So every now and then i’ll get asked if i’ll review a product and i’ll only do it if it’s relevant to the channel and this product couldn’t be any more relevant. If you ask me so great new company called rc mate check them out in the link below they contacted me and asked me if i’d do review on a set of tools. Now i know you’ve all got your favorite sets of tools. I’Ve certainly got mine and i’m an absolute fanatical tool fan i’ve, probably got every tool that you could ever think of. So reviewing this was getting me quite excited. You are dirty so a few key points when i’m looking for a tool is first of all, they’ve got to look good, then they’ve got to feel good, be reasonably priced, do what they say, they’re going to do, and i want to be using those tools a Year after i’ve bought them, i don’t want to be getting something that’s going to be stripping off it’s going to be wrecking my screws, ruining my modelling experience so before we take a look i’ve been using these tools for about a week and i’ve used every tool In the box and i’ve been absolutely really impressed with how they look, how they feel how they’re used and the quality of them – and i think in a year’s time, i’m going to be using these still now. Great thing is: is that if you do damage a tip or if you round one off, the tips are available separately to buy as well as the handles? So if anything were to happen, you know you’re going to be able to get spares, so let’s have a look at what’s included in the pack.
All of these are available to buy separately and you can cater them for your requirements. I know some of the different scale guys required different tools, but for me this kit covers everything. So, first of all, we’ve got this lovely case keeps everything organized nice and tidy, and i know exactly where my drivers are. I know how many i’ve got, and i know when i put them back and for me that’s, absolutely key every tool i have has its place and when i finish using it, i put it back so the next time i want to use it. I know exactly where it is. I know a lot of guys that are keen on their racing and keen on their crawling. I i feel you’re probably going to be the same as me. You like to keep stuff tidy. You like to put it away so we’ve got an extensive set of normal hex drivers. We’Ve got our socket drivers or nut drivers set of screwdrivers, both cross head and flat head and really handy. For me, some of the models i have got quite tight spaces. Are these ball end drivers now i’ve not tried a set of ball end drivers like this before, but um the ones included in this kit uh one of the jobs that i was doing. I was putting a new diff cover onto one of my trx4 sports and it’s, always awkward to get to the bolts for the cover.
So what i usually have to do is disconnect a couple of the suspension links flip the axle forward, which is a bit of a nightmare and then undo them conventionally with the normal drivers, but with these didn’t have to do that. I got just enough angle. I could get in there, get them undone and get them done tight. So let’s have a look at a couple of examples so handles a nice. Conventional size got a nice uh rotating cap on the end for when you’re screwing in thus like this, and as you can see, they’re nicely branded with the ztec logo on the back gives you the size of your driver. So, in this case it’s a three millimeter driver, i think you’ll agree the colors look fantastic it’s, a nice dark, bronzy gold with the black really good contrast. I like that, so the golden tips which are ti coated and then at the end. As you can see, this is a conventional driver, so that’s an example of one of the hex drivers. So here we have one of the nut drivers handles are exactly the same and as you’ll notice you’ve got a drilled hole there. You can put another driver through. Maybe to use it for a little bit of extra leverage. You’Ve got your size on here, which in this case is a 5.5 mil box and then looking at the tip really nice chamfer on the inside here. So it helps to helps you to locate the nuts and they’re not too thick.
So if you’ve got um nuts in tight spaces, it’ll be hey, then i’m pretty sure you’ll be able to get this driver in there. And next is our ball end drivers. Now these are my favorites, to be honest, um not seen very many good quality ball end kits, but as you can see behind the ball at the end it’s relieved, so you can get a nice bit of angle on there when doing stuff up and undoing it And again, this has the same handle and the same cup arrangement. So last of all we’ve got our conventional screwdrivers starting off with the conventional five mil phillips. We know it’s a phillips because it’s a four point and not an eight point, as most of the screws are on our rc models and then lastly, nice flat tipped five mil flat tip and again. What i like about these is they’re really nicely ground, not too thin, so you know you’re going to get a lot of longevity out of them. So, as i said earlier in the handle, you’ve got a hole through here and that’s there, so that, if need be, you can use another driver for a bit more leverage. So there we have it a tool set from ztec available in the uk from rc mate. They ship worldwide, as well so get in touch with them. Links will be in the description below if you’re like me, and you love your tools. This is going to be a great set for you.
If you’re like me – and you love your tools, this is going to be a great set for you there’s lots of different types of tool available. They also offer cutters and hex wrenches for wheel nuts and they’re specialists in microscale 124 for mini z and large scale. One fifth on road racing, so, as i mentioned earlier, i think the ball end. Hexes have to be my favorite tool so out of the kit here’s a prime example. So this is a trx4 it’s fitted with vitavon cnc, billet, aluminium axles and normally i’d have to take the suspension off to twist the axle to get these screws. So with the ball end, i can just fit that in and undo those without any problem at all. So there we go that’s the ball end and i think, out the whole kit. These are going to get the most use. Certainly from my point of view. So there we go the very cool hex drivers, ball, hex drivers, nut drivers and screwdrivers all available from rc mate.
