As you guys know, this is the company’s best selling sedan and we’ve never seen an all wheel, drive version of the es here in america. So if you guys are looking to purchase this luxury, sedan is the 250 all wheel drive model the one you’re going to want to get stay tuned to find out Music. Нво, Конечно, before the snow starts piling up, we’re expecting to get around six to nine inches today, есть, probably a good two to three inches on the ground right now. Let me first show you guys what’s powering the or this es250 underneath the hood. Нво, unlike a camry, which gives you a which you have to deal with a prop rug, the es actually gives you hood struts, so you don’t actually have to use a prop rod to keep the hood open, and this is the model again. We haven’t seen an es250 for over 30 Лет, which used to come with a two and a half liter v6. This also has a two and a half liter engine. Однако, as you can see under the hood, this is not a v6. This is the same two and a half liter dynamic force, four cylinder engine that we find in the camry and the avalon and the rav4 in the es. It makes the same 203 horsepower and 184 pound feet of torque, as you guys are probably noticing that’s a reduction of nearly 100 horsepower over the v6 version of this car 100 horsepower and torque is also down around 80 pound feet.

Regular gas is the required gas, so you don’t have to actually put premium, but you don’t really have to do that in the v6 either. It comes standard, Конечно, with an 8 speed automatic transmission, that is a toyota and lexus designed transmission and the all wheel, drive system, toyota, says or lexus says, has the ability to send up to 50 of the power to the rear. Итак, еще раз, it provides a 50 50 torque split, no torque vectoring like what you get in the rav4, which has a slightly different tune to the all wheel, drive system uh. This vehicle here, как я уже сказал, is heavier than the v6 by actually about a hundred pounds. As it sits, it weighs in at around 3 700 pounds and lexus says you should get to 60 in around 8.6 seconds now i want to briefly talk about the exterior styling differences with the es. This is probably the easiest part of my job, because there are literally no exterior styling changes aside from a little subtle badge. Change at the back now, just like the es 350 ilex’s, actually offers it with the f sport sport appearance package, which is kind of silly, because this is again a much slower vehicle.

You can also take your pick between the luxury and the ultra luxury model. The f sport version, Конечно, gives you its own unique uh grill with the intricate l’s that kind of resembles a mesh finish along with the dark chrome. The this this particular one here has the premium triple beam, led headlights for 1500 uh which again make the car look a little bit more modern and also brightens up the actual look at night when you’re driving this vehicle. But as you can see, uh styling changes are null. There are none for 2021.. The camera got a slightly refreshed for 2021, but not the es you can see. These are the wheels that come standard with the f sport model. Они, a 235 width, r19 or 19 дюймовый обода. I like the wheel, design they’re one of my favorites. You can see the car comes with michelin, primacy, mx4. All season tires which i’ll be putting these tires to the test out in these snowy conditions, but at 196 inches long. This is a three inches longer than a camry it’s about the same size as a toyota. Avalon remember this rides on the tnga platform and then here at the rear, you can see uh it’s covered with a little bit of snow, but it’s got the full led tail lights. You got this rear spoiler here, есть, an f sport badge and then right here you can see. This is your only indication that you’re driving, Конечно, an all wheel, drive es where it says 250 all wheel drive which again it comes standard, no visible exhaust tips.

Снова, the v6 model, Я считаю,, gives you like a dual outlet exhaust and then, if you open up the trunk, the actual release is somewhere over here. Lexus puts it off to the side. My tester has the power opening and closing trunk, but the trunk capacity was reduced a little bit for the all wheel, drive model from 16.7 cubic feet down to around 14 cubic feet because again, the all wheel drive system does take up some space. This is the same interior that you’re going to find in every f sport model of the yes, you can see my exterior color is matador. Red it’s got the black leather interior. This is your only color option if you guys want the red exterior color, but you can see looking at the cabin at a glance. This is a really nice place to spend time and unlike a camry or an avalon, you get a very large 12 inch display there. But let me first start the car up the button to fire up the engine is over here. You can hear right away you that four cylinder drone makes itself very present, which again makes it takes away from the luxury experience of this car. When i shut the door, it has a relatively solid sounding thunk sounds just like a camry and an avalon of course, and this cabin um is still a very nice place.

To spend time i mean i, like the f sport seats with the f sport branding they’re. Very you know deeply. Bolstered lots of you know comfortable soft leather that you get on this model. The seats themselves are heated and cooled they adjust in 12 different ways. The seats themselves are very good they’re. A really nice highlight of the cabin the 12 inch display. Also looks nice. К сожалению, this is still the lexus inform system where this is not a touch screen not like on the new lexus rx. You have to still use the touchpad here, which is very frustrating to use. At least it has apple, carplay and android auto. It is not wireless, although so you can see here i’m trying to get to carplay and it’s not going over there, but once you pull up the carplay, it is very, very large. It looks good. The resolution is great. Итак, еще раз, this is good. It just needs to be pushed out closer to the actual dash to give us um a touch screen function which would make it considerably better, better the door panel. You can see soft touch, you have the same stitching and leather material on the door panels. Padded right here. Конечно, window switches feel pretty high quality. It pretty much rivals some of the higher end, burmester bowers and wilkins, and bing and olfson systems i’ve tested the steering wheel itself is a power tilt and telescoping, which is nice, Не, get that on a camry, but you can get that on avalon.

You also have three person memory seats. You can’t get that on a camry as well, and i also like the aluminum trim that you get with the f sport package. Конечно, the gauges these are unique to the f sport uh. The gauges themselves are full digital, but they are looking a little bit small. Like i said before, you can push this button here. You can see the gauge display. Actually moves flip it over to sport. You can see it turns. The tack white gives us a very lexus lfa inspired gauges. This in general just needs to be redesigned because it is pretty old this over here, you can see dual zone climate control, lots of hard buttons, uh hard buttons. Конечно, for your audio, there is a tuning knob for volume or tuning knob, and a volume knob which are kind of combined together in this little one knob, which is nice, heated and cooled seats. My tester has the power rear sunshade, which is nice, and i also have the heads up display, which is nice, so this is pretty fully loaded, which is really nice to see. You have a traditional shifter, Конечно, for the eight speed auto and then, when you put into reverse no a 360 camera lexus doesn’t offer that, on this model of the es for some reason, uh two cupholders over here there’s also a nice little dual. Like stage level cup holders nice area to rest your hand here and then, if you open this up, you can see my tester has the 75 optional wireless phone charger, which should be standard and a pretty good amount of storage over there.

И потом, when you open up the glove compartment here, you can see it is damped it’s pretty deep, but it’s uh, not quite as large as i thought it would be, and then above me you can see just a regular sunroof lexus did put some led lighting In here, which is nice, no paint, no roof is available on the es and i’m not going to get into the back seat, but the back seat, как вы можете видеть, is pretty similar to the last avalon at ‘ Дюймов. Much it’s still a pretty nice place to spend time still has an infuriating infotainment system, but at least it is very comfortable and very spacious in here. , so a little over 30 years around 32 years or 31 years to be exact and of course i was pretty disappointed with the four cylinder engine. I mean this is the same: powertrain that’s in the toyota rav4, the toyota camry, the toyota avalon and it’s, a four cylinder. Naturally aspirated engine it’s not really going to win any drag. Races, Конечно, and lexus has always been known for offering just the type of smoothness that you associate they’re buttery, smooths, То есть, that’s kind of the point of a lexus um, but we’ll talk about the powertrain, двигатель, just a second. I want to test the all wheel, drive system, which lexus says, will appropriate 50 of the torque front and rear. This is on the stock, michelin premises. All season tires as well. You can feel it’s starting to slip, and this is all, Конечно, going to be traction limited. But i do want to test out the all wheel drive system which does a good job of sending the power front and rear trying to get the car going again and it’s really nice to have the sure footed confidence of all wheel drive in the es. Наконец, although they should have paired it with the v6 engine, this four cylinder Music – it just – is a little drony it’s, a little like noisy sounding it’s, not befitting of a lexus at all. Нво, Конечно, lexus has tried to make it a little bit more refined, they’ve added, more sound deadening materials when it upper reaches.

You can hear the groan and the drone and the grittiness of that four cylinder, and it is not not it. Doesn’T belong in a lexus, so you know if you guys, want all wheel drive in your es. This is certainly obviously a new tempting option, but i’d probably just say, look at one of their suvs or even look at an is because the is is offered with two v6s with all wheel drive and no it’s, not as roomy as this car um. It is arguably the more lexus like experience, because this powertrain just doesn’t, do it for me now, как вы можете видеть, the road is totally covered with at least a couple inches of snow. I want to try out the all wheel, drive system again, we’ll just try another acceleration. I’Ll leave all the nannies on. This car would do so much better if it had a set of winter tires on it, but lexus delivered the car with the factory, michelin. You know a new foot, a new level of surefooted confidence, confidence that you get with this all wheel, drive system, so it’s nice to see lexus is offering it they’re. I am getting some looks as people are like: why is this person in a family sedan just driving around which it’s not really a family city? This is supposed to be a luxury sedan, but in terms of the ride quality, this is the f sport model, which means it has the adaptive dampers. Знаешь, it’s very smooth. The ride remains really smooth. Now there is the interlock brakes working there, but thank god for antilock brakes, because it allows you to keep steering control of the car uh in slippery conditions. Visibility of the es, Конечно, still remains. Хорошо, you have the lexus safety systems 2.0, which is standard equipment on every model, but other than that. The es is still a nice driving sedan it’s. Just when you go near the throttle that’s, where you’re really going to feel the lack of additional power and the noisiness of the four cylinder now in fuel economy, this is probably where a lot of you are like.

Oh well, the es is going to get better gas mileage this year, yes it’s rated at 25 in the city 34 on the highway, which is the same as the camry and avalon with all wheel drive in my weeks for the testing i got around 22 in The city, it will easily do over 30 on the highway, which is not that much better than the v6, because the all wheel drive system does add weight. It adds around 200 pounds more weight to the vehicle, which does, Конечно, hurt the fuel economy and continues to hurt the acceleration, which is why we’re around a second and a half to two seconds slower zero to sixty for this car. But thankfully the seats are still comfortable, Я, они, heated and cooled um lexus does not offer a massaging seat. You have to go to their flagship ls to get that. Конечно, i want to test out the analog brakes here. Foot is to the floor right now and you can hear the abs is working but it’s, not quite as noisy as it could be. So pretty good better tires would allow this vehicle to stop a lot shorter, Музыка, but overall, a very pleasant drive, a sure footed. All wheel, drive system with better tires would be great, with a v6 it’d be even better, but really, if you guys want an all wheel, drive lexus sedan. I probably say skip this unless you truly don’t care about acceleration and go with the is the is the better option or even the ls, if you can afford the price, but the is remember, is around the same price as this car, because at 52 grand this Is a very expensive proposition for a car that is super slow, это, one of the slowest luxury sedans you can buy that’s new today so, как вы можете видеть, with the snow continuing to pile on today after spending the day driving the es250 here out in these Snowy conditions, i am pretty impressed with the all wheel drive system.

This car really is just a set of winter tires away from being an absolute snow beast, because the ologist drive system is just that good. Действительно. My problem with the es250 all wheel drive is the engine i think lexus really cheaped out by putting the naturally aspirated engine from the camry and the rav4 in this vehicle. It deserves a turbocharged engine. Really they’ve got the nx200 or 300, which has the 2 liter turbo that’s. The motors that should have made its way into this vehicle, but for some reason, lexus decided to cut corners and they basically just gave us uh took the easy route by giving us this. Four cylinder, which was an easy transplant, Конечно, into this bottle because it’s based off the camry and avalon platform, now speaking of which, if you guys do, want an es and you want all wheel drive, you have to have all wheel drive because you live in These types of conditions um this car actually is the same price as the v6 model. They start at forty thousand dollars. The f sport package adds around six thousand bucks. It gives you you know the adapted adaptive dampers the wheels, the body kit, the interior upgrades, like the heated and cooled seats. My tester here with the red color the premium triple beam headlights, the navigation and mark levinson sound system stickers for a little over 52 700 Баксов, which again ridiculous amount of money. This car is around eight thousand dollars more expensive than a camry and around five thousand dollars more expensive than a toyota avalon with all wheel drive, but keep in mind again um.

I would probably just go with the v6 and just give up the all wheel drive system, but if you guys really want an all wheel, drive lexus go for one of their suvs or go for an is 300 or an is 350, which again has the powertrain.
