КАК ПРИПОЙ (RC Автомобиль Edition) | Инструменты, Методы, & Советы | Облилл RC Crash Курс
Money and frustration can also create a lot of frustration if you’re not doing it properly. So in this overkill, rc crash course i’m going to walk you guys through how i go about soldering by showing you the tools, you’ll need and some of the techniques that you can use to solder, some basic rc components all right. So when you’re soldering it’s very important to keep in mind that the tools you’re using could cause harm always be sure to wear a mask or a respirator to prevent you from breathing in those toxic fumes. Wear some safety glasses to prevent anything from getting in your eyes. You can also wear gloves if you don’t want to get burned with that said, you should also always have a clear workstation when you’re soldering to prevent anything from catching fire always be sure to go in a well ventilated area when you’re soldering, whether that’s in your Garage or outside you can even set up a fan to blow all the fumes away. Just a few things to keep in mind before we even get started now, i’m going to take you guys through the tools that are required in order for you to start soldering. So the first thing you’re going to need is obviously a soldering iron. Now you can spend as much money as you would like on a soldering setup, but you really could just get by with the inexpensive soldering irons got this one it’s a 40 watt weller soldering iron.
I think i picked it up for 20 dollars came with a few tips, and even some solder to get you going. They work just fine, they get the job done, especially if you’re only going to be soldering once every couple months. Like i do i mean this: is all you need now, the higher end soldering stations are nice for heating stuff up faster, Конечно, adjusting the temperature. You can turn it down a little bit to solder some smaller items being able to crank up the temperatures. A little bit also comes in handy when you’re using lead free solder, which requires a higher temperature in order to melt it. So really quick here, the tip you’re going to want to use for pretty much every rc application is this chisel tip. It looks kind of like a small flathead screwdriver has the flat portions that has a little bit more surface area, so you can use that to heat up your wires. Corners are nice for soldering some smaller items, but for that most people just switch out the tip for one that comes directly to a point now, depending on the soldering iron that you end up going with, you may or may not need a soldering iron stand. This is just to keep the soldering iron tip, elevated, just so it’s not resting on your work surface. Then you also will need a sponge again. This may or may not come with your soldering station, but you can just pick up a pack but you’re going to want a wet sponge in order to clean off the tip of your soldering iron you’re, also going to need some solder, typically you’re, going to want A rosin core solder: this is just a lot easier to work with it feeds into the wire really nice, and it should eliminate the need for a soldering flux.
The flux is just the liquid that you put onto the wire that you’re soldering. Then it just helps soak in the solder makes it super even and easy to work with. I still use this anyway, even though i really don’t need to doesn’t hurt just makes things easier. Teh 60 40 solder is what you’re going to want. Typically something smaller. You want it thinner, just because it’s easier to feed in and regulate. You do have to keep in mind, Хотя, that this solder has lead in it and most solders do there is lead free solder, available it’s just harder to work with, and it requires a higher temperature in order to melt it now, you’re going to need something to Cut through the wires that you’re working with that could be anything from side cutters or wire cutters. You can also use pretty much any kind of scissors. I prefer to use lexan scissors just because that works well. Для меня, you could also use a hobby knife. The last main thing you’ll need in order to solder, is some heat shrink tubing. So i just get mine in this nice little box. I think i purchased it on ebay or something like that. Just opens up and you have a bunch of different sizes of heat shrink tubing. I suppose you can also use electrical tape, but i wouldn’t really recommend that now we’re getting into the optional tools that you can use to make your soldering experience more enjoyable overall.
One of those tools is a soldering jig. This is one from intege, just a clamp that has a bunch of different bullet connector holes on the sides even has the measurements on the ends and then has the main connector styles in the center. Another popular tool are these helping hands. These are just little clips that just clamp onto your wires or plugs. You can position them, Однако, you’d like, and they work out really well too a cheap way of doing. It is to just use some needle nose, pliers or really any pliers and just put a rubber band around the handle, and then it just keeps some tension to clamp down whatever wire you have pinched. In now, an extra set of pliers is really useful for holding the wire just so you don’t get burned another tool that makes this process easier is a lighter or a heat gun just to heat up your heat shrink tubing. Some people also use the side of their soldering iron, which works fairly well takes a little bit more time, but you still technically could do it all right. So once you have your soldering iron, all heated up and your tools and supplies are laid out and ready to go. We can finally begin soldering you’re going to want to make sure that the tip of your wire is either horizontal to your work surface or slightly pointed down. If you have the end of the wire pointed up as you’re feeding in solder, the solder is actually going to go into the wire and stiffen up a portion of it.
You’Re going to have a kink at the end of that stiff portion as the wire tries to bend and it’s, eventually going to break prematurely all right. So first you’re going to want to start out by stripping the insulation off of the wire that you’re going to be soldering. So what i do is actually grab some lexan scissors. Конечно, you can use any scissors and, like i mentioned earlier, a hobby knife or even some wire cutters, so now we’re going to want to pre tin our wire. This is basically just adding solder before you solder, your two items together: Я. Going to add some flux, just because that’s, typically what i’ll use – and you always want to remember before and after you use your soldering iron you’re, going to want to make sure it’s clean and then i’m just going to take some solder feed it onto the end Of my soldering iron tip touch the tip of the soldering iron to the wire and then start feeding into the iron and then, as the wire heats up and the solder starts to get into it a little bit more. You can start feeding the solder into the wire rather than the soldering iron. I just like to add as much as i possibly can this kind of wipes them off and then you should be ready to go so now. I can work on tinning my plug that i’m going to be soldering this wire to and then with the plug i’m going to pretty much do the same exact thing: just clean the tip of my soldering iron feed, some fresh solder into the tip of the iron, But then, with a plug, usually i just touch the tip of the soldering iron, with some solder on it to the plug tab and that’s.
Pretty much all you need to do before we solder the wire to the plug. You want to make sure that you put some heat shrink on the end of it. Once you get the plug on there, you’re not going to be able to slip some heat shrink on there, so that’s a crucial step that i always personally forget and then slide it down the wire. As far as you possibly can i’m just going to line the wire up to the tab that i’m going to be soldering to grab my iron and then once again clean it off. Take some solder feed it into the tip. Then just hold the iron down on the end of the wire and just heat, the solder up, just enough to where it melts both the solder on the wire and the solder on the plug. Now that we have the wire soldered to the plug, you can just bring up the heat shrink quickly. Just take a lighter or your heat gun and that’s pretty much it just to ensure that it’s, a strong, soldering joint, give it some tension just to see. If it’s going to break off, you got to make sure that your soldering joints are shiny if they’re, cloudy or dull at all, probably not going to hold up long. You want to make sure to hold the iron to your soldering joint for as little time as possible. These little metal tabs within the plastic housing of the plug can actually start to heat up and melt the plastic, and then the tabs will either move or pull out completely so to try and prevent that you can actually just get another plug.
Just a spare plug. You have lying around not connected to anything. Конечно. Have it be the opposite of the plug that you’re soldering and just plug it right in if you plug it in the tabs will kind of hold each other in place, even though the plastic heats up? That will definitely help you out a little bit if you’re having that issue. Нво, when you’re soldering batteries, there are a few extra precautions that you should take when you’re going to change the plug and cutting through the wires to get the old one off you don’t want to go through both wires at the same time that could cause the Wires to arc that could be very dangerous because it completes the circuit. You just want to do one wire at a time, so just cut this one off and get the other side as far away as you possibly can. You can just take a rubber band and wrap the plug around the battery. You can just put some heat shrink or some tape over the other connection. So now you can go through pretty much. Do the exact same steps until we need to solder the other wire. All right so now that we have the wire that we already soldered covered up in the heat shrink. Shouldn’T have to worry about it, touching the next wire that we’re going to be soldering. If you aren’t able to cover it up with heat shrink yet or with some plugs, you have this cover.
Like the xt 90s, you can just put some tape around the other connection, so you’re not accidentally hitting it Music. Now we have our new female dean’s plug soldered on to our battery. The last thing i want to walk you guys through here quick, is how to solder bullet connectors. You can see i soldered this one on sideways it’s, pretty much just like a another plug i’m going to unsolder this and show you guys how to solder it back up on each bullet. Connector, typically they’re going to have a hole on the side of the barrel that the wire goes into. So you can see in this case since it’s a used bullet connector. It has solder bulging out the side of it and it’s completely filled up with solder. But if you have a brand new bullet connector, you just put it in your jig. You can also use a vise that works fine with these, then for your bullet connector you’re, just going to take a clean, soldering iron hold the very corner or the tip of that soldering iron into the hole that i mentioned, that’s on the bullet and then you’re. Just gon na feed solder through the main hole of the bullet connector, once you’re done, feeding solder into the bullet, connector, really quick, you’re gon na hold the soldering iron still to the bullet connector, because we don’t want that solder inside to harden then you’re going to Grab your wire that is pre tinned and then just take the wire and slowly insert it into the bullet connector.
Once again, you can pull on the connector just to see if it’s going to stay on there cut some heat shrink slip it over the top, usually on the male connectors there’s. Just a little lip that you’re going to want to push the heat shrink to, but on the female bullet connectors you’re going to want to cover the bullet up entirely because that’s what’s going to be actually slipping over the male portion.
