. Great it’s got a very neutral attitude in the air. So what that means? Is you hit that ramp and it’s not going to go like this and it’s not going to go like this? It flies through the air, nice and level it’s very well balanced when you’re coming off that ramp and it’s easy to land it nice and flat, which is what you want to do with a buggy. You don’t want to come in. Well, maybe if you’re coming on a downside of a ramp, you just want to land it just front wheels first, just slightly so you get that great take off as it goes back to the ground, but this this buggy has got great manners when it’s in the Air flying through the air, it’s uh it’s it’s great – you know my son when he was 10 years old.
He was running this buggy and he was jumping off the ramps here in the parking lot going 12 feet in the air after big ramps and landing it just fine and it was running great and he was 10 years old. So it handles great got tight. Turning radius accelerates very fast. You see the level of acceleration there handles good. Now on this surface, it’s going to wear these tires out pretty quick um, but you can get street tires for it. If you’re mainly running on the street um, you know like say you: can you can hop this up if you want to to 3s, i really wouldn’t go more than 3s, because then you start to put a lot of strain mainly on the dog bones and the Drive and the transmission of the truck and what you’ll start to do is you’ll actually start to twist the dog bones. If you’ve got too much power and on 4s, it would be ridiculous. Now you can’t run it on 4s without having to change the esc. You can’t do it, so this is a great great boogie and it’s, not expensive, 270 dollars for a race ready, pretty much um temp scale boogie. You know there’s a lot of other rigs out there that are double that price, that don’t even come with a radio or wheels, or anything like that. You know this has got a solid good, reliable power system in it. That’Ll last you for years.
The battery is good um that comes with it 3500 milliamp hours um. All the parts are readily available. They’Re not expensive and it’s got the threaded. Aluminum oil filled shocks on here. Um and it’s got bearings all around and it’s just it’s, just a great little buggy. If you like buggies – and you just want to get a boogie to bash or a buggy to go, have fun with at the track on a weekend or to run in the field at the back of your house with some ramps um this. This is a great great choice, so give it some thought: um i’ve! Never ever had anybody buy one of these and complain they didn’t, like it they’re they’re, a great great little boogie, so um thanks for watching and uh check us out on facebook and on instagram. Third coast rc, thanks to my cameraman here, tom and uh we’ll uh we’ll, see you next time.
