This is one of the most collectible traxxas e maxes that you can buy back when they originally had the two speed. Это правильно, you could yell two speed baby more about that later. It really is more or less a high and low transmission gear ratio and back when they had two motors Laughter. The traxxas emax gives you all the power and speed of nitro with the quiet convenience of electric, but the power comes from twin titan, 550 fan pooled electric motors and dual six or seven cell battery packs. The battery packs are connected in series for up to 16.8 volts of high powered excitement. It is not in the car right now, it’s running a more modern brushless system and i’ll show you just how bad that system is in a little bit as well.

They could run to win seven cell packs in these things. Now this is the motor system. It came with it’s currently in the car. This is like a hobby wing easy run system, one of the early ones. If you open up stuff, fell out sorry about that, they came with well the system’s in the car we have the programming card. I did have to use this pretty cool. I don’t know if you guys, uh have ever seen something like this, but if you haven’t done a lot of electrics, especially vintage type electrics like years ago, you wouldn’t know what a programming card is and, of course i picked up myself a little bit of a Chinese food – this is chicken and broccoli, and some fried rice baby. Let me show you under the body damn these body clips are hardcore original traxxas, emax body the same as the t max they used. Here we go so this one in particular, has a whole bunch of pointless aluminum upgrades years ago. This is what people did. They spent a whole bunch of money on aluminum upgrades from china, and then they were terrible. I had to bend some of these pieces out before it’s pretty stressful, so when this piece takes a tumble, uh tumble wumble right it generally bends. Unlike plastic, you don’t want to have that, so this is the motor system that we got going on. It is basically trash it’s, a tiny 550 size motor that is hardwired, meaning soldered to the esc. Here this is what people used to do years ago. You know back in the days of electric rcs when you used to have to run brushed motors. You wanted to have the shortest possible wire length possible and they used to just solder stuff. Even on these brushless motors today, you would have these bullet connectors or some kind of other connectors, this pathetic esc, it’s rated for 3s, but it’s only a 60 amp unit. This is a fairly heavy rc. Look at all this aluminum! I have on it. Oh hit myself in the head with antenna. Oh that hurt a little bit now. Normally you would be running dual packs uh on each side here which this chassis.
Я думаю, honestly, pioneered years ago now for today, we’re only going to be running a 2s lipo. I couldn’t even fit a larger one in here, because it stuff just doesn’t fit here. This was designed for regular six cell packs or if you went with a hump pack, you would get a special battery tray adapter or the configuration of your battery would be significantly different. We’Re going to run this now, but you’ll see the plans that i have in place for this. I really just wanted to demonstrate what the performance on something like this could be with a two speed. Yep, you see this uh servo right here. This is the two speed baby, so i can actually yell two speed baby with an electric. I don’t think anyone else currently uh with a monster truck could actually say that, eventually we will stick a normal brushless system in this thing and it will be a damn beast, what’s, so great about these old school e maxes other than the two speed baby right. This is the wide max version and the guy you know the previous owner i don’t mean me – spent a whole bunch of money on useless upgrades, but really these things always had an achilles heel, and that was the differential. When i initially got this, the rear diff was fully stripped.
I wound up having to buy a brand new diff from a part um. I guess you could say parts, breaker, retail or whatever merchandiser jenny’s rc. The diff was pretty inexpensive. Stuck this thing in here and it’s good to go time to eat some chinese and go to the track. All this talking, i haven’t even eaten anything that chicken broccoli i like this dish. The reason is it’s not really high in sodium. It has a good amount of fiber from the broccoli and a good amount of protein from the chicken. Clearly right man. This thing is fresh. I know the nitro gang that’s uh max and helsin they’re gon na come to staten island soon and we’re gon na throw down some rc’s last time they came. They went and got chinese from this exact same place that i’m eating mine from and they loved it. This does not engage based on any kind of centrifugal or centripetal force of an internal clutch. It is what they call a shift on the fly and shift on the fly means your thumb. Do this only going to accelerate a little bit because uh i’m only alone here right now, no one’s holding this thing down and it’s gon na vibrate over the bench it’s gon na accelerate. I could shift at any time second gear baby. You see what i’m talking about it was fairly obvious and easy to shift meaning you can shift this thing on the fly. Baby two speed, that’s right, Хорошо, Ребята, Я, going to do a run here. Just uh watch the car here. This is my radio right. It’S a huge damn antenna, but that’s what it is these old am systems are actually fairly reliable. Hopefully you could see the shift servo here that i’m pointing to this is first gear. This is second rather high low, so this is low. This is high. Хорошо, we’re gon na start off in first gear; Аплодисменты; Музыка, great, Сооо, Эй, not bad baby, not bad Music, we’re gon na top out in first gear.
Second baby: did you see those tires? They scared me that was some crazy Music Applause, ballooning, Музыка, we’re gon na start out in first gear, then we’re gon na hit second second, oh my gosh. The tire was like a pancake. Thank god. I didn’t blow off the rim now that’s what you call a two speed: baby we’re in first gear now, Музыка. Now oh thing is pretty fast actually for a vintage electric system back to first, so the punch is set for it not to wheelie. So don’t think that the system is not strong enough. This is all first gear. Let me show you guys what it looks like in first gear, it’s still fast enough for a 2s, you know we’re running just a 2s in this thing. Второй, gear noticeable difference back to first gear that’s. What gearing is all about baby? Oh and we hit thermal cut off so it’s, basically a matter of time. I wanted to see how long it would actually take before we hit thermal cut off these old systems. They’Re not really rated for running modern lipos like this. If i touch it – О, my god, жарко, О, my god, can’t even fully touch you how about the motor the motor is actually just normal. You know i would say that it’s, this really terrible weak. I could see it’s flashing right here, so that’s a sign that it went into thermal cut off. If i shut this down for a few minutes start it back up, it’ll be just fine.
This is what running an old system that is not designed for such a big heavy truck like this that’s what’s gon na happen guys so, but back in the day, these systems for, Как 10 Масштаб, electric touring cars, were fantastic as it turns out. I have a second system brand new. I wanted to show you guys what it would look like opening up. One of these easy run systems. It says version 2, usb supported, Esc, Хорошо, колодец, То есть, pretty much meaningless. 1 10 И 1 12 scale let’s open it up. It is brand new, never run. I got it with this emac when i first bought it. So this is what it would look like. The programming card, the esc, the motor we’ll talk about in a second but notice the tamiya connector that’s right today. You will never find an esc with this tamiya style connector. These tend to melt with anything over about a 2s lipo. Конечно, they cannot deliver very high current interesting to see a brushless esc that is 2 to 3s lipo compatible running a basic tamiya style plug the motor itself. Это 540 size can but notice all of the ribs on it. These are used for cooling, but mostly this is kind of like a scam motor. So what they would do is they would market you a 540 size motor right. It will bolt up into your standard 540 size location on any rc, but in reality this was more or less a 380 size motor because inside obviously the cooling fins there, you could see straight through them, the magnet all the stuff that needs to happen for a Brushless motor to work, they are smaller than a regular 540 размер двигателя.

This is the remote it’s, an old style remote. We have steering right, i can’t see it either way we have steering so right, servo actuator, steering oh cool. We have forward reverse that’s uh, technically the battery. Oh no, the battery in this case is this. This is a brushless motor right, but it’s a it’s, an older generation system but it’s still very reliable, um and that’s older. What do you say? That’S that’s these cars like the remote control, Хобби, yeah it’s. You see the sticker right, the brand is traxxas okay, they sell a lot of rcs today that are electric and nitro that are highly competitive and good.
