Nice, love the old buggies brings me back to my childhood. Do u have any video on traxas trx1 I think it is or talon I'm not sure. But I remember when it first came out. It had the 3 gear transmission like the stealth or mip and my brother got one and I remember that thing sounding so smooth and quiet I thought it seemed better than both the jrx2 and rc10
Like a lot of RCs of that era, 2x3c saddle packs were the recommended option for best packaging and operation. You can buy the cells, NIMHs, and the needed components, bars, wires, and connectors, for the proper fit. But then you can still buy saddle packs. Not vintage? But does it need to be if you are not storing the car with the batteries installed anyway?
This and the XLS were always ‘I wish’ cars for me in the 80’s. Great little overview thanks mate, very tempted to go grab one! (By the way, surely time to invest in a stabilising video gimbal!? 😜). Highly recommend the video interview with Cecil S himself if anyone hasn’t seen it yet!
If you want a free/cheap timing system you could try the RC Timing app on IOS. Free for one car or small fee for more cars. Me and my son use it on our mini-Z track and it works great. For Android there is LapTrax which I haven't tried yet.
I kindly ask/mention…. You didn't cover the main talking point of what this car brought to the market back in its day… like the front suspension geometry, in fact, you didn't even show people how it worked. During that time, no other off road car did this system. Also, the wheel to drive hubs, although a strange mating system, that was also new to the world, I don't think it ever caught on, but, it allowed them to put this car out, and not have to pay anybody royalties for the hex-block and pin system, or a hex-splined shaft, etc… the multi-tiered stamped chassis pan being low profile, yet, 30 times stronger then the RC-10's stamped out chassis pan, while being liter as well…. Please note, I say this kindly, but you didn't talk about the history of the car, the company, what they wee up against ,and how they took the world by storm, on a budget of less then $400k in the first year, to then being a multi million dollar company by year 3… I am not a schumacher fan… but this is part of what we all grew up knowing, and you didn't cover any of it, for folks who might now think, this is a new release kit, for today… lol, having no clue that it is from 20 to 30 years ago… Don't get me wrong, All is said in kind… But is that what you are gonna be doing, is having the sub base watch you build stuff, and request that they send you money, so you can buy more stuff? I know that sounds aggressive for me to say that, I mean no disrespect, by all means… Just curious is all, it is your channel, do with it as you see fit, while also noting, I am not telling you what to do, or not do.. I am just curious, if this should be at the top of my list of channels to watch

weirdestmost complicated.wish i had something like this as a kid..makes tamiya look bad
Man assembling the front end alone was quite a pain
Excellent work on your car and have a nice day
Nice Vid, especially combining the build and running together 👍
Ok so I have just ordered one… 😀

Damn, that Top Cat looks so good in that colour, really, really love it!! And awesome video as always dude, can't wait for the next one!!!
The hairpin round the pole should be called the hairpin of death! Its just asking to rip off a control arm 🙂
Had a personal lap count system by Team Orion. Not sure if it's still available. Maybe check the second hand market.

I hate it when I forget to mow the track

11:20 not seeing any rooster tails of shredded grass .. needs more grunt!!
Yep – bought the shorty pack – exact same one, as I use it in my Yokomo CAL3 also. Are you going to upgrade to the alloy front suspension bulkheads?
does this mean you'll be sticking to properly designed race cars from now on and not just kids toys? 😀
Excellent video Gav. Keep up the good videos. It takes me back.
Another great video Gavin. Did you have any problem fitting the wing? I’ve read on some forum this can be tricky
I was expecting it to run quieter and smoother with the belt drive.
What a buggy Gav, you need to purchase a trailer for sure. Great vid.
