You got ta, stop! Хорошо! You got ta stop. I think i’ve shown this to you guys in the past, but my uh super bootleg setup for a um studio shot. I have to take over my dining room table so that i can get back when i take the shot. This is the only place in my house that i can step back like across the room and then shoot in with my 70 Кому 200 lens. So i can get that nice compressed. Посмотрите. I apologize in advance if um my dog’s just gon na pant throughout this entire video. I just took him for a run, so uh he’s, tired, jumping into today’s video. I don’t really know what to call this topic. Making your rc car look cool kit versus pro kit setup versus custom setup. I don’t know whatever makes sense to you. You’Ll get the idea, but just finished up taking some photos of this brand new raw speed body looks super sick i’ll go ahead and slap a few of my favorites up here on the screen Music. Looking good, if you’ve been following me on social media for a while, you guys know that i paint my own bodies and i like to do this stuff myself. But i know that not everybody does that. Сооо, as i kind of look into that – and i think about what that means for some of you, that means that doing something like this might be a little bit more expensive or not as easy to do so.
Let’S talk a little bit about that and some options that you may have so, in my humble opinion, the first thing about a paint scheme that’s going to help it consistently stand out as your own is going to be a primary color set. Сооо, Для меня, i kind of went with a trio of colors, so we’ve got the bright red in the back. We have a kind of accent or a contrasting color, with the silver and the black edging and then up front. We have a lighter uh kind of set of colors you’ve got the darker kind of like statement color and then you’ve got your light. Color in the front, много раз, i’ll see bodies where people just kind of pick a ton of different colors, and i can kind of tell that they didn’t really ever look at like a color wheel or understand the concept of contrasting colors or complementary colors. Есть, a link down below with actually a really cool fun tool that you can use if you have no idea what i’m talking about, and it might help you understand that stuff. But looking at my body here, we have our colors that we’re gon na stick with. We have our design, obviously you guys may or may not have a set design, but mine is pretty simple. You’Ve got some sort of design in the front in this case flames it could be water drops, it could be a lot of different things.
That’S set against kind of like a background, if you will, with like some texture to it, you’ve got like the little black splatters in there so kind of add some some detail there in the paint scheme, and then we have our edging around the colors there. That kind of sets it apart as a like a pro kind of paint scheme, i think that it kind of accents your ability to do things with a fineness or a detail. I think that that’s something that is a mark of a pro looking or a custom. Looking paint scheme rather than there be no edging at all and it’d just be two colors against each other. When you add in that edge line it kind of separates, it makes it look kind of fun. Сооо, just to recap that real quick we’ve got our set design, whatever that’s going to be we’ve edged. Some of those features we’ve found a place to add kind of like a texture or a detail. Um you could do that with a stencil paint splatter. Что-нибудь подобное, we have our edging the shadows around the edges. Там, it’s kind of like another pro or custom paint scheme attribute, and then we have our primary colors, like i had mentioned, use that tool down below. Так что таким образом,, you can kind of use something that’s, contrasting or complementary, and not a bunch of random colors that don’t make sense. Do whatever you want at the end of the day, it’s your paint scheme, your colors, but just to help you guys out understand that there are things out there in the world as far as colors that make sense.
Moving on to the sticker side of things, we can see that we have all of my sponsors now. This is kind of if you want to put stickers on there and your sponsors go for it. You don’t have to if you’re sponsored, obviously it’s going to be a little bit different like i am so i have all my sponsors here and they have some complimentary colors of my paint scheme, which is kind of cool, so we’ve got the fluorescent yellow in the Middle it’s edged in black, and then it has this kind of chrome red around the edge of it, which is obviously kind of a cool uh complement to the bright red of the paint scheme. So this is kind of what you would expect to see on a lot of pro racer bodies or people that want that factory. Look now let’s, look at something that kind of threw all of that out the window and goes more along the lines with. Maybe a kit or a standard ish deal that body over there painted by myself um stickers done by stick it one racing and those are kind of like the two fundamentals. I think when it comes to looking for a pro setup or a pro looking body, but i kind of like some of the bodies that we used to see in yesteryear that they didn’t have the custom stickers and they were very simple. Like solid color schemes and stuff like that, so i actually painted up a couple bodies for my two wheel and my four wheel with that concept in mind and let’s.
Take a look at them and see what you guys think here. This we’ll get a close up of it in a second, is the kit body with solid colors and kit stickers. So let’s take a look. You guys may have seen this paint scheme already, because it’s very, very similar, pretty much except minus one color here in the stripes as a short horse body, i did a little while ago, i’ll throw a picture up, so you remember what that one was so this One i can’t take complete credit for it. It is a troy lee designs, inspired uh livery that was used on ken block’s rally, cars and a lot of other things that he’s done recently, and i just absolutely loved it. What i really liked about this was the fact that it is solid, colors, так что есть, no edging on here, есть, no uh like fading or really tough stuff, that you would need an airbrush for. You could technically do this entire body with a spray can, if you masked it off properly so pretty thick lines here, to just kind of do: a gradation of colors from fluorescent, yellow fluorescent, orange, bright red and then silver, and then on the back in the front. We have kind of this contrast, let’s see if we can see it like a black checker and then like a dark, gray, checker and then up front. We have white checkers and light gray, checkers so kind of fun, and then the thing that i really love about this is that i used stock stickers, there’s no custom sticker on here whatsoever.
This is a hobby wing sticker that comes off of those sheets that they give you. They come in a lot of different colors, which is really cool raw speed. Sticker comes in the tire bag, tlr sticker comes in the kit. Shell sticker came with my set of bearings: trinity, came out of one of the batteries hobby wing same thing and beach rc came with a piece of candy and that sticker there, when i ordered from bcrc.com so completely stock, О, and that is a sticker it’s. Just a monster energy sticker. I think that it’s not even like a genuine monster sticker. I ordered it off of ebay just so i could slap it on there because monster energy is better than red bull. So there you have a body that was the body that came with the kit, not an optional one. You can just go grab a can of spray paint at your local hobby shop pick the colors you like put them together, but same principles are going to apply contrasting color sets in the front. We had the white with the gray and then black with the gray and then kind of a gradation of colors in the middle, so similar concept to what we did on our pro custom body, but just more kit or easy. You could definitely do this paint jean with liquid mask or masking tape, whichever you’re more comfortable, with probably going to have better results with liquid mask because your details and your lines are going to be much sharper it’s in my practiced history.
I know that firsthand and kind of on a random note. I think that it’s really cool to do stuff like this now, because everybody and their mom has one of these kind of bodies that they hire a painter and then they have like their splashy stuff. In the front, something in the middle and then main color design in the back, this is pretty tried and true and i feel like it’s, even though it’s super custom it’s very common, so it’s not like that hard to find or see you do something like this And i think that it’s super unique and cool and you’re, probably gon na stand out more with something like that versus this. Just because so many people have this it’s. Just so simple. It kind of takes me back to like the stuff that was in the late 80s early 90s, where you would have some paint schemes that were kind of custom, but they still had like solid colors and they used the factory sticker sets. I don’t know just kind of cool. You don’t see it that much anymore. I wish it would make a comeback so, like i had mentioned, if you’re doing the pro custom modern day paint scheme find some complementary colors with some contrast, если это возможно, and then find ways that you can add detail whether it be fine lines. Some texture in some particular area get really nice with all of your points if there are any or if you have rounded areas, make sure they’re, nice and round and not choppy.
Those are all going to be markers and indicators of a super nice pro paint scheme. If you’re going to hire it out, most of the guys out there are going to do just fine oftentimes way better than i could ever do. But that’s going to be all the marks of like a custom pro paint scheme stickers, you’re gon na want them to match that super cool custom paint scheme. If this is the route that you’re going to choose center of the sticker just make it match. One of your primary colors and then edge it in something that matches as well pretty simple there. I went ahead and linked down below the place that i go to when i order all of my custom, stickers and t shirts for that matter, and he does a great job. Stick it one racing been using him for years and his stuff is top notch stickers. Last a super long time and the colors are always nice and bright. If you wanted to go the old school route, you definitely have all of my support, but then you might have to hunt just a little bit more to find some stickers that would match or contrast or fit in your particular paint scheme. And then this one might be a little bit easier for you to achieve no super awesome, custom, edge lines or fading or details just straight forward. Solid colors checkers lines down the middle super easy and then the stickers that come right out of the bag and most of your products in your kit, slap them on there good to go.
So if you’re getting bored with your paint scheme, then maybe switch it up. Try to do something old school for fun or find a different color set if you’re bored with your current one or if you feel like yours, doesn’t match, and your colors don’t make a whole lot of sense. Check out that color matching tool i mentioned down below and see if your colors, you can find the set that matches better or works better together and of course, i can’t forget to thank all of my lovely patreon supporters. All you guys up here on the screen. You guys are the best. Спасибо. So much for all of your continued support. I’M really excited that we’re, getting really close to announcing slash showing you guys what i’ve been working on. I just got some stuff back from my uh designer and i’ve loved everything i’ve seen so far, but not quite ready, so it’s coming soon and i’ll send it to everyone on my patreon first, because you guys are the ones that definitely helped make it happen. Moving on to my super awesome, big tier supporters, one of my newest uh, mr robert black, Спасибо, sir, for your generous support, greatly appreciated and then the usual everybody knows the one that i can’t pronounce tim jeskewicz i’m, either going to get it right.
