Typically, they run motorcycles down this drag strip here, but today, we’re gon na be running the new drag slash down there we’ll be testing the speed on the truck with the 2s and 3s battery and i’m going to show you a little bit more about the truck Too let’s get started and right here it is guys a 1967 chevrolet c10 drag slash from traxxas in the blue doesn’t. This thing look awesome, yeah. The windows are blacked out, they’re tinted over not really. A fan of that i’d rather see the uh, the clear glass, but it does look pretty cool it’s got the mickey thompson tires and weld rims. This thing really does look sharp. You can see it has a molded grill up on the front. Headlights turn signals the lights and the turn signals do have light buckets, so you can stick your led lights inside even has the chevrolet emblem up on the grill. This is a gm official licensed product. The back of the truck has a hard plastic. Molded wing. Has the wheelie bars and on the tailgate you can see chevrolet along with the two tail lights. Those two taillights do not have light buckets top of the hood and inside the bed. You can see where you have your body clips and there’s a nice graphic, showing you a gas tank. This truck is geared toward the beginner or somebody already in the rc hobby, looking to get into drag racing.
This truck has a lot of nice features like tsm, that’s, traxxas stability management system and this basically the truck has a gyro. So when you punch the gas off the line, the truck will start getting out of shape, but the gyro will help keep the truck straight. Going down the line now, if you don’t, want the tsm on, you can turn that off and put the truck in blinking mode, but you’ll still have the tsm in braking at the end of the straightaway, when you really need it. So i heard it over and over again on social media. This is nothing more than a traxxas slash what’s different about it well i’m, going to show you guys, we’re going to pop off the body pins on the new drag, slash and i’m going to pop off the body pins here on this traxxas slash. Both trucks are brand new and i’ll be able to show you the differences let’s pop the body pins off this brand new slash and we’ll pop the body off the new drag slash, taking a look underneath the body you can see the hard plastic rear bumper and The hard plastic molded front grille, taking a look at the brand new traxxas slash on the left versus the traxxas, drag slash on the right there’s. Clearly, big differences between the two, the brand new traxxas slash, has a high center gravity chassis. The new drag slash has an lcg that’s, a low center gravity chassis, the front bumper on the regular slash is more made for off road and the bumper on the drag.
Slash sits back in a little bit to fit the body and it has a nice foam. Padding the front ends on both trucks are very similar on the suspension. They both look pretty much. The same looks like they’re using the same shocks tires, are different on the new drag slash. Of course, you have more of a drag tire and the traxxas slash has more of an off road tire sitting, one on top of the other. You can see the shocks really do. Look like the same size and it looks like the front suspension’s about the same width and everything else looks the same from the regular slash to the drag. Slash now on the back of the truck it’s a whole different story. You can see you got a higher ride, height on the standard, slash and the new drag slash, that’s, much lower the bulkhead, where the shocks attach on the new drag, slash, that’s different. To give you a different stance, and we can see that the new drag slash is a lot narrower than the standard slash you line up the axles on one side, you can see how much difference it is between one chassis to the other. When you look real close, you can see that the rear shocks on drag slash are much smaller than the ones on the regular slash. The axles on the drag. Slash are much bigger compared to the ones on the regular slash and when you look real close, the transmission on the drag slash is all together different it’s, not anything like the regular slash, regular slash, has a 12 turn brush motor.
The new drag slash has the valencian 3500 motor and the velenian vxl 3s power system, regular, slash you run a nickel metal hydride or a 2 cell lipo battery the new drag slash. You can run a 2s or 3s lipo battery. The new dragslash has a tsm traxxas stability management system, and you would remove this plug right. Here. Go down and press a button and that would put that receiver in blinking mode and that would eliminate your traxxas stability management system, except for when under braking and always turn your transmitter on first and then when it’s time. To turn on the truck. The power button. Is located right here on top of the esc, the wheelie bar feels heavy duty and there’s five different positions that you can set it in to razor lower it mickey thompson tires and the weld rims. Just look absolutely amazing. We take a look at the fronts and the tread pattern on the front even looks realistic. All right, let’s get the body back on this brand. New traxxas drag slash and see what it’ll do down the strip all right, so we got dean and he never driven a drag car before so he’s gon na be running the drag slash for me. We do have the gns performance analyzer in the back of the truck we’re, going to measure some speed here and we marked off about 160 foot, which is somewhere down along those gray grates down there dean’s going to hammer on the gas here and we’ll get a Reading for you guys and see what this thing will do – and this is on 2s lipo Music, so we got a few runs on that battery it’s a 2s light bow i’ve got 35 mile per hour, 4.
2 seconds 160 foot. So the second try on the 2s lipo battery got 35 mile per hour 4.250 seconds now we’re going to test this brand new trans brake switch from traxxas it’s, this red button right here and you press on this red button, pull in the trigger to where you Want the truck to start release the button, so it’s kind of like a stall converter on a real drag car, so we’re going to see if we can improve our speed on this run here and our time with that new switch. So my driver is new to rc drag racing, but you can see did make an improvement with using that trans brake switch time of 4.090 35 mile per hour and he did set it full throttle. So that was a hard launch right off the line and definitely made a big improvement in the time all right now, we’re gon na turn off the tsm, and i believe you do that by turning that all the way to zero in this knob right here. So this should be all driver from this point on let’s see how the truck reacts. Whoa, big difference, big difference, big difference there right, yeah, no control. This is our second test with the tsm off definitely helps with the tsm on and we’re gon na reinforce that, just by turning it back on again and see what happens so we’re going to set that dial to zero. Well, what you do is you set this dial right here to the middle and that should turn our tsm back on Music, big, big difference now, we’ll see what the truck looks like under braking with that tsm you can see.
It definitely works good all right. So without dean’s hand on the steering wheel and we shake the car back and forth, we can see the wheels turn that’s the tsm doing its job that’s. What gives you that nice straight launch off the line now we’re ready to try 3s lipo dean? What do you say let’s? Do it all right let’s? Do it all right got that 3s lipo in there we even have a little smoke rolling off the tires. Oh yeah we’re ready to go that last run. There was no tsm involved. The front wheels were off the ground. The truck ran straight down the hole: 160 foot dean – 3s lipo. You just ran a wheelie down that straightaway there half way down a lot different uh when you put the power to it right. Absolutely, i love it hey. We had a little smoke burning off the tires. We definitely can see that 3s lipo power on that truck. Do you think he can beat your time on the earlier run? Absolutely okay let’s see what we can do. The rear tires are reinforced, so it should help uh. Oh, we were getting ready to make another 3s run and taking a look at these tires right here, you can see it shows a little bit of wear but it’s really not too bad and heating. The tires up did help on those starts, but if you look at this other side here, it doesn’t look bad right here when you spin the tire over here, it must have it started hopping and it grabbed and blew the tire apart.
If we open up the tire you can see the reinforcements inside the tire and the foam inside the tire, it was really doing good until this happened. So it is unfortunate, but we’ll have to get another tire and come back out and try it out again before we can get a speed run on that 3s lipo battery. What a great time we had here today with the traxxas drag slash. I want to thank the guys at the reading motorcycle club for letting me use the facility and putting that truck in the environment where it belongs. On the drag strip. We tested the truck on 2s lipo battery power ran 35 mile per hour and we even tried that new brake tran switch, and you know what it works – awesome just press that red button pulling the trigger. You can get a nice hard launch, wide, open throttle and it shaved a quarter of a second off my driver’s time when he did that. And then we stuck the 3s lipo battery power in there and the truck did a wheelie down the hole straight away. But it stayed nice and straight so that says a lot for those new traxxas tires. They worked great, then it’s kind of like operator error. We were down in the burnout pit and we were warming up the tires. Then we blew a hole through the tire. So i’m not able to get you guys a mile per hour, reading on that 3s lipo and that traxxas drag slash, but we will be back out here again to try it.
