RC Grave Digger Monster Monster Jam Ultimate Modification
This has got two solid axles and four link suspension. If you look at most rc cars, they’ve got double wishbone suspension, it’s a completely different design, so i’ve ordered the parts to give this four wheel, steering a little while ago and i’m still waiting for the part. But we have another rc monster truck here that in the last video um yeah it kind of broke. It was supposed to be a shelf queen, but we got a little bit carried away, but we can steal the steering parts off of this and put it on the back of this one also look we’ve got a broken shock, but no big deal. We can buy one off of here too so we’re going to stop waffling we’re, going to do some wrenching we’re, going to get the steering on there and then we’re going to take it out and see how good four wheel steering really is so let’s start off With taking the parts off of this donor car, all right, so we’ve got all the parts that we need off this son of a digger, guys. Don’T worry, i’ve ordered all the parts for it and as soon as they turn up we’re going to put this one back together again and for those of you that want to do the same conversion to your truck i’m gon na put a link down below to All the parts that you need to convert it also you’re gon na need a different radio for the extra channel.
So i like to use this radio here because i can use this switch here for the rear steer, toggle let’s get it fitted, so i’ve actually got the trill aluminium actual housings on this and i’ve. Also already in a previous video put the servo mount on there. So this conversion will work on both the true axles and also on the stock axles, so down below i’m going to link to both parts. Obviously, the aluminium axles are going to be a lot stronger. So next we’ve got to fit these c hubs and you want to pay careful attention to which way your caster angle goes. So you want the steering stop to be on this side, because when you land on the back and the wheel forces over it’s going to hit against the stop there and then also you’ll have a look at that angle. Here the angle of the kingpin you want it slightly tilting back a little bit, because if you have it this way around caster angle faces that way. Then what happens when you’re going in a straight line? The wheels are going to not want to self center they’re going to be flapping around when they’re trying to fight each other, a bit like when you look at the armors when you’re driving them backwards. The front wheels always go like that and that’s because of that caster angle. So if you’ve got a four wheel, steering monster truck and your rear wheels are flapping, then the swap this side with that side, and it should all be good.
This one here is the right hand, side knuckle that we want put it lock, tight on the screws and screw it on. Next we can fit this contraption, so i’m waiting to get some trill aluminium runs, but for now the stock plastic ones will do so. Next, i want to do the same to this side and then we’re going to get you back on boom got both sides on there. Now i’ve had to do a little repair job temporarily on the steering i’m going to crack in there not too much of a big deal. It’S got a metal rod running through the middle of it, but without the tape it separates, so we’ve got new ones coming. I think in future we’re going to try and get some metal ones just beef it up. Somehow i don’t know so next servo in wheels on wire it up, and then we can go play oh shock, the servo wire just doesn’t reach in there. So we need a little extension lead. I think 10 centimeters. I should do. Let me put the rear steer into aux 1 and move the lights over to battery check it out guys that turning circle’s gon na be ridiculous. So next we’re gon na set up the rear steering. So i like to put the rear steering onto this position, switch here f, because this one here is a three position switch. You can have one way left one way right and it will self center so hit.
The scroll wheel to get into the menu first of all you want to go down to right, then go down the steering, hit the button to select it and then change that to break select. It then go down to here where it says, trim f, and we want to turn that off. So you want to go all the way down to inhabit or inhabit inhibit whatever you call it so done, go into menu. Next, we need to assign the channels you want to go down to aux assign. So whatever channel you plug that rear steering into is what you want to select here. So in my case, it’s aux 1 and then we go to input and then we want to select that to whatever switch we want to select it to. In my case, that is that switch there number f. So you want the mode on free position. The cyclic on inhibit – and this mementory, whatever it’s called on active, then go back to the tarp back to there and that’s it boom, so we’ve got front, steering there rear steering there, and if this goes the wrong way around. All you’ve got to do is: go back into your menu, go down to reverse, go onto your aux and reverse it, and then this is going to go the opposite way. Then, to get your wheels facing straight, you can just go into your sub trim and adjust that there and boom ready for action all right here.
We go first guys so here’s the toning circle with that wheel steer. We do it wrist here, check it out, guys that’s crazy. We can do donuts on carpet. You can craft crawl it like that. Look, oh life, hose dead, let’s charge it up and get it out in the real world all right here. We are on location enough here again the snow’s gone this time, let’s see what the rear will steer with the trail. Axles is made of what’s that stevie at the rear, yeah it’s not meant to, is it i modified it awesome. Look awesome we’ve got that on a switch there, yeah yeah Music, that’s right. Oh the trio yeah black metal, yeah wow. I need some of them. I’M gon na get something. Dean’S got his techno over there. He’S just destroyed his created, ass he’s destroyed his mini max and now he’s on to the techno Music uh. Oh it’s, still going not a problem for the trail axle housings. Oh dean’s got to take no one to go where he goes: Music, Music luck, actually it’s just turned itself off. It’S got a rubbish, blx switch on it. This four nest is meant to be as powerful as a 6s. Oh yeah it’s a high voltage 15 point. Whatever it’s called all right, oh done by radio, nice Music, oh Music – oh my god! I only known it nice guys. The only thing i cannotice with this wear stairs that the back wheels are a little bit wobbly when you’re going fast Music.
Oh, it exploded game over son – oh oh that’s off! Oh, you broke the brace that sticker. There is what what saves it someone’s going to say here. The reason the back end is kicking out is. If you have a look at that servo there look. Can you move that you’ve got loads of slop in there, so i’ve got some new black servos from banggood coming we’re, going to shuffle them on a different video and give it another go, but if the back end still flops around, i think we’ll probably put this One back to the straight housing on the back and make the son of a digger wear a steer. Another plastic blah blah blah let’s roll for more action. Oh my god that went to the moon what’s he doing claire you broke! Do it! Oh! It could be worse, Music that’s it. I know it could be mine, oh my god. It loves it though Music. Oh, where is broken our front stairs broken all steering’s broken. I just got no steering at all Music. The thing is this spectrum servos, i think they’re a bit cheap and nasty that one doesn’t work anymore and that one doesn’t work anymore. All right, let’s go over for this one for now, but we’re gon na get out again in a different video dean’s got son of a digger yeah we’re, looking good! So far, oh no that’s killed it. Ah. Are you done? Oh it’s, just a plastic bit! Oh yeah, let’s crawl, it back and come back with a udr.
