What i have today are two cars that are very similar, but what they have in common is they’re highly regarded as some of the best value high performance off roaders available today. So what what are they? Wl toys? One two: four: zero one: eight one, two, four: zero one: nine so very similar chassis, very similar, terrible names like a part number, but what they offer is incredible performance, pretty darn, good quality and a price of about 115 dollars each. So what we’re going to do today is we’re going to talk about these two vehicles. Show you some running video. Tell you the pros and cons, maybe which one decide help you decide, which one is good for you or if this is worth a try at all, but really they look and perform like they should be 200 vehicles, but what they do is they they hit you At 120, and if you want three batteries, lipo batteries, maybe 150 and we’ll – have the buy it links in the description and the coupon codes. You know, and these coupon codes don’t they don’t last forever, but they they were nice enough to give it to us and it’s available from banggood.com we’ve done many vehicles from them, they’re not the best. You know but there’s some gems in there so it’s worth taking a look at for sure i mean i wouldn’t be reviewing them if they were just you know if they were just not worth our time, but with the state of the hobby, a lot of supply Chain problems, a lot of prices going up.
You know the these. The these overseas manufacturers are worth taking a look at because they keep getting better with every model. So i reviewed uh quite a bit some time ago, the team associated reflex and they have the the forefather of these things is a copy of the team, associate reflex and pretty good, but the wheelbase was a little short and it was a little unstable. So what they did with this was they lengthened the wheelbase. So the other thing i had something going on, where they’re, both controlled the same by the same radio and i’ll talk about that a little bit later. But the other thing that’s really crazy about this vehicle is it is a 112 vehicle and they somehow managed to put a 550 motor. So this is a motor for a one tenth vehicle for sure, maybe one night, this is a. This is a big motor and in their predecessor, uh it had a small battery because the wheelbase was so so short over. Here they were able to put a bigger battery about nine to ten minutes of runtime, so much better in the associated reflex. They have a brushless motor and that’s why the price went up so high. It was about – and i think, it’s still available about 220 bucks, this one’s only 100 10 115, but what they did to get that performance pretty much the same performance is they put a monster motor? So i keep playing with this because it’s so cool it’s, smooth, modulates.
Well, all metal drivetrain looks like it has cbds in the front, so good good, steering, good shocks, metal shocks all around and you know a pretty fast servo and just a nice layout. Look at that, you know if you didn’t know better, you would say: whoa is that from associated from sat from tamiya, so another thing they have going for it is the the old model the team associated reflex had really crappy tires. They were just garden hose kind of tires garden, hose rubber, but these are really nice rubber and you know if your tires are not good. You can always upgrade but that’s about a 40 investment, so that takes it out, takes it out all right, so strong it’s, like a bat out of hell and but what’s cool, now that they have the longer wheelbase is it’s now stable, turns good, easy to control. Uh transmitter is not amazing, but it does the job pretty smooth light. Light touch about a hundred meters hundred yards as they say, is the range so not that far, and it does something funny, which is, i think it syncs up when you turn it on. So once you turn it on it’s it’s going to mate, or what do you call that bind with the transmitter that you turn on initially and it’s, not exclusive one? Two, four: zero one: nine – and this is the one eight. So this is a buggy low, slung classic design.
You know looks like uh some of those associated cars, the b4 b44 – and this is a desert truck a classic cage boom a little bit inconvenient because only half of it opens it’s hard to get in there. But uh do the battery and whatnot and it’s a little bit unfortunate every time you turn it on and off. You have to open it, and these are with two small body clips, so not the best, but it does have an led light. Now. One thing i’ll say so this rides higher. This is your desert truck a lot of rocks a lot of holes and whatnot, and this is your track car. You know uh either on road off road, but really, if you have a track and i’ll show you some footage, this one should do better, lower center gravity and better smoother shock actuation. So the the shock is going like this. The arm’s going like this and the shock is pointing that way. This one on the other hand, so it is stiffer the uh. The arm wants to go like this, but the shock goes like this, so uh this usually is used for like a trailing arm suspension where the shock the arm is going this way, but this one is the same as that: okay, so same wheelbase same width, but This one is a little bit longer because it has, it has just a hair, longer wing and bumper and it is higher so higher hope you can see that higher center gravity.
So there you go so so this tumbles a lot, but you can definitely take it. Super cool has a has an extra tire, so you’re getting more for your money here. You know, i believe, they’re like five or ten dollars off, but definitely this is that classic cage style, design, the got the driver lights spare tire and more burley. You know you’re, not gon na you know it’s all protected with cage, so very, very nice style. You know: desert desert, buggy, desert, racer and quite durable, so for for what i tested in my track. They both seem to be quite capable. This one has a little more ground clearance, it does, it does seem, but what’s going on is man. What can you buy for 115 bucks these days right, uh? Maybe the actual yeti, junior and a lot of a lot of tiny cars? You know sex scx, 24. So to be able to buy a super high performance vehicle, all aluminum uh spare parts, definitely because they’re, so popular they’re all there. So you check wltoys parts they’re all there, but the the issue is it’s a banggood.com product, meaning uh shipping is about 10 to 15 days, so it’s it’s not like a main or amazon. I think this is going to show up in in amazon at some point, because the other wltoys are there, but they’re just kind of uh serving milking that market for now. But there you go. You know it’s really a question of which one speaks to you, but i would say this one. You know it’s a little it’s, a little beater it’s got a little better bumper up front, a real wing out back, and you kind of need this, because this is this – is an overpowered 30 mile an hour beast. What is that 45 50 55 kilometers an hour and um? You know definitely a handful all right. Thanks a ton so here’s, some running video and we’re gon na talk you through some of the action. First one is the desert buggy one, two, four: zero one: eight! It performs on our track pretty good, so it’ll tumble a little bit more. It doesn’t jump quite as nice, but it’s plenty good and, as you can tell, we don’t have a lot of runway here, just doing laps. But this thing has so much get up and go right there. The 019 will not do that as much. This one will tumble but it’ll just roll around and it it’s like a little uh warthog it likes. It does not get injured right. There super easy to control, and if you, if you want some power drifts, this is a good one. Look at that so easy to do so, the more rugged the terrain changes direction. This seems to do it really well, love it, not bad huh and, like i said 550 motor about 10 minutes of runtime bang for the buck or smiles for the buck, pretty darn good, so about 115 dollars with one battery with a coupon code and uh.
Seeing like 150 with three batteries, so in here we go through the steering accuracy. One thing really cool too, is when you gun it, it goes straight and that that just speaks to the quality of it, it’s quiet too. No, no crunching gears and whatnot people have put big brushless motors in this, got it to 60 miles an hour, maybe 90 miles an hour, and it seems to work fine. I wouldn’t do it personally, because it’ll be off balance. This already has a lot of power for its size and here’s, the one two four zero one: nine more, the buggy classic style. So something really interesting here is we’re using a track. This track is made for bikes, it’s, not easy and and a very high performance. Buggy 500 can handle this, but these cars really do handle it lap after lap. You know doesn’t even flip over. You know with the right driving and you can get fancy. They take different lines and before we close, we go through just a speed test. Both least vehicles tested at 30 miles an hour.
