I ordered this onto mia usa’s website. This is, as you can see, another wt01 um. This is, as you can see, the mud blaster too kind of going with the um bush devil 2, which is which i think is interesting, because the original mud blaster was based on the um original orv, with the trailing arm rear suspension, whereas the bush devil was Based on the king, black foot, with with the independent double wishbone rear suspension, so it’s kind of interesting that they they chose the mud, blaster name for this um. But you can see they did use the um subaru brat body, which is why they did call it. The mud blaster: this is one where i think they kind of missed the mark with the box art because um it doesn’t other than the brat body and being a monster truck. It doesn’t look anything like a mod blaster um, these, like um tribal markings and stuff on it, does look cool for the era when, when this thing came out uh, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the mud, blaster, so um it would have been cool If they did some sort of a variation on the retro, uh graphics on it, but they didn’t do that um with the bush level 2. They did do an updated version of like a bush like a devil graphic on it, with flames on it and stuff. Like that, so if they had done something like that, i think this truck may have been a little bit more popular.
But even the original bush that even even the original mud, blaster um, does not seem to be as popular as the um, the blackfoot and the um monster beetle. So i don’t know i don’t know what tamiya was thinking or what their plan was with this, but nevertheless i did get it mainly because it was on sale onto me, usa’s website and i don’t actually plan on using this body with it i’m. Not personally a big fan of this particular version of the subaru brat body, so i won’t be using this, but i will talk about that in a second let’s. Look around the box. First, you can see obviously the 2000s, unlike the modern tamiya like oops dropped. It you can see the modern tamiya style, where it’s just a box, art built, built kit and just a photograph um, instead of being a like a artist rendition which would have been cooler. But you know this is fine. Um wt1 here blind, blaster, 2. um overall it’s, a good it’s, a good looking box and it’s a good looking um front panel. You can see it says, bonus parts included – and this is also said it has a esc, included ice we’ll, we’ll we’ll check when it. When we open it, but i suspect it’s going to be a tv, le 02s speed control and usually when tamiya says bonus parts um they either mean bearings or oil shocks, so we’ll see which one it ends up being we, i would much more prefer bearings over Oil shocks with this particular chassis, but you can see a photograph of the chassis with the wheels off and all that this is just another panel with another picture on it: mud blaster too, just the typical modern, tamiya box setup, so we’ll take the plastic off it’s.
Always satisfying taking this plastic off of the community, kits though personally i wish, even though it is pretty satisfying, i wish they would just use tape on the corners, because all this extra plastic is kind of um extra trash that ends up that ends up happening, but Um, if the camera angle looks a little bit different this time, it is because i’m actually filming from a brand new phone. My old phone, which was a samsung galaxy x9, started acting up, so my parents for my birthday, as well as a graduation president um bought me, the samsung galaxy Music z flip the flip phone, which is really really cool um. If you guys want to see that maybe maybe i’ll make a video about it, i’ll have to find a separate camera, though um, but anyway um you can see. Surprisingly, even to my surprise, they set this up like one of their classic kits, which is super super cool um. They have like that insert in here with the tamiya, all the graphics and everything the body and everything set up like that, so that’s, pretty cool i’m. Actually gon na um lift this up right here, so you can get a good look as well as so. I can get a photo of this later, so that’s, pretty neat um that that now makes me wonder if the um bush devil was also set up like this. If you get the bush devil kit, if if it was set up with the insert and everything that would have been pretty interesting to see, if anyone had a bush, double two kit um, let me know – but here we have all these standard, wto1 parts um and All that, so i won’t really dig into all this because it’s pretty standard stuff, i mostly want to see what esc it comes with and what uh extras it comes with, and it does look like the included bearings with this, which is super super cool, um.
That’S. Really cool the included bearing so i guess, i’ll have extra bearings now, because i already bought bearings for this um. I typically don’t like to use the tamiya shielded bearings i like to use the rubber rubber, sealed bearings and also they don’t, give you all the bearings, because i do believe i can dig in here and find it yes with the wr02 and the wt01, and basically Every tamiya car that uses this transmission, the transmission comes pre assembled and because it comes pre, assembled it’s already going to have the bushings in it, and i don’t think tamiya expects you to take this apart to put in the new bearings. So it doesn’t look like it. They give you all. The bearings let’s see how many bearings they have in here. Um see one two, three, four, five, six, seven eight! So if it’s, two in the hubs, two and one hub do another hub yeah, so it just looks like they give you enough to put them in the hubs, not actually um in the transmission. So i i will still need that. Bearing kit that i bought um anyway, it looks like i’ll. Probably put those sealed bearings. Excuse me the shielded bearings in the inside the transmission, because the inside of the transmission doesn’t see as much water or dirt. So i like to have the rubber sealed on the hubs and stuff like that. The wheels and tires are this, like turbine style, wheel and tire it’s, the same size as the one that comes on the black foot and the um g601 and stuff like that is just this turbine style.
I originally wasn’t a big fan of this look but it’s kind of growing on me, especially because to me it actually went into the effort of um making them directional on both sides, because, with even with real cars, the problem is with directional. Wheels is it’s it’s more more expensive to make two different sets of wheels, so what they will often do we’ll just do this the same direction for both sides, so so with this direction. If it was mounted this way, it would be going the correct direction, but if it was mounted this way, these these spokes would be going backwards. But um with this wheel, tamiya is actually one of the effort of making directional wheels proper directional wheels and the tires are also mounted properly on the on the correct directional wheel. So that’s a pretty good um attention to detail by tamiya uh, one of the main one of the many reasons why i enjoy their stuff, but that’s pretty cool kind of a minor detail. But it is pretty cool. I think some of the screws and stuff that are in here and then it does look like they give you the older eu 104 bk speed controller, the standard brushed, speed control, which is fine. This works fine as well. I i personally prefer the tble02s, but this this is an older kit and seeing how this still has the older speed control in it. That makes me suspect and kind of almost confirms my suspicion that this kit, this mud, blaster, 2 kit, will be getting discontinued soon because all of their modern kits all the kits that are going to be continuing to be made um do include the tble 02s speed Control, so if anyone ever picks this kit up – and it does have that newer speed control in it, let me know because um they don’t include this speed control, usually anymore in their kids.
Even my sand, scorcher came with the tble 02s, so that kind of confirmed my suspicion there uh here we have the brat body um. This will probably just go in my box of bodies for a while um, because i don’t have any plans on using this. At the moment, i actually have this painted wrap body it’s the exact same body. This one came off my subaru brat re release, um and i just did a simple paint job on it, put some vinyl on it and stuff like that. This is kind of a beater basher body. You can see multiple holes for different bodies and i’ll probably throw this on it initially, because the body actually oops the body i actually plan on using with this kit. Is this one right here? I bought this a long time ago. If you look way back to my channel um you would. You would have seen this. I got this for a really really really good deal on on ebay. You can see it says: it’s um 4600 yen, which is uh uh. Approximately like 46 bucks, but i got this whole body for 30 bucks on ebay. I don’t know why they were selling it for for so cheap, but i had to pick one up. I originally got this body to restore my beloved uh cc01 fj cruiser um, but that never ended up happening and uh. I decided to use this body on the wto one chassis because one of my favorite rc cars i’ve ever had um hobby grade toy grade.
Whatever is a niko fj cruiser like monster truck, i absolutely love that thing. I still have the body for that. Actually, let me let me go grab it here’s, the body from it um. You can see this one also has a bunch of holes in it, because i’ve used this body on a lot of toy grade like projects when i was younger, you can see some of the fenders are kind of cut out and stuff like that, but it has Survived pretty well, and when i was little, i swore that this thing was a huge truck, but with looking at it now all grown up, this body is pretty tiny. You can see it compared to the tamiya tent scale body and it’s, a pretty pretty tiny body body. Excuse me, but i still kept this around because i do want to use this someday either on a monster truck or maybe a crawler build. I really wanted to do a scale crawler build with this, but i haven’t been able to find a chassis small enough for this. So we’ll see where this goes, but anyway continuing with the stuff in the box i’ll kind of start pulling stuff out as uh um. So here we have the chassis um, nothing really talking about there, symmetrical chassis, all the little paperwork and stuff in here my favorite black antenna, tube love that all the masking and stuff. I won’t really show you all the paperwork and stuff because it’s just you know just typical body instructions and the generic um chassis build instructions.
Here we have the stickers, i don’t really plan on using these stickers either because i don’t, like i mentioned. I don’t really like the look of them um, but that is called they they are included. What is interesting, though, is they do include two different grills for this. They include the brat grill and just the tamiya racing grill um and according to box art it’s supposed to be to me a racing you’re supposed to use this grill right here, but um. They do include some of the subaru decals, so that’s pretty interesting but i’m. Not gon na pull out every single part in this box, but a lot of the parts are reused from older kits or other kits. So nothing really too interesting to look at there. Just because you know look at these parts, they’re, just all the same parts that are used on the wr 02, and all that you know you want to see the bumper here’s, the bumper so nothing too interesting in there. I just kind of wanted to open it up and take a peek at what it looked like inside and what kind of esc it included and um what the bonus part was. So this is going to get built pretty soon. I hope um i’m, currently pretty busy with school at the moment, because it’s final exam week very very soon, so hopefully right after that, i’ll be able to get this built and be able to play with it.
So that’s going to be pretty interesting and pretty fun and i’m really excited. Since the weather is warming up to get this body painted up, i will probably paint it the same blue as my old fj cruiser and that’s just going to be really really nostalgic. For me, um just um proportionally scale wise. What how this thing is going to look on this 10 scale chassis is how it’s going to look um, how it’s going to look how i well okay. What was i trying to say how this is going to look on? This chassis is going to be like how this body looked on the nikko chassis. When i was younger there we go, i knew i could do it, but yeah really really excited and before any any more people ask yes, since the weather is warming up, i will get around to painting that rock fan body that i did with ampro engineering. Just i’ve been waiting for the weather to warm up and also waiting for me to get a little bit less busy with school, so that will be coming up. And if you guys want to see the build of this or driving of this all that kind of stuff, all other rc stuff or any other tamiya stuff, you can check out my channel um subscribe. Give me a like.
