I have got this for very good reason: the old tactic, radio i fitted to my no prep drag racing car, simply wasn’t up to the job needed, something with a lot more functions, a lot more tweakability to use or achieve phase on there and this fitted the Bill it does not have a huge range, it does have four channels to it and they’re fairly easy to operate as i’ll show you on the radio. Однако, it doesn’t have a huge range it’s, a hundred meters so it’s, maybe not an ideal. Radio for speed runs, but on the other hand, if you use for saloon cars and bashers it’s great, because it’s got a 40 channel memory on air full digital display on the back. Все равно, let me show you the radio, which is rather good for the money link to it below the video so for channel radio in reality, what does that mean? Well we’ve got one channel for the throttle, obviously one channel for the steering. That means our third channel is this switch controller this switch up here and that fourth channel is this switch down here now you’ve got digital trim for channels, one and two and three and four under the transmitter there so it’s fully functional on there and it’s even Got them on the back of the transmitter.
Why would that be richie more on that in a second anyway let’s check out the transmitter, neat folding aerial, the one thing i would say it feels very, very solid, indeed, very sturdy feel to it. На самом деле, if you’re racing for hours on end, you might find it a little bit on the heavy side on there, but for bashing your it does have a feel you could drop this on the floor and it’s going to bounce off without a problem. We’Ve got our on off switch here. It’S got a programming mode on the left hand side, so you can program the transmitter with functions on there without any possibility of the car going flying off the side. Anything like that to get it in active mode. You slide the switch over to the other side. You unlock the leds change from red this side for programming to blue that side. Home key on here return key here, and this jog dial here will scroll up and down the features and select them using this button. As you will see in just a second but first of all what’s the deal with the buttons on the back of here and these four screws here, this transmitter can be used if you’re left handed or right handed now, i’m right handed, but i hold the transmitter, But i hold the transmitter in my left hand and stay with the right hand on there. What this enables you to do four screws on here and the four screws on the back.
Well that enables you to use a hex driver to remove these four remove the transmitter handle, disconnect this wire and very carefully reattach it on the other side. Now you will note at this point: you can actually adjust the position of the handle, so if you want it further out away from the hand grip, you can do you want it nearer in you can do it just that as well and just a couple of Minutes there i’ve converted it over to left hand operation very neat feature indeed for today’s demo purposes. I’Ve put it back to the conventional setting, but i’ve moved it up slightly to give my thumb a bit more clearance under the transmitter. Нво, in terms of these trim, tabs dt1 is the steering trim tab, so you can alter that on. The fly dt2 is for the throttle. Trim. Dt3 is just a spare default one, but dt4 is the dual rate trim by default and the transmitter features a low voltage alarm. So if the batteries are getting too low on the transmitter, it’s going to alert you to that fact, it’s also got a high speed mode as well as a normal operating mode. So if you have digital servos and you want them to operate at their best, you need to be switched into the high speed mode and whilst you can adjust the steering, you can also use this little screw here to adjust the amount of throttle travel.
You have so, if you like, a short throttle travel, you can unscrew this push. It back limit the travel on there from forwards to backwards on that, depending on your preference, Однако, not only can you adjust the reach of the trigger from adjustability on there. There is a tiny little screw under here and you can actually adjust the spring tension, so you can make so you can increase the tension or decrease the tension which i guess for the races out there amongst you, that’s going to be quite an impressive feature to Have okay, the pedal receiver with the transmitter? All you got to do turn the transmitter on turn the power to the receiver on and hold down. This set button for around about one second and the thing just pretty much pairs instantly and we’ve now got steering on that and a finally large amount of throttle ready dt1 on here. You can adjust the steering trim on the car and you can trim the throttle using this button d2 on here, so i’ve got that set up for drag car so i’m, just about ready to turn on the car for a hard launch. Now i did mention. It’S got two modes: a normal mode and a high speed mode. Хорошо, i’ve got a very nice power hobby digital servo in here, which i’ll put a link to below the video so to adjust that we go to the main menu scan down to system select system, move the receiver type and it’s in normal mode at the minute.
So we just scroll to that to high press high speed mode on there home to get back to the main menu again. So the radio is now set to operate that servo at high speed, which i figure if you’ve got to correct it fast when drag racing is going to be really good. So how do we drill down into the features? Хорошо, we press our home button here. First of all pulls up menu, we’ve got steering throttle primary advanced dull, sw model system and language let’s go through each of those. В свою очередь,. Steering we press this we’ve got the ability to change the steering jewel the steering exponential and the steering speed as an example on that steering chill right, set to move back out of any menu, simply press. This button here it’s quite intuitive scroll down press exponential, and you can change the exponential curve to suit your particular driving style on here once again, press back, you can control the steering speed so as the dual rate controls the like the amount of angle you get On the steering, if you’ve got the dual rate set very low, you may get that much steering you’ve got it set high you’ve got a lot of steering on here. The speed is the speed that the car actually steers over. Do you want it to steering really quickly or do you want it moving over fairly slowly on there, and likewise this return speed on here? Do you want it to snap back to the front, or do you want it to come back gradually on there? You can set both of those functions from this transmitter on the steering anyway throttle pretty much the same.
You can set the exponential curve. You can set the speed of reaction of the throttle on air so for drag racing i’m going to set that to high, because i want it to leak forwards. The minute i pull the throttle on here throttle acceleration. You can it’s almost like a form of tsm or avc on here. It supposedly can detect if the car’s got a wheel spin and help correct that on there. So that is what the throttle acceleration is, but i’ll try and test that outside in reality. Moving down to the primary function and in the primary menu you’ve got the ability to do things like reverse every single channel on there, whether you want them normal or not. You can trim each channel individually, and i would just say this: switch on the back is quite handy where you can program the transmitter without it visibly affecting anything on the car. But if you want to check the stem steering trim is working as an example. If you have it turned on, Затем, when you adjust the trim on here, it will actually move the front wheels on here digitally from the transmitter it’s supposed to using the buttons we have subtrim on here. That’S actually used for correcting the neutral point of the servo. On there new one on me, next, one down is atv, which actually gives you the ability to set the end points on both the steering and the throttle, as well as the other two spare channels.
Fs, probably one of the most important things on there it’s the fail safe operation for the transmitter on here, and this is when it goes out of range. But you need to be careful when setting these, because if you get it wrong, you could say have channel 2 set instead of being full break to full throttle. So you do need to maybe turn this off and see what happens to the car, see if it leaps forward or goes to a break. One idea would be to actually drive the car away from you and then turn the transmitter off and see what the car does, if that makes sense, probably the safest way to test it out rather than driving it out of range and then finally, it goes full Throttle into a wall and pos is where you can mix channels, three and four operation of which helps if you have got a one fifth scale or a one. Eighth scale, maybe saloon car eraser on that. Where you’ve got dual braking, where you maybe got a set of front brakes and a set of rear brakes, and you want to adjust the balance between the two that’s the function you use, Я считаю,, if you want to do that, split braking function on there. Наконец, it’s got a timer function on here that you can use, and you can even time your laps as well now switched into the advanced mode on here, predominantly because i want to show you a key feature.
The car has got abs, braking i’m going to put that on on the drag car, because what i’ve seen is a lot of people, racing drag cars and then they do well. They win and maybe come to the end of her and they nail the brakes and the car spins around or flips over after it’s done to run. Хорошо, Я думаю, with abs, she’ll still retain some control, with the braking on there and we’ve got various other modes that you can put on there like four wheel, steering esc mix, throttle mode, Др, Др, and this function called doll, sw i’m, not too sure what that One is model, Однако: we can set all of the diff. We can set 40 different model names on here, so we can switch between model 0 through to model ‘. Очевидно, 0 Кому ‘ есть 40 models on there. You can copy all of the model settings over on the transmitter, which i think will probably, which i think some people will find very handily name. You can change the name of the car so i’m going to do that in a second from a no prep drag car and the system function is where you can adjust things like the backlight, the battery warning, Др, Др. On here so but i’m not going to dive down into those today and lastly, you can change the language between chinese and english anyway time to set that abs let’s turn it on and the these these times here for the various like the pulsing of us, how Much the brakes going to be on the gap in between the brake coming on and you can even set whether you want it low mode, medium, medium or high, так что я, going to put it on me middle for the minute, and the display is pretty darn good.
On here you can see the lcd display moving over when i’m turning the wheel on there and i’m going to give it throttle. You can see that appearing as well. Хорошо, oh man, gon na, require a little bit of work and that steering trim needs some adjustment and i think i’m going to need to dull the jewelry down a bit because it is very, very lively indeed now i’ve also got the power, be speed meter on It so we’re going to put it in drag mode. Скорость, no idea put it in distance, go 132 feet which is classic drag one and press ready, see what we do on that anyway, see we’ll, get full throttle, launch let’s, see how we get on well. I think the abs brakes may need a little bit of work but it’s the first time we’re on it and the first time of this radio. Хорошо, full throttle. So for that launch not necessarily full throttle off the line, but wait it’s go oh and then whoa man well, the radio is very, very direct. Indeed. The steering is almost too vicious on air rolling full throttle. Нво, when you ease up it’s wanting to change ends about the best i’ve got it launched so far, но я, not convinced that i’m just brushed something well, the abs break in you can hear it kicking in there. But all the weight is at the back of the car, so while it’s uh working okay, it wants the switch ends under heavy braking. So the abs is going to be useful, but maybe not necessarily on this car okay 2.27 seconds on there for our maximum pull in 1.28 g on there 20 mile an hour top speed felt a little bit quicker than that, but uh well it’s a lot quicker Than that well quite pleased with the radio, if you look there, i’ve got some movement in the steering which i need to adjust on the car, but that’s not down to the radio but steering super strong on it, это, a very, very quick indeed, with that digital Setup on a throttle response instantaneous, so from my perspective, the wfl x4 radio ticks all the boxes in terms of monoprint drag racer just got ta get this set up now. So i hope you liked today’s review of the w flight x4 radio. It is not bad at all for the money yours for around about 75 Баксов, including that four channel receiver not too bad at all, for something that’s got abs on it and a 40 channel memory to boot without, besides all that adjustability, some of which is just Way over my head, но я, gradually learning to use more and more bits of it to my advantage and it’s definitely going to help in terms of things like the throttle acceleration throttle speed when it comes to being able to launch this drag car as hard.
