Somebody commented in the one video and said they’d like to see it the review so let’s get into it. I’Ll try to make this as quick as i can um. So this is the one i converted this is the first truck i bought. This is the one that destroyed this motor and we had to put this motor in to run it. While i waited for banggood to do something about this, and they actually never did anything to give me a replacement motor, they gave me like 20 bucks back just to help pay for the cost of this motor. So it is what it is uh. So i ordered this system. My biggest concern was: would this electronic speed controller bind to the factory controller and what the procedure was? Let me tell you right off the hop guys. There is no procedure. It binds instantly so that’s good. That was a big relief getting into it. It’S, really not that hard guys, if you clear yourself off a little section and then just start taking the bolts out one at a time and putting them where you took them out nothing to worry about. I think this is the only different bolt, so you get the top cover off here. Snip, the zip ties there’s two screws underneath to pop the motor mount bracket out and then just undo the jamb bolt on the pinion slide, the pinion off bolt the new motor mount to this motor.
It comes with new screws, but i use the original factory ones and they work just fine there’s, also a heat sink that comes with the motor, but being such a hard truck when it bounces it just pops off and falls off on the road somewhere. So i have another one i might glue or zip tie that back on, but so far i haven’t really actually needed it. So when you bolt the motor back up bolt the mount motor mount to the motor tight bolt the motor mount to the frame tight, but leave the pinion loose until you get it all in and then you want to slide the pin until it’s perfectly meshed up And lined up with the spur gear and then crank it tight that’s. It guys no mess to deal with no sliding the motor back and forth you’re done there bolt this top cover back on you’re done the electronic speed controller. You just get a screwdriver underneath it and pry it out, it’s just taped in clean it off get an alcohol wipe down. There, stick the new one in install your battery and then plug your servo in, but don’t install the servo yet so get it all. In get it all up and running uh it’s up and running all right, let’s turn it off. So you can hear what it sounds like. Okay, so she’s up and running controller is on it’s binded. That was it. So what you want to do with your servo out, like so is when you fire the truck up with the servo plugged in you’ll, hear the servo move, and, in my case, that mark was originally where that dot was.
It turned 90 degrees perfect. That is its center. Now i made a couple sweeps with a controller and it went over and back and you do a couple sweeps with it and make sure it always comes back to this point where your new center is once you’ve determined. That is your center. Now you can bolt up your servo saver and your servo horn to this new one so bolt it when it’s up up and out i didn’t undo any of this. I just kind of lifted it up stuck a screwdriver down here, pushed it onto the new one. New servo and then bolted it back in two bolts and two alignment pins down there guys so that’s. All you had to do was mark it center and then bolt it in now. You’Re not done with that. Yet there’s, one more step that you have to do. Just so you don’t wear this servo out, so on this controller, as you can see, i have marked it in blue. The steering servo drive rate, and this is how much the servo actually turns. So this servo will do 180 degrees. It’Ll go full 90. This way full 90 that way the steering on this only goes 60 degrees each way or 60 45 somewhere in there. So if you leave this fully turned up you’re going to fight the servo saver. Every time you turn it which is going to destroy this servo and then you’re ordering another one from banggood you’re three weeks out waiting for parts don’t.
Do it so i’ll show you here so i got it marked and it turns no problem lock the lock and it’s. Quite quick, no problem uh. But if you turn this up guys and leave this cranked up, if you swatch the servo saver, she’ll flex and separate it’ll over drive it. So you back that back down and i did in stages. I just slowly moved it back around until i got to the point where it doesn’t fight it anymore, because i didn’t want to destroy the gears in that servo. I have to order another one from banggood, so those are only two things find mark your center, find it do a couple sweeps before you bolt this up or push the horn on and then adjust your steering rate so that’s the only really hard part about this Install now speed wise, it is way faster and i can show you that here in a second, but because i ran this truck so much and we ran it on the drift tires. The hard drift tires and i ran it a lot. The only thing i’ve created with this truck now, which makes it really hard when it’s brushless is, i have actually unlocked the back diff there’s, like no resistance, since there very little resistance there, where the front is quite locked up, so i’ve opened the rear depth. So now it torques gears to the left a crazy amount and i’ll show you that here, in a minute, so with the more power in this torque steering it’s hard to drift.
Now, if i put this motor in this truck, which is still pretty much brand new i’m sure i wouldn’t have that problem um, so let’s get to the speed. Do here brushed one first to make sure my tires aren’t touching and i grab the right controller. All right brush guys that was full out. Okay, so that’s brushed now comes the fun part brushless. It is way faster, so it’s definitely worth the 50 bucks guys. Uh don’t hesitate to buy it. It binds up the only problem. I’Ve had with this electronic speed controller. With this guy they’re mad slow, now it’s a second second half delay, but really quickly guys before my phone dies. I’Ll show you the torque steer so it’s straight i’m, not gon na turn it. My steering trim is set straight, but it’s gon na hook around and that’s the way it is on the road any surface. I run it on that’s the what it does so now you have to constantly hold a steering, but i can’t adjust the steering trim, because if i adjust the steering trim to hold that it’s only like that on mat accelerations. So i have it right now. So it’ll drive straight when it’s cruising. The only other thing i don’t know if we’ll show here quickly before my battery dies is it is mad slow as it warms up, it gets worse, but it’s a second second half delay, sometimes especially after you go full throttle.
Let off it slides around and you punch it again, it’s a second delay, so i don’t think that’s anything i can do about that. I think that’s just the way it is um so yeah. It makes this truck twice as fast, a little bit slower uh, but a lot more fun, guys it’s worth the 50 bucks. I might order a second kit to put in this one i don’t know yet so we’ll see i might put this kit in this truck.
