When i got there, the asphalt was horrible. It was pretty rough. The car didn’t hook at all on it, so i completely scrapped that idea. I went back home and started playing around with a couple of things just to get a base tune on the car and i’m, pretty happy with where the tune’s at right now just to get some starting passes in and figure out the concrete and then we’ll move On to getting it tuned to go faster, i think you’ll be surprised with where it’s at, if it hooks today. The reason i say if it hooks today is because we got a little rain this morning. The concrete does seem dry now, but i’m still a little worried about it. I guess we’ll see once we start making some passes, so my plan is to start out with a couple of 66 foot passes, just to make sure the car is running, good, hooking up good and everything’s straight and then we’ll move on to some 132 foot passes. I know the shutdown area down there, won’t be the best for 132 foot, but i’ll. Try it out anyway, so let’s get a couple, hits in to see what we’re working with okay. So after three passes at 66 feet, the car is hooking well and it’s running consistent. That was three 181s in a row, so the car is running from zero to 66 feet in 1.81 seconds. I ran anywhere from ‘ to 40 miles an hour both times that very last pass.
I actually ran it out to what i think is 132 feet, so i’m ready to start running that far it’s still a little sketchy to get down to the shutdown area over there and slow the car down, but we’re gon na try it anyway. Just to run you through my settings right, quick before we start the esc, the launch power is at a hundred percent i’m, not using tekken’s launch delay at all i’m using that in my garopponer radio system, i’m running seven degrees of boost right now and about two Degrees of turbo, we’re gon na start playing with those settings after i get a couple hundred thirty two foot passes down still seems to be hooking. Fine. I haven’t made any other changes yet i’m hitting a bump. I believe in the concrete down there and i believe, that’s why the car keeps shooting right i’ve done this before and it was a close call, but i think i’m gon na turn the camera around and put the camera closer to the top end down there to See if i can get some footage of what’s actually going on so let’s go over a few things. While i let the car cool off for a little bit, i’ve been making a whole bunch of passes, trying to figure out why the car is drifting towards the right down track. I set up the camera down at the end over there. I really won’t be able to tell until i start editing to see what’s going on down there.
I made a bunch of passes right here. I started off way back there, instead of right here to see, if maybe it was that bump that i was talking about the car still pulled right long before i even got to that bump. I actually even ran the car in a couple of other spots here and still the same thing. The car is always pulling right. I adjusted the preload on the left hand, side in the rear, thinking that would fix it. Didn’T do anything i thought. Maybe it could be the tires ballooning, even though i have the tire bands in these de racing tires. They still do have a little ballooning to them. When i spin the tires up, they both balloon. The same amount it’s not extreme and they’re pretty equal. So i can’t see that making the car go right. I’Ve, checked alignment, i’ve, checked, steering centering i’ve checked so many different things and i’m, just not sure exactly what’s making the car go right. I’M still not going to give up just yet i’m going to make a couple more passes play around with that preload a little bit more in the rear and see if i can get it to stay straight. A lot of you have had some great tips in the past, though so i’m interested to see what you have to say. What do you think’s making the car go right? What do you think i could try to straighten this car out? Let me know in the comments below i’d really love to do a video on making the car go straight, but i need to figure out how to make my car go straight.
First, so i’m gon na let the car cool down just a little bit longer and we’ll make a couple more passes: Music problems, problems and more problems. I sure hope you guys are enjoying this real look at what it takes to run. One of these cars i’m trying to show the whole process every single thing i go through with these cars and one of the things you’ll go through, is running into problems. Things break things: don’t go the way. They should there’s a lot of power traveling through these cars, and it puts a beating on some of the parts. While attempting to make a couple more passes, i noticed the car was always leaving to the right. Now it was leaving to the right not going right down track and it was also making a crunching sound almost took some slow mo video with the gopro. You should be able to see that in the video but realized i was having a wheel issue, not sure how well you’ll be able to see that, but the hex was actually able to spin inside of the wheel. The hex inside the wheel itself looks fine. I mean i can tell it was spinning in there, but it doesn’t look damaged the hecks on the car as nice as they are. They look a little worn down. I don’t like how rounded these edges are. I think i’m gon na go ahead and change these. I might change the wheels while i’m at it just to be sure, but this is now making me wonder if this could be what was going on down track.
Maybe, as the car was going down track at higher speeds, the hex was kind of rotating in the wheel, a little, not seating perfectly and one wheel, spins faster than the other and it’s an easy way for the car to go one way or the other. Another issue i ran into is the slipper i’m, not sure if you could hear it in the video. I definitely heard it yesterday and today, i’m pretty sure my slipper pads are shot. I don’t have any more. I looked online to order. Some more looks like the shell slipper plates are out of stock, just about everywhere thought about trying to make my own but i’m going to keep looking around. You can definitely hear the slippers slipping a lot in the car it’s helping the car launch a little bit, but i think it’s wearing it out way too much kept, tightening it down and it’s, actually 100 locked right now and it’s still slipping. The problem is, the car heats up, slipper heats up and it starts spinning on there and it wears down the pads just another thing in these cars that it’s kind of like a disposable. I guess, as the car heats up the more passes you make and i’ve been making a lot of passes in a row, something that could give out could wear out and need to be replaced, especially if it’s not set just right. So i hate to keep giving you these disappointing videos like this.
I really want to give you the whole story, though, so you can see where the car starts off and where it’s going. I want to show you every step along the way, not just the good stuff. Yes, this is discouraging, but i also hope that you wouldn’t get discouraged if you’re running your car and trying to figure things out. This should show you that everyone can go through this stuff and it’s, not just you, i’m gon na head home now order those parts hope they come in. Quick and we’ll be back out testing again, hopefully with some better weather next time, i’m. Really wanting to show some real progress in these videos, so hopefully really soon you’ll be able to see the progress that i’m. Seeing yesterday i had the car at 50 miles an hour and i think it had a whole lot more in it so make sure to leave a like if you’re, enjoying these videos comment down below.
