I decided i’d make a quick little video to talk just a second about what i have learned about differential fluids now i’m not going to get into what fluid to use under what condition um we could go. We could talk about that from now the end of time. I just want to talk to you just a little bit about the products that i have found and what works for me and again, we’re talking about differential, fluid and we’re talking about what goes inside. The differential this is a center differential off a red cat shredder, but we’re talking about what goes inside here that controls the viscosity from one end to the other of this differential and how much power is transferred from one end to the other in this differential. So i just want to talk to you a little bit about what i found of course, my first experience differential fluids with team associated fluids. They have good products, i use all kinds of their products from the stuff i put in my shocks to differential fluids, and this is a 100k differential fluid. This is this is a fluid that i i personally like to put in my front differentials uh. It gives good viscosity, but at the same time it still allows quite a bit of movement from one side to the other. Нво, if i turn this on its side, you can see that this stuff flows pretty quickly it’s already moved it’s about the consistency of maple syrup, but i found that this just wasn’t enough.
It wasn’t enough for rear differentials and it’s, certainly not enough for a center differential center differentials, need higher viscosity fluids, and so i set out to look for that and i wanted to show you what i found that’s, not knocking these team associated lucas oil. This is a lucas oil put out by team associated factory team associated. This is a great product, это, just not designed to be thick enough for a center or rear differential. So that set me off looking and and everything else i found almost and we’ll talk about that is from our good friends at traxxas, which is interesting because i don’t own a traxxas, but traxxas has great products. I buy a lot of tracks of stuff, but i just don’t own the traxxas, which is ironic. I tend to be an arma guy, but that’s that’s for another video, and this is their first product. Это, this is a traxxas part number, although it’s interesting traxxas never puts their name on their products, it’s got their part number on it, but this is. This is a traxxas product and this is half a million weight differential, fluid and now this stuff flows but it’s thick um. This is about the consistency of toothpaste. You know when you, when you squirt it out of the bottle it comes out about like toothpaste, это. It comes out like a little log it it comes out fairly easily, но это. It is thick um.
Это. This is really good stuff, it’s easy to put in your diff it. It flows enough that you can just put some in and let it settle put something in and let it settle it just flows right in there. I still like to use this in front differentials um. I will run it in rear differentials, but i still like this i’m not afraid to put this in a front differential, but it also works well in rear differentials, especially you know a good, a good differential. It works well, but it’s not enough for a center differential. So you still start looking and what did i find? One million weight um fluid again. This is from our good friends at traxxas. They don’t put their name on this is all it says: it comes in this little tub and this still flows but buddy. This stuff is thick um it’s. This is good stuff. This is my fluid of choice for a rear differential. You can see it still flows, but man it is thick, but this is. This is thick stuff um. You can see when i put my wrench in there. This is this is thick stuff this. This does a wonderful job in rear differentials, and it is also starting to get thick enough for a center differential application um. This works well in the shredder center differential um. It moves the power pretty equally between the front and the rear um. You know a lot of people like to use your wax earplugs and stuff, but those things, crumble and fall apart.
This silicone never does it’s that it maintains its its consistency and texture, and this came to us from uh. I i take no sponsors on this channel. This came to us from the good friends of sportszone toys and comics that’s, where i found this at through ebay. So i’m gon na set that aside this stuff stuff’s amazing, but you know something it’s, just not thick enough for high powered center differentials and – and you know what our friends at traxxas know that, and they made 20 million weight. This is one million weight. Это 20 million weight and you saw uh. This stuff does flow, but let me tell you something: this ain’t, even sticky, anymore um. This is about the consistency of those wax earplugs people use, but it maintains its integrity, it doesn’t crumble and fall apart. Это 20 million weight. This is actually what traxxas puts in their x, max’s or whatever that big 8 s thing. This comes factory in the center differential, so shredder fans take note that’s what’s wrong with your center differentials. It doesn’t have something like this in it tracks his nose better, so they don’t ship them with just a little grease in them. They ship them with this stuff, in them at least that’s. What i’ve been told but that’s. What this is is. This is the standard part number i don’t want any traxxas, so i don’t know but that’s 20 million weight it’s part number 50.
40. 20 million weight traxxas center differential diff fluid, but there is one more level we can go to, and that is what i like to call uh one billion weight and that is had been my solution with the redcat shredder and that is jb weld. You mix up a little bit of jb weld and you fill up the center differential with it and what that gives. You is a fully locked center differential and i love it. I like the equal transfer of power from front to rear. I like no shredded diffs, so i actually run this in the redcat shredder jb weld in the center differential and in the rear differential. The center and rear differential adjusting direct cut. Shredder is hard locked with jb. Well so that’s the that’s one end of the scale to the other. мы, Знаешь: 100, 000, half a million 1 Миллионов 20 Миллионов. And again this is what traxxas puts in center differentials. They figured it out. Redcat has not figured it out and then the one billion which is really just liquid metal. This stuff sets up like aluminum um, and it makes it a hard, lock center differential. Thank you for watching here at rc engineering and come back and um join us again.
